http://thehill.com/policy/defense/386993-trump-incorrectly-claims-military-pay-hasnt-gone-up-for-10-years

A 2.6 percent jump would be the highest increase in nine years, though military personnel have received at least a 1 percent pay raise every year for the past decade, according to Defense Department figures.

“Today I’m here to tell you that my administration is totally committed to every family that serves in the United States armed forces. That is why earlier this year I was proud to sign that big pay raise that I’ve already spoken about,” Trump continued.

“And I am proud of it and I guess [there will] be others too. Would you like one sooner, or do you want to wait another 10 years?” he added.

Trump hosted the military mothers and spouses as part of a signing

was this comment directed to the guy that supports trump because he got a 3% pay raise?

Is money laundering prosperous?

I get your argument that wealth alone does not mean prosperous.  If you use that wealth to make more wealth and you do it well, then that is prosperous, I suppose.

Now my question is about those who gain wealth by illegal or immoral means.  Maybe not all their wealth but at least part of it.  Like those legislators who use insider trading information to line their pockets, or pay for play funds.   Are those guys prosperous?  Or are the crooks?  Or both?  I am confused.

And no way is trump a billionaire, not even if you ignore all his debt.

Let me try this:

Defense spending reached its post WW2 peak in 2013 in inflation adjusted dollars. We’ve exceeded what we spent in Korea or Vietnam or the Cold War in 2013. The Republican Congress and President want to maintain or exceed that peak level for the foreseeable future. I do not believe that is a sustainable model. Empires throughout history have collapsed under the weight of its military spending, and ours will too. All your work, your sacrifice, and your brethren’s deaths will be irrelevant when this happens. The spending, the tax cut, and the increases in interest rates (necessary to drive off inflation), will likely drive interest on the federal debt to exceed military spending in five years. We are approaching a spiral, and austerity measures, if we have the stomach for it, will likely be our only practical path forward. In either an austerity or collapse scenario, you can expect your post service bennies to be cut dramatically. Cutting military spending during sequestration was a path to avoid the fiscal instability which will certainly result in much shittier consequences later. While that logically resulted in force reductions, it should have accompanied mission reductions so the troops weren’t trying to do the same with less. But the bigger issue is that the defense contractor lobbyists have better access than you do, so the troops felt a disproportionate impact of the cuts. (If anyone wants to both-sides that, I won’t object.). But regardless how it should have happened, something had to happen to reduce spending. But now Trump and the Republican Congress have throttled back that attempt to recover fiscal sanity, and threw a tax cut on top. Enjoy the spiral down. And for fucks sake, save your money.

No shit. A bunch of dudes (myself not included) with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas are not going to view Wharton as a particularly grand achievement

Just to clarify, my point was not to disparage a Wharton MBA, that's legit.  I used "graduate" as a verb (as in "obtain a BS from Wharton").

I've met plenty of people with undergrad degrees from Ivy League schools who demonstrate the same lack of common sense you'll see in lots of kids at schools all over the country.  The Ivy kids sure will brag about that diploma, though (like Donald.)

A bank I worked at had 3 in-house lawyers.  Two were excellent lawyers and great to work with.  The other was a Harvard undergrad and B.C. Law.   She was, without question, the dumbest dumbshit I've ever worked with.  The motherfucker that changed the toner in the copy machine and delivered the mail was infinitely smarter. I'm not sure how she  found her way home at night.  Hell, I'm not sure how she found the ladies room down the hall.  Complete and total idiot.   I went to a mediation with her and she was so confused that I had to do 90% of the talking for our side.   But hey, she had that Harvard sticker on her bumper.

Lynne Patton is an event planner who (not surprisingly) was tabbed by Trump to head HUD in NY/NJ.  Maybe she's gonna drop a bomb regarding Omarosa.  She's still in her position with HUD as far as I know, so that would be an interesting conflict (unless it's negative against Omarosa).  Don't know why Dawsey would tweet it if true, though.

The Ivy League brand gets you the job, and let's face it, most of the time, that's all it takes.

The value of the brand is immense. That doesn't mean plenty of graduates don't fuck it all up.

Of course.

Trump crowing about "Wharton" is wordsmithing, though.  He knows most casual observers with think "Wharton MBA" and that's not what he achieved.

@Sgt Hulk
I get that you might feel discussing your opinions with civilians is beneath you. How about discussing them with someone else who has also served in the same wars and seen some shit too? Never mind that the opinions of everyone are just as valid as ours regardless of whether they ever served or not, you seem to have a chip on your shoulder against anyone who hasn't served, so I'm calling your ass out.on it.

