Trump’s constant and daily witchhunt and no collusion tweets means he knows something as well and is trying to prepare his followers to go on the offensive against fake news.

I've seen rumors of Melania missing on here and some jokes on late-night comedy shows, but have not seen one story from a news source about her missing other than to mention her undergoing surgery about a month back.  Were real news sources actually reporting rumors about Melania missing because she left Trump, attempted suicide, had a face lift, etc.?  Or is this just another Trump mis-truth in an effort to malign the news media?

if anything, the media was largely conspicuously silent about it. which had the effect of making the rumors spread even more salaciously.

Trump reads the websites like Breitbart where they post headlines like "MSM ATTACKING AND SPREADING LIES ABOUT MELANIA HAVING PLASTIC SURGERY" and then they show a clip of CNN referencing rumors being spread on Twitter by unsubstantiated trolls and idiots.

This is the absurd news cycle we live in. It's embarrassing when our citizens swim in the cesspool of cable and internet news. It's terrifying when our President does.

Unfortunately, I think they need someone who is comfortable talking shit. Trump is going to fling a shy ton of feces and stupid nicknames that the dotards will eat up.

Being above it won’t work.

I think Biden is the guy and could get in the mud with Dotard.

Biden has too much baggage given how dirty old bastard he's always been with women.

Did he ever talk about grabbing pussy or pay off a porn star that he raw dogged or fuck a playmate while mom was at home nursing the newborn, cause if not, he should be fine. It doesn't appear to register with the electorate.

Won’t work, they tried running a decorated Vietnam war veteran against a guy that spent his military service defending Texas skies against the evil marauders from New Mexico.  The country’s intellect level has dropped even more dramatically since then.

In 2012 Bob Kerrey ran for Senate in Nebraska against Deb Fischer.  Kerrey was a Navy Seal in the Vietnam War, lost his leg below his knee, and is a Medal of Honor recipient.  He was also a former governor and Senator. Fischer owns a ranch in western Nebraska.  She defeated him by 15 points.  Veterans, like flags, are very respected as props.

It doesn't register with Republican voters. It sure as hell would register with a significant portion of the Democratic base (though the Bernie bros wouldn't give a shit, they'd love that shit but hate him for his connections to credit card companies).

Seems like a lot work to sequester Melania away for a few weeks with not even the hint of an actual explanation (even a benign one) just to get in a jab at fake news.  These guys don't think that far ahead.

Meh.  Incumbent President, war going on, economy had not tanked yet, 9/11 still fresh, and hey it's not like Bush got out of service altogether.  Plus electorally that was a very close race.  Ohio swing would have done it, but Kerry had some serious final totals to overcome there even if there were voting irregularities.  He could have cobbled together a few other states- Iowa, Nevada, and New Mexico were up for grabs and those could have made it a one vote loss.

McCain strategy didn't work for the R's either, but veteran/war hero thing was pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of that election.

A man who did not know that Lincoln was a Republican lectures us on our history.   A man who thought Frederick Douglass is still alive lectures us on our history.

The beat goes on.

I mean, if he's talking about himself, he's spot on.

Sounds like one of the presidents buddies is scripting his tweets, either Alex Jones or Sean Hannity.

Hannity...you can read the tweet in his voice and it sounds like him.

Biden would be a mistake as a candidate. I can never figure out why we choose to roll out these fucking fossils as candidates for President. Dude is 75 years old. I wouldnt trust that old man to drive a car, much less lead US policy. Same goes for Trump, Hillary and all the other old's. They are products of an era long since past and their actions reflect that.

According to the sources, Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a "national security" issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, "Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" referring to the War of 1812.
The problem with Trump's comments to Trudeau is that British troops burned down the White House during the War of 1812. Historians note the British attack on Washington was in retaliation for the American attack on York, Ontario, in territory that eventually became Canada, which was then a British colony.

Agreed. It's got to be somebody who's extremely intelligent, somebody who can conceptualize the nature and the stakes of each of the various threats that confront us, somebody with gravitas and somebody morally unstained.

If I was king I'd make  McRaven president.  If the democrats were smart, they'd approach somebody like him.

Ain't no way in hell Donald Trump wrote that one.  He's never said beyond the pale in his life.

It was a two part tweet in which he was quoting Chris Farrell of Judicial Watch.  Everyone remembers Judicial Watch, right?  They have that slogan "Because no one is above the Law!"

It will never happen, but the Dems need to think outside the box and go find some badass military leader to run in 2020. It would neuter many of Trump’s favorite attacks and the juxtaposition of a trained military man/woman next to the flailing dotard would create quite the visual and would instantly transform the general perception of the Democratic Party.

You’d have to think there are plenty of people who aren’t thrilled with Trump’s hollow patriotism.

McRaven was exactly who I had in mind when I made my post last night.

Democratic base really cared about it a lot when Bubba was involved, amirite. But the point stands. The GOP has lost any footing to be able to challenge any opposing candidate on morality grounds, and especially sexual morality grounds. Forever. Handsy Uncle Joe don't even register. The GOP bar has been lowered.  Probably all the way to pedophilia. Wouldn't surprise me too much if that shoe dropped too.

I honestly haven't seen much of his policy positions, but would be interested in hearing them out. I feel like McRaven could be a good candidate that could get broad support, but that is probably biased by longhorn and the few times that I have heard him speak.

I admittedly don't know much more and my judgement is surely clouded by a desire for a leader that is the complete antithesis of the douche canoe in office now.  But boy, is it nice to extrapolate the portrait of a President based off of my tiny sample size of McRaven observations.

President Bluto.

I hope the stupidity and ignorance of this comment doesn't overshadow the utter irrelevance of the supposed event to any possible policy today.   Even if Canada had burned down the White House 200 years ago, wtf?

That's my favorite part of it.  Not only is it incredibly stupid but it's completely lacking any context to the conversation.

This is what we get when Trump thinks on his feet and doesn't have his same tired campaign podium talking points. Master negotiator, indeed!

Given that our national elections have become pure farce already, I'd be fine with settling the 2020 election with a history quiz.

In Trump's defense, Britain was Canada in 1812.  The British forces included Canadian militia.  It's a profoundly stupid thing to actually cite in a foreign policy discussion in 2018, but he's not entirely wrong.

LOL. You're going to pull a muscle with all this backbending.
