Another solid documentary from HBO. I was never a huge Elvis fan, but I liked a few of his songs. The film digs into the behind the scenes stuff with Col Parker pretty well but kinda glosses over the drug use. All the "what could have been" was fascinating. Didn't know he never toured outside the US.

Got it recorded and have not watched it yet but Col. Parker was a POS SOB, all around. Elvis could have been even bigger but that would have meant for Parker to let him out from under his thumb.

i watched episode 1 yesterday and was not that impressed.  it seems wandering and aimless.  i do like the music and the era and the revolution he caused.  I will probably watch episode 2, but i'm not learning anything i didn't already know.

^If you know the history of Elvis, this does not shed any new light. The main reason to watch it is for the commentary by Springsteen and Petty(RIP). Even that does not bring it to must watch but it will make you feel a little less like you wasted your time. Also, the ending is really done well.

Don't really know anything about Elvis. Kinda interesting. E.g., didn't realize he never toured outside the U.S. Colonel also seems like a complete douchebag.