If you don't want to conform to group think, then don't. Be objective and look at the objective truth of the issues for which this administration has done and is continuing to do with his policies of human rights abuses and obstructive ideologies. Step out of the group think of the people in your immediate surroundings and actually think for yourself.

He turned about 200 million (supposed $1 million loan + bailouts from daddy when Casinos were failing + inheritance) into billions.  He stole, money laundered, and defrauded thousands to make his money.  He also defaulted on so many loans through failed businesses that American banks quit loaning to him.  And if he had just put his inherited money into the stock market 4 decades ago, he's be much better off financially today.  Meh, not impressed.

He's a hillbilly clown who won the birth lottery and traded the opportunity to do any good with it to fulfill his narcissistic fantasies.  And, of course, hillbilly rubes like you eat it up and think he gives a shit about any of you.

Shh, you're ruining the narrative with common sense.  Since it's all pretend, he's wearing a monocle, smoking a cigar, precariously holding a scotch on the rocks and checking the stocks while wearing suspenders to hold up dingy fatigues.  3%, my stocks climbed 3% this year.  I'm going to be rich if this continues. Kind of makes the increasing odds of an economic implosion and imminent war worth it. Meanwhile, in another sphere of the world, Paul Ryan cuts social security, medicare and medicaid.

Graduating from Wharton is not hard.  Getting in is hard.   And Trump wasn't good enough to get in, which is why he went to Fordham until his brother got him a transfer to Penn because he was friends with an admissions officer.   As for how Trump actually performed at Wharton, despite his lying about it for years, he didn't graduate with any degree of honors.

The way trump goes on about his education at Wharton is akin to how the dishonorable stolen valor shitbags go on about their illustrious service in the military. Those who've done it dont need to beef it up; those who haven't have to try and make themselves out to be more than they are because they know they aren't worth a squirt of piss.

This. If you’ve accomplished something beyond getting your degree, the people who matter know. If you haven’t, you go into your 70s bragging about your degree.

That was a while back brah. What have you done lately?

Lulz at Trump "turning millions into billions."  If he would have put his inheritance into an S&P index fund, he'd have more money than he does now.  Before the Apprentice, he was a pitch man for fast food commercials for God's sake.  Even after he was elected, Ivanka was flying Jet Blue.  If he were really a billionaire, he'd release all of his tax returns just to show us how rich he is.

As someone who has invested a great deal of themself in the successful outcome of our being in Afghanistan, its important to me and many like me that success isn't defined just by whether or not US interests are preserved. Afghanistan has been our ally since the fall of the Taliban and abandoning that would create a very similar power vacuum to the one they suffered after the Communist regime fell when the USSR abandoned their occupation. So going forward, it will be vital to remember that it's easier to bring about positive change and influence with friendly relations and shared mutual interests than it is hostility. The US and NATO doesn't necessarily need to establish permanent bases in the country but withdrawing prematurely would be disastrous to the overall goal of ensuring Afghanistan can never again be used as a base of operations for groups like Al Queda to launch an attack upon the US or anyone else. There is also the humanitarian aspect of ensuring that a governing body like the Taliban can't assume control of the government and subjugate the people to unspeakable horrors.

"A Special Forces soldier who died Sunday in Afghanistan from wounds he sustained from an improvised explosive device was identified Monday by the Defense Department. Staff Sgt. Reymund Rarogal Transfiguracion, 36, from Waikoloa, Hawaii, had been wounded Aug. 7 by an IED that detonated near him while on patrol in Helmand province, the Army said. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. He had deployed in March to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel."

As an example (and a guy I hardly tout as some sort of intellectual or Presidential example), W never to my knowledge bragged about attending and graduating from both Yale and Harvard.

Thinking about this...this guy needs confirmation from a TV producer that he was never caught on tape saying "nigger"?

So, he's NEVER had that word in his vocabulary, and can prove it because according to Mark Burnett, there's no tape of it.

I've never called my girlfriend a "cunt", and I don't need anybody else to confirm that fact for me.  "BrisketTexan has been reading my posts for 10 years and says he has never seen me call my GF a cunt!"

Can you imagine?  This motherfucker is deranged.  Seriously deranged.

Ask Bill Clinton where he went to school, and he's gonna say "Arkie" every time, not Oxford.  Guaranteed.
