I don't know if I am included in this, but I don't think it is partisan sniping to explain why people are angry.

I am not saying whether the anger is justified, but it is also simply not correct to state that people are angry simply that Trump visited a church. To use an analogy I used in another thread, it's like expressing disbelief that putting your finger on a piece of curved metal and pulling can get you charged with murder by firearm!

You’re not, at least primarily. I had in mind more the type of posts you were responding to.

So wait, people are giving the POTUS shit for visiting a church which was burned down by commie terrorists?!?

Maybe it's just me, but the outrage seems a bit misplaced.

WTF?  Is this real life?

There was a fire in the basement, it wasn’t burned down. And yes, people are upset he had his military police flash bang peaceful protesters just so he could have a photo op.

FTR it wasn’t burned down. Someone set a fire in the nursery in the basement, luckily only minor damage.

Sad that you are more upset about this instead of the lack of leadership across every heavily democratic city this past weekend. The peaceful protests have been completely hijacked by organized domestic terrorists and no one seems to understand the difference. These people want to divide us more and more and destroy this country. Civil War is what they want and frankly, we are heading toward that.

GMAFB.

The two things are not remotely on the same level.  For anyone to think that is a desirable, or even reasonable, thing to do under these circumstances blows me away.

@Sgt Hulk I ask you also. Is it the church visit itself that you think is causing anger? Would orange man bad lead to the bishop of the church calling out Trump if he just walked over without any violence?

Bro. Orange man bad is the reason for all anger in the world. The world was a utopia of greatness until Nov 2016 my friend.   Ok no more cr as i don’t want to get blacklabbed

Where riots raged decades ago, shopkeepers again clean up shattered glass

...The smashed windows of a Tiffany & Co. and a Bobby Van’s Steakhouse at the center of downtown. Plywood over the windows of an Apple store, its entrance marked with graffiti that read “Capitalism is Murder...”

...The damage was not limited to downtown, extending several miles into normally tranquil residential neighborhoods including Georgetown, Cleveland Park, Tenleytown and Friendship Heights, where packs of looters had broken into a gas station, a liquor store, drugstores, a TJ Maxx outlet and the upscale Mazza Gallerie shopping mall.

“We all got pretty scared,” said Nolan Rodman, 30, referring to the moments before looters threw a chair through the window of his family’s eponymous, 65-year-old supermarket and drugstore on Wisconsin Avenue NW.

The thieves stole bottles of wine, pills, blood pressure medication — anything they could stuff into their backpacks. “These kids were idiots,” Rodman said Monday after the store had reopened. “They didn’t know what they were doing. They were young and dumb...”

...Anwar Saleem, 65, is the head of H Street Main Street, a business association for the resurgent corridor in the city’s Northeast quadrant that was devastated during the 1968 riots, an event he witnessed as a youngster.

Over the past two decades, Saleem has helped to revive H Street, which is now one of the city’s trendiest neighborhoods, rife with gourmet food markets, bars and pricey restaurants. In the past couple of days, eight H Street businesses have been vandalized, including a CVS and a Starbucks, and six others owned by African Americans.

“We worked hard to rebuild H Street — it took 60 years,” Saleem said. “For people to come down to destroy what we rebuilt is disingenuous. These people are not protesting anything. These folks are burglars...”

...On 15th Street NW, Joseph Smith, the longtime owner of Bobby Van’s, asked his staff to board up his well-known steakhouse — but mainly for appearances. Looters, a morass of 200 to 300 at a time, according to surveillance video, had hit the restaurant Saturday and Sunday. Little remained to steal.

“What they didn’t take, they broke,” said Smith, estimating more than $100,000 in damage and cataloguing a list of losses that included computers, televisions, wine cabinets and all the liquor.

“These people were just animals bent on destruction,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

The restaurant had reopened Friday night after a three-month novel coronavirus shutdown, a separate catastrophe that forced Smith to furlough 400 employees. On that first night back, all 40 dining slots — the maximum allowed under the city’s social distancing restrictions — filled up within an hour. Customers ate and chatted at outdoor tables in the warm and humid air.

A few hours after a second crop of customers arrived Saturday night, the looting began. The restaurant will remain closed for at least the next couple of days.

“I don’t know what we pay taxes for,” Smith said. “We’re not getting any protection....

Apparently this guy hasn't seen the Godfather.  you pay taxes so you don't get shut down or go to jail.  you don't pay taxes for protection.

I heard the Austin police chief said 3 people are in the hospital for non lethal rounds.  a 20 something, a teenager(assuming under 18), and a pregnant woman.  what the hell are a teenager and pregnant woman doing anywhere near that shit when antifa/looting is involved. stay the fuck home.

Just to be clear, you‘re blaming the people that are in the hospital, not the people that put them in the hospital, correct?

Watched CNN video coverage for about an hour, then watched Fox video coverage for about an hour. It really reminded me of the old “three sides to every story” analogy. It’s like both networks are reporting on separate events on different planets. Both are batshit crazy as fuck.

so every mayor is saying the looters are not from local.  so does antifa send Dallas folks to Chicago, Chicago to DC, DC to Philly, Minnesota to LA?  The planes must be full.  thats some damn good organization.
Well, the looters in Manhattan do not live in Manhattan. But I'd guess they are def NY Metro area.

They aren't. In Dallas, there were 60 arrests over the weekend. Only one was from out of state. The rest were from Dallas or the cities around Dallas. Were there anarchist wannabes and assholes taking advantage to break shit and have anarchist fantasies, sure. But they were from the area. Even Minneapolis backed off their initial claim.

maybe google it.

The teenager was 16, during the early day protest. He went on his own (family didnt know), was standing around, and as far as the video shows, doing nothing threatening. and yet there is video of him getting deliberately aimed at and dropped by an APD officer who hit him with a beanbag round to the head.

good point. I guess if there were people from the 46 rioting in the 04 you could technically say "Hunter and Bryce are outside agitators and not from here"

I certainly wasn't saying they did anything wrong or needed to be shot at.

From someone that found themselves basically retired at 36, the answer is: it’s painfully boring hanging out with your family and 70 year olds every day.

Yea dunno.. probably by age 42.5 you’d be looking for something part time To do

Retirement at an early age isn't for everyone.  Trying to retire young/early was almost the death of me.  Anyone who can and successfully does, salud.  Personally I felt empty if I wasn't out busting ass for 12 hours per day.  As a result, I wound up building restaurants and motels. Boring.  So I tried to add day trading to the mix.  While exciting and profitable, that combined with the restaurants and motels had me working 20 hours a day.  Needless to say I couldn't hold up to the grind, but to spend less time on the ventures wouldn't be "doing it right".  After suffering back to back bouts with pneumonia I wound up with congestive heart failure and was given only a 2 in 10 chance of living 2 years and was told that I'd spend my few remaining days on oxygen. I prayed and prayed that if I ever survived, I'd say screw the money, put it aside and go back to my first love, construction.  I did and I did, and have never looked back and have been the most grateful son of a gun you'd ever meet.

Did this myself, it’s staggering.
