My brother is there with his 18 year old daughter. Good learning experience for her before she goes off to college in the fall.

Never heard of this story of Elijah McClain. 23 yr old black man killed by Aurora Police a few months ago while walking home. Dude would spent his free time playing music for homeless kittens.

Video of part of the incident is below. One of the cops is caught on camera telling another cop to cover their body camera. Nobody charged, nobody suspended, all officers still on the job.

Video of the incident:

They shot him up with Ketamine.  JFC paramedics.

Do no harm...

And this is an example of police brutality in general. Vid says it's standard practice to sedate the guy in cases like this. If they're doing it to ALL races, that's a whole new level of messed up.

If people are going to gather and protest anyway I wish they could set up a stage in DC on BLM Blvd. and have RATM play for the president.

There has to be something more modern than Rage.  Maybe Dead Kennedys are available?

Went to a BLM Protest in KELLER, Tx where I live today.  The estimates are that there were about 3k people there.....definitely a different feel and huge opportunity here.

When the burb I live in and Southlake next door are drawing those kinds of crowds, especially considering the oppressive heat for a noon start it's really something.

More fallout from the Tom Cotton op-ed.

That's just wild.  Fired for running an op-ed from a sitting US senator.

Anyone seen estimates of the crowd size for the Austin protests today? From the pictures, it looked massive.

It was a metric shit ton.

And goddamn it was hot. Lotta people handing out water, masks, ice pops...but still, just plain hot. We listened to all. We marched to the Capitol and listened. Don’t know if we’ve ever been in anything that big. But we left from downtown....the heat really took it out of us older folks by the end.

I know all backgrounds and ages are represented in the protests, but it looks to me like a youth movement is popping upas well.

anecdote, my mom called me this morning and said there was going to be a protest in town and they are busing people in to Victoria from San Antonio and Houston. I stopped her, went straight to the point and called it bullshit. She said some neighborhood watch posted some social media rumors from the police department.  Never in my 31 years on Earth has she ever mentioned the neighborhood watch one time. I went to the VPD Facebook page and of course there is a big post saying none of it is true and it’s  being organized by locals. Thinking people would leave San Antonio or Houston to take a bus to Victoria to loot is the height of crazy.

There’s a big HEB in Victoria and sometimes, it’s open.

Well shit, I guess I will just have to loot Houston then.  I hope Soros gets a refund.

"Kindergartners?  seriously?"

"Wait, nevermind.  I meant they were given to us by college students."

"Oh yeah, which school do they attend?"

"Uhhh...they go to the University...of the United States."

"Really, I've never heard of it."

"Well, it's very small.  They don't even have a basketball team."

Sounds like you let a great opportunity to mess with your mom go to waste.

Most modern is going to be Run the Jewels. It's also fitting because an honorary member of Run The Jewels is RATM's Zach de la Rocha. Killer Mike's line on Walking In The Snow gives me chills:

They promise education, but really they give you tests and scores
And they predictin' prison population by who scoring the lowest
And usually the lowest scores the poorest and they look like me

And every day on evening news they feed you fear for free
And you so numb you watch the cops choke out a man like me
And 'til my voice goes from a shriek to whisper, "I can't breathe"

The telltale whimsical, tidy pseudo-cursive handwriting of a kindergartener:

Not to compliment that handwriting in particular, but you must know some kindergartners with excellent penmanship.

Florida attorney and congressional candidate Dan Helm is the one whose signature looks like a third grader's.

Killer Mike ain’t no slouch. He knows what he raps about. He also worked with Bernie a lot and is an outspoken proponent of the 2A.
Also RTJ has released four albums, all of them free.

Not to go all Miss Marple or anything, but someone who tweets about sending "personalized" thank you notes in April, is president of Take Back Austin, and is running for city council may just be where the handwriting experts wish to begin their sleuthing.

There's also a version of RTJ2 out there somewhere with all of the swear words muted in case your young kids are interested...

These threads move too fast for me. Are you saying fitlump wrote the thank you notes?

Some pics from DC today:

We broke off just before Romney joined the march, but I’m very glad we went down. DC is surreal right now, and the capital area looks more like The Division 2 than the city I remember.
