Donald Trump 2018

No way it's going to happen because Trump thinks he's untouchable and incapable of listening  to others.  But, if Pence is involved and it's as bad as it appears to be, the GOP should convince both Trump and Pence to step down before the end of the year. That way Ryan becomes President and the GOP maintains control of the Executive. If both of them are taken down before 2020 it's Pelosi.

You may end up being right.  “You can’t indict a sitting president!” is a canard on par with “NO COLLUSION!”

There is no law shielding a president from prosecution for crimes unrelated to his official duties and, in my view (and that of Kenneth Starr), law and policy require that a president not be immune from such prosecution.  Congressmen can be indicted.  Judges can be indicted.  Why could the president not be?  How the fuck can someone justify reading absolute legal immunity for the president into the Constitution, when the dudes who wrote the damned thing fought a revolution against that very idea?

He’s been running a massive criminal enterprise for years. Once all the dots are connected, it all comes crashing down, despite Brisket’s “but the SENATe!?!?” caterwauling. There wont be a place to hide politically. It will be clear we elected a criminal with the help of a foreign adversary.

It will be clear.
So? The GOP is a criminal enterprise occupying and controlling our government. Like any other criminal enterprise, they aren’t vacating without a SWAT raid.
But there’s no SWAT team. Nobody is coming to save us.

You’ll be wrong. But to your credit, you’ll be the most wrong anyone has ever been on a message board. Not an insignificant achievement.

I hope to clear that bar. I truly do.
But what gives you any reason to believe that the GOP will accept a turning electoral tide? See what happened in NC, Georgia, etc. and after the election, see what they’re doing in Wisconsin. These are the actions of a criminal enterprise.

1) Does Geraldo think this is over, and this is all there is?

2) Does Geraldo realize that the sitting president was accused of felonies?

All Geraldo realizes is that Trump will put forth a tweet with @GeraldoRivera in it which keeps his name and brand semi-relevant.

I understand that indicting or prosecuting a president is uncharted water,  thank god, but I don’t understand why some stick to the narrative it can’t be done.   One of the main principles that our country was founded was that no one was above the law.  If you can’t be indicted, then you’re above the law.    Therefore the president should face the consequences of being indictable.

now without a doubt, house impeachment and senate conviction would seem to have a lower bar than a prosecution so it would be a logical first step but the realities of politics don’t always allow it to occur.

You think back to the messages from the loudest mouthpieces for the GOP -- talk radio and Fox. They've stoked the fire of fear since the early 90s. Death panels, MS-13, Ds will raise your taxes, etc. The Clintons and the Ds in general are crooks who are always getting one over on you.

GOP voters are on the winning team now, and they're not going to fire their coach no matter how much he cheats.

There are a lot of people out there who are too proud to admit they made a mistake in backing this guy.  They are going to keep trying to justify their decision, and soon it will be justifying why they continue to support him, because the trump tower deal is just the first wave of stuff about to hit teamtrumptards.  Remember those fools

He's going to lose badly.

A majority of Americans are either thrilled at best, or just fine at worst, with exactly what is going on right now.  That doesn’t give me a lot of confidence that anything is going to change.

Edit: that being said, I do hold out a bit of hope that Trump dies of a massive heart attack or stroke soon, or preferably, he commits suicide in some very public and spectacular fashion.

I think a recession is imminent and when that happens his numbers will go down into the 20s. The strong economy is the only thing keeping him at 40 percent. It’s a testament to how much of a piece of shit president he is that he’s only at 40 percent with this economy.

We can stop that. All Americans who are sane, regardless of their philosophical bend need to primary Trump. We all need to vote for whatever Republican he runs against who can be a decent leader. Once he is primaried, we can vote our preferences. Hopefully, we can select from sane people who can lead and who listen to the opinion of experts. We have to do this. We can't allow anymore corrosion of our republic and our reputation.

You're forgetting that the House is will be controlled by the the Dems come January so if the economy tanks in the next two years, the GOP will blame them, and as usual, a large chunk of the American people will believe them despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Fuck that. The whole Republican Party is complicit. I bet in less than 4 years most republicans are going to conveniently forget their enabling of trump. We need a Democrat to have a veto proof majority plus the next presidency to unfuck all the actions trumps and republicans have done

And here is the issue trying to debate Brisket’s fatalism.  No matter what supporting evidence, plausible scenarios, or historical examples you use to support your position, Brisket will laugh at your naiveté and remind you that you’re wrong.

