Quite simple: I don't care until he goes out of his way to lie about it.  He made it an issue by lying.  Is that hard to understand?

But don't let me stop your impassioned, noble defense of shamed rich people.

The problem is lying about where your money came from isn't a crime. As I mentioned the only thing the story does is prove to those that were living under a rock that he was full of shit about being self made.

I have told this story before but I was at a fundraiser for a Vet's group where he was the speaker about 10 years ago. He is and always has been full of shit, he's a fucking snake oil salesman and always will be. He lies so much he doesn't even realize he does it.

Now would be a good time for Trump to release his tax returns.

People won't give a fuck about this.  He gets grilled on it - "Yes, I took full advantage of the estate laws of the time.  That's smart business and the IRS had no issues."

Unless it was more than taking advantage of the laws (i.e., within the law).

But they still won't give a fuck because Trump.

I don't see the story having much impact unless it's connected to a legal investigation that plans to press charges. It's a good story and deserves publication, but all Trump needs to do with his voters is blather about the failing NY Times, con job, witch hunt, bitter Dems, and his large-uh brain.

It's amazing how alternative means have been so successful in so short a time. Nothing matters. Shrug. Where's my beer? I like beer. Beer is good. Do you like beer?

Idiot World.

I love the wealth shaming of rich people that people who otherwise would have a conniption fit about body shaming or any other ridiculousness would engage in.

I get that people don’t like trust fund babies, it’s an affront to the hard work and labor and sweat equity 99% of us put in, but who really cares if Trumps dad gives or gave him millions or not?

If you tel, me you built your house by yourself, I’d be impressed. Not a lot of people willing (or able) to do that.

If I come to find out that you just installed the curtain rods and picked out the wallpaper and paint, I’m going to give you shit about it.

Or to put it in Trump terms, somebody can’t say they are a self-made real estate tycoon/billionaire/whatever if they start off having millions by the time they hit college, are giving shares of real estate by their dad during their college years, and are given the proverbial Rolodex of banks and contacts that can help them make more deals/loan them money right out of the gate.

When Trump describes himself as self-made, he wants the idiots of the world to think he came from a poor background, moved to the Big City, and worked himself up from shit jobs to brokering deals, to outright buying and selling and building properties.  Hell, by the time he was in his 20s, his dad had given him more money than most Trumpkins will make in their lives.

Here is what can be said with certainty: Had Mr. Trump done nothing but invest the money his father gave him in an index fund that tracks the Standard & Poor’s 500, he would be worth $1.96 billion today. As for that $1 million loan, Fred Trump actually lent him at least $60.7 million, or $140 million in today’s dollars, The Times found.

Heard Michael Lewis on NPR talking about his new book on Trump administration. Staggering and infuriating incompetence.  Backed up by corruption, or at least the belief that if you are rich you must be smart.

HA, talk about lazy fucking reporting. The only reason that line is in there is a total fuck you to Donald and for uneducated people to point and laugh at him.

Fred Trump knew what he was doing (along with his accountant(s) and tax/real estate lawyers)

I would guess the vast majority of his base believe he’s smart only because he’s rich. We know there’s no other reason or evidence to believe it.

And many will believe he’s rich because he’s smart.  He’s put a lot of work into trying to convince people of that.

The family could have lived a great life living off the profits of all of Fred's rental properties.  Instead they sold almost all of them for less than market value because Donald needed money.

Michael Lewis describes Kush's role in the transition team. There was also an article about that in The Guardian a few days ago.

Quote

It wasn’t just Christie who had been fired. It was the entire transition team – although no one ever told them so directly. As Nancy Cook reported in Politico, Bannon visited the transition headquarters a few days after he had given Christie the news, and made a show of tossing the work the people there had done for Trump into the bin. Trump was going to handle the transition more or less by himself. Not even Bannon thought this was a good idea. “I was fucking nervous as shit,” Bannon later told friends. “I go, ‘Holy fuck, this guy [Trump] doesn’t know anything. And he doesn’t give a shit.’”

They were about to take control of the portfolio of existential risks managed by the US government. Only they weren’t. On the morning after the election the hundreds of people who had prepared to brief the incoming Trump administration sat waiting. A day became a week and a week became a month … and no one showed up. The parking spots that had been set aside for Trump’s people remained empty, and the briefing books were never opened. You could walk into almost any department of the US government and hear people asking the same question: where were these people who were meant to be running the place?

There's a Vanity Fair article that details how little the Trump Administration cared about transferring lessons learned from Obama officials. It highlights the DOE.

You can write an encyclopedia about how shitty of a businessman Donald Trump is.  He's gone bankrupt at everything and for some reason unknown to everyone but God, his brand is of some deal maker with hands of gold.  The Atlantic City casinos alone with worth a book or two.

He's not even a billionaire now.  His kids are flying around coach for God's sake.

3rd base?  He was born partying in the locker room after his father's 4 home run night.  He never even saw the field.

I posted this on the old board but I think it bears repeating.

Remeber when Ann Richards said George Bush was born on third base and thought he hit a triple? Donald Trump was born in the owner's box and thinks he invented the game.

Trump is going full aggy and calling Dr. Ford a liar at his campaign rally tonight that Fox news isn't covering for some reason. Shit is going to light UP tonight.

According to a CNN update, he mocked her and imitated her at his rally. That will go over real well.
