Again, any of you responding to Icono should save your breath. blacklab moved this so Icono can stay in his safe space on DT and be as political as he wants to be without any pushback. The space where all the usual right wing posters who used to be here hang out and pos rep each other. The same thing they accuse the lefties of doing here.

while they all whine "no politics, just the news take it to CR >>>"

So he went to two churches, and neither expected or wanted him there. It's almost as though he doesn't have a regular church that he could go to and be welcomed, yet the idiot religious types insist he's more christian than Obama and the libruls. Why didn't he just go to one of those fraudulent fuckstain megachurces in Dallas and Houston where they would be more than happy to embrace him and use the photos for tax-free fundraising?

It's funny, over 15 Presbyterian Churches (Trump's self-proclaimed Protestant Faith) in the District of Columbia.

I know he's been busy being POTUS, but in 3.5 years...he hasn't managed to join a single one of them.

^^^ When the optics are so bad you need to create a lie, that if believed, makes you look like a clueless buffoon.

Esper wants us to believe he is a unaware fool rather than be complicit in that photo op.

I know it's tiresome, but every day you can just marvel, "What would white evangelicals say if Obama had __________?"

You can finish that sentence in thousands of ways.  "...paid off a pornstar after cheating on his third wife who was home with their baby?"  "...been caught on a hot mic bragging about grabbing women's pussies?"  "...welcomed and cooperated with Russian efforts to subvert an American election?"

In today's episode, let's ask, "What would white evangelicals say if Obama had publicly rejected the foundational New Testament idea of repentance and redemption?"

Evangelicals have made a deal with the devil.  And not for something good like Robert Johnson's Crossroads or Hellhound on my trail, but for return to white racist hegemony.

He literally looks like every kid before church confirmation where the parents made them get dressed up, hold their embossed bible, and pose in front of the church so they can send the pics to grandma and grandpa to show they're raising their kid in the church like they asked.

You could ask him, "Mr. President.....this church was named for Saint John.  John was also knows as John the, blank.  Starts with an 'A', ends with an 'E'.  Any idea, sir.  John the...what?"
And Trump would reply "the Asshole?"  And his Evangelical base would donate another million dollars.

Jeffress' church in Dallas, maybe.  Here's how shitty things look for him: Joel Osteen marched yesterday (granted, Lakewood has a large african American membership, so he pretty much had to....but still....)

Also, since this thread is some theological discussion of what's happening now, here's an EXCELLENT theological refutation of the "but ALL lives matter" refrain we've heard over, and over, and over (for the clear purpose of ignoring the proposition that Black Lives Matter, as we've seen in practice):

Quote

I also saw a post by a Christian activist that explained it in biblical terms to help loving and compassionate people who feel that they are only affirming the value of all lives understand as well:

He quotes Luke 15 and paraphrases the passage which is a story of 100 sheep when 1 goes missing and Jesus goes to find the missing sheep. The explanation of the 99 sheep viewpoint is “but what about us? Don’t we matter?” And the explanation is “of course the 99 still matter but they aren’t the ones in danger. The one is.”

If we would even PRETEND to be Christ-like (so, Christians, or anyone who would claim that label....this means you), then we must do HIS work here, which is to tend to that one sheep that is in the most danger.  We're the 99 sheep.  The pasture has been plenty safe for us, relatively speaking (not that the wolves out there don't take swipes at us, too).  Our call as Christians is to do Christ's work and tend to the sheep that is in danger.