Im not saying Brisket’s assessment is made in error but it reeks of an arrogant absolutism as if the future has been predetermined.

It has not.  I don’t know what is going to happen or how this plays out but I do know the Trump movement isn’t growing in United States.  The GOP is currently on the run and their future looks darker by the day.  They will eventually have to adapt to the will of the population or die.  How long this process will take is the big mystery.

People are dumb but not that dumb. It’s like when the republicans tried to claim they were supporters of pre existing conditions during the mid terms. Nobody believed that and it backfired because it highlighted a weakness.

Trump will of course blame the dem house for the recession but it won’t work. People tend to pay a lot closer attention when their own wallet starts getting affected and don’t fall for obvious bullshit.

Grifter gonna grift.

This is shit straight out of The Sopranos.

Trump Tower Commercial LLC, an entity owned 100% by the president, has charged the reelection campaign $665,000 in rent, according to federal filings. The Republican National Committee also coordinated with the campaign to pay an additional $225,000 in rent. Campaign representatives did not respond to requests for comment, and an RNC official declined to answer questions about the payments, leaving it unclear exactly how much space they leased inside Trump Tower.

But it appears to be plenty. Leading up to the 2016 election, the president’s campaign paid an average of $2,700 in monthly Trump Tower rent for every person listed in campaign filings as receiving a “payroll” payment. The 2020 operation, by contrast, is shelling out an average of $6,300 in monthly rent for every such person.

Then there are the payments flowing into Trump Plaza LLC, a Trump-owned entity that has taken in $42,000 of campaign money since November 2017. Although federal filings list the purpose of those payments as “rent,” it is difficult to tell what the campaign is actually renting. Trump Plaza LLC controls a retail space, garage and two brownstones near Third Avenue in New York City. The retail space at Trump Plaza shows no signs of campaign activity, and a non-Trump company seems to sub-lease the garage from Trump Plaza LLC—leaving just the two brownstones. But they are not open to the public, making it difficult to see who the tenants are, and whether they include the president’s campaign.

So Forbes staked out the buildings, arriving at 7:15 a.m. one November morning and staying for the next 14 hours, with the exception of an 18-minute break around 3 p.m. By our count, seven people went in and out of the twin, four-story brownstones over the course of the day. One refused to talk, and six said they had not seen any sign of the campaign in the buildings. Nor had a man behind the front desk at Trump Plaza. “I’ve been here since the beginning,” he said. “If there was any kind of office rented out for campaigning or whatever, I would know about it.”

Is the Trump campaign simply funneling money into the president’s business and getting nothing in return? That seems unlikely. One person who worked on the 2016 campaign said staffers sometimes crashed at Trump Plaza when they were in town. If that’s the reason for the payments, it would be an unconventional arrangement. The campaign could, of course, pay for hotel rooms—although that would not guarantee a steady stream of rent for the president.

From November 2017 to August 2018, the Trump campaign paid Trump Plaza LLC an average of $4,200 per month. The real estate website StreetEasy lists recent rentals in the building for $3,700 to $3,850 per month. Candidates are permitted to do business with their own companies only if they pay fair-market prices.

There are other campaign payments that raise suspicions. One month after Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election, the campaign paid the Trump Corporation, another one of the president’s companies, $90,000 in “legal consulting” expenses, according to federal records. It is not clear what legal services Trump’s company provided the campaign, or what rate it charged for the work. A spokesperson for the Trump Organization did not respond to requests for comment.

Trump’s 2020 campaign also spent about $120,000 at the president’s hotel in Washington, D.C. And the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas got $15,000 of campaign money in February 2017.

Yes, no.  He will be re-elected.

Last month showed he's not winning Arizona (11 EVs), Michigan (16 EVs), Pennsylvania (20 EVs), and Wisconsin (10 EVs) in 2020.

Show us on the map where he's going to make up those 57 electoral votes.

And that's not even getting into states that are swinging dangerously close to Dems such as Georgia (16 EVs, Trump won by 212k), North Carolina (15 EVs, Trump won by 160,000), and the Holy Grail, Florida (29 EVs, Trump won by 115,000).

If Trump loses any three of those 7 states, he's not occupying the WH past January of 2021.  And he's definitely losing at least three out of that first four, and probably all four.
