The middle hasn't gone anywhere and in fact is probably much bigger than it has ever been before.

I certainly hope the middle decides to participate in the political process even if they aren't screaming on social media or in the street. /No CR.

everything is political. every. fucking. thing.
some of it is painful and long overdue but other shit is political just because it's a sport to bitch and overthrow the system. what system you ask? the same fucking system both sides bitch about, revolt against, and blame the other side for. it's a convenient, made up, everlong boogeyman to assert the many causes du jour.
it's like we are living through an endless twilight zone nightmare that will never fucking end.
i'm not rooting for anyone. i just want the shit to stop and sanity to come back.
sadly it won't. wont matter if trump or biden gets elected. it'll just add conviction to the "losing" side to be more of an ass and the "winning" side to more obstinate and more of an ass. people forget that "We the people" means we're all in it together.
as i look towards retirement, i really am starting to look at canada, some rural drug war free place in mexico, or some inexpensive country with kick ass food to move to.
so fucking tired of this shit.

Let us know what you find. The snag is always healthcare.

Oh, and the "middle" are more worried about their family and dealing with everyday shit then they are about some Karen getting pissed she has to wear a mask at HEB, or someone that got their feelings hurt by someone that used the wrong fucking pronoun.

Fuck yes right here.  You could say they turn a bit of a blind eye to many of societies ills as well though.

Ah yes, half of the twitter warriors would claim conspiracy while the other half would claim we deserved it.

Actually, that sounds a lot like what happened back in 2001. Maybe we've always been retarded.

2 cute little tweets. Once it hits their home it's a problem,  Yes let's defund the police, but then we're gonna need private security for our state elected officials...  Yes let's create autonomous zones, but they better not try to make my home part of it...

Hypocicy knows no boundaries.

This is just getting started.  Jenny crying for an investigation into Sawant for leading a march to her unlisted property (protected from her work as a US attorney).

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan sent a letter to the City Council requesting it exercise its duties and investigate Councilmember Kshama Sawant.

Quote

In the letter, Durkan says that she has "deep concerns about the continued actions of a Councilmember" and asks the Council to investigate Sawant's actions and determine if any action should be taken.

The letter lists several alleged actions that Durkan believes are grounds for an investigation and potential expulsion from the council, under Article IV, Section 4 of the charter.
The list of allegations from Durkan includes:

  • Potentially delegating decisions regarding hiring to an outside political organization.
  • Allowing hundreds of protesters into City Hall after hours, against the city's COVID-19 protections and risking the safety of workers.
  • Encouraging protesters to occupy the East Precinct, using her position as a Councilmember.
  • Leading a protest to Durkan's home despite the address being protected from her work as a U.S. Attorney.

Ballgame or Game on?

Ballgame for Jenny.  the Socialist Alternative is going to win this one.  Durkan has some protection due to being under Obama and her family history but the old school democrat is going the way of the Dodo.

Not CHAZ, but another protest related shooting.

Quote

Provo police have confirmed that one person was shot during a protest Monday night near the police department.

The victim, a 60-year-old Provo resident, remained hospitalized Tuesday but was “stable,” according to police. The man was not part of the protest or counterprotest that had been going on, but was just driving in the area, said Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King.

The victim was driving a white SUV on University Avenue and was attempting to turn onto Center Street when a group of protestors began “crowding around the vehicle. A male protester ran to the SUV on the passenger side, pointed a handgun at (the) driver and shot one round through the window,” according to a a synopsis of the incident by Provo Deputy Police Chief John Geyerman.

The driver, who was struck by a bullet, “hit the gas trying to leave the situation,” Geyerman said.

Yep, summer of love and all.  I think it is safe to say her career is going to be over soon.  But then again never underestimate the stupidity of the Seattle voting base.

They will re-elect her.  Count on it.  There is no bottom.

Completely agree.  Unfortunately, the middle also doesn't vote that often and when they do (national elections) they're given two options presented by political parties dominated by the most tribal, i.e. idiotic, among eligible voters.  So "the middle" (which encompasses many different sets of values) is rendered completely pointless when facing a two party system with more and more divergent viewpoints between the parties.  This kind of worked for much of the 20th century when there wasn't really too much significant difference between Republicans and Democrats, but it sure doesn't work anymore.  And the squishy middle no longer has any power and rather than do something about it, is just sitting back watching the crazies on both sides burn this fucker down.

So the cops moved in at 5am this morning.  The people associated with the BLM group moved out last night.  Somebody got paid, and a heads up.

They started clearing and shutting down around noon yesterday

So apparently the two people shot were 14 and 16 year old black kids.  Wtf.

Per local reddit

NSFL  the chaz “security” laughing about running out of bullets

Here is more detail on the shooting:

Seattle CHOP zone armed 'security' killed black teen driver, 16, and wound 14-year-old passenger when they opened fire on their Jeep as it approached barricades at 3am - but protesters inside cop-free area claim they acted in self-defense

I wonder if CHAZ security folks "feared for their lives" when they shot at these two black teens (and killed one).
