Joel Greenberg, a former elected official in Florida and ally of Rep. Matt Gaetz, made more than 150 payments via Venmo to dozens of women as well as a 17-year-old girl, according to documents reviewed by The Daily Beast.

Greenberg, who was indicted on 33 counts last year, including one related to sex trafficking, paid the 17-year-old $300 in a June 2017 payment labeled "Food," according to The Daily Beast.

Gaetz, a Republican of Florida, sent a Venmo payment to Greenberg nearly a year later that was intended for the same person, according to The Daily Beast.

The outlet reported Wednesday it reviewed additional documents that showed many payments Greenberg made to women with labels that included "Ass," "Stuff," or just a lipstick kiss emoji.

The new documents also showed a $300 payment Gaetz made to Greenberg in November 2018 that was simply labeled with the "love hotel emoji." The Daily Beast also confirmed Greenberg booked a single night at a hotel for the same date.

The outlet also reported Greenberg paid thousands of dollars to a woman who would later date Gaetz.

When reached for comment on The Daily Beast report, a representative for Gaetz said: "This seems more like a story about Mr. Greenberg than Mr. Gaetz."

So Matt retweeted this, no surprise there; it does like like the Federalist is coming down on the side of the fascisty seditious pervs. Especially since they dropped this on te day after the sanctions. Nice to know where everyone is positioning for 2022.

Yes, I know the 'bounty' story behind the scenes, but I find the call out specifically against Cheney the main story.

No. But he’s a nationally recognized figure. Much more so than Gaetz.

He must be the Qanon Congressman. Liberals are way more interested and know way more about him than actual conservatives.

Pleading ignorance is fucking adorable.

Might be some recorded calls and more cooperating witnesses.

Yikes

Until now, there were signs the alleged sex-trafficking victim was not cooperating with federal authorities. In August, prior to Greenberg’s sex-trafficking indictment, Greenberg said in a WhatsApp chat with another friend that he was paying for her attorney at the time and that she was resistant to cooperating with investigators.

y’all ‘member when GR tried to convince everyone he was a physician early in the Covid thread? despite it being patently obvious he wasn’t a doctor, he steadfastly kept lying.

cuz i ‘member...

he’s just piece of shit with an inferiority complex...probably has a micropeen.

he’s the rare guy that you laugh at humiliatingly while simultaneously pitying.

he’s certainly not worth anyone’s anger.

I regret to inform you that I am in fact a physician, and a rich one at that.

I’m a product of our fine University system. Undergrad and Med school.

I don't know about you, but if a carrot on my plate was ass cooked regardless of the size of said ass, I would definitely not return.

Phrasing....

Nothing says rich like a regular paycheck. Imagine what Cornelius Vanderbilt's paycheck was.

I'm picturing he, John Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie all sitting around on their laptops on a message board  during some random Saturday bragging about how wealthy they are to the common folk mouthbreathers that make up a majority of the posters.

Add to that that they probably leave early and have some flunky clock them out at quitting time so they got paid for hours they didn't even work.

None of us may be as rich as those fuckers, but after taking a shit, those guys had their asses wiped by servants using sponges on the ends of sticks.

Meanwhile, here in 2021, us middle-class schlubs have bidets pumping out coconut water.

https://www.lx.com/politics/matt-gaetz-using-donors-dollars-on-legal-bills-as-feds-investigate-possible-sex-trafficking/35238/

Quote

Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, facing allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, has tapped into a reliable source of funds to subsidize his legal tab: campaign donors’ contributions.

Quote

According to Gaetz’ newest campaign disclosure, filed Thursday, the congressman has spent $85,626 of donors’ dollars on legal consulting since last July, with the first payments coming just weeks after the initial indictment of his friend and associate, former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg.  More Greenberg charges, related to sex trafficking, came in August.

Quote

Gaetz’ campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) do not specify what services were provided by DC law firm Venable, LLP, but the firm’s website touts its experience in congressional investigations and collected more than $64,000 from the Gaetz campaign in the second half of 2020.

Quote

The Gaetz campaign had spent a total of just $9,113 on legal consulting between 2016 and 2019, and had never worked with Venable prior to July 2020.

Quote

“You can only use campaign funds to pay for legal bills for problems that are connected to your official duties in office,” said attorney Craig Engle, who leads the political law group for the Arent Fox law firm.

Engle said most of the allegations against Gaetz would likely fall under “personal” expenses, rather than official Congressional expenses, but bills specifically-related to an ethics or campaign finance investigation could likely be paid with campaign funds.

Using campaign funds to pay for personal legal bills could be a violation of federal campaign finance laws.

"Leader McCarthy, should we remove Matt from any committees based on his misconduct with underage girls?"

"Nah, that seems a bit harsh.  Let him have his day in court and we'll decide based on that.  Until then, he's a loyal servant of the people."

"Leader McCarthy, he took money that could have been used by the House Republican Conference from his general campaign funds and used them for hush money, payoffs, and legal fees."

"Fuck him.  Slash his tires, burn his Chess King suits, and knock that quiff off his head.  You can fuck with Florida teens in Alabama, but you don't fuck my with my coffers."

I like how the bounties are "fake news" just because the intelligence didn't have ironclad sourcing. I'm not famil with the federalist, but I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that everything they publish would qualify as "fake news" under that definition.

Quote

As Rep. Matt Gaetz combats allegations that he was involved in a sex ring, the Florida Republican’s latest campaign finance report reflects a public relations scramble that began even before he acknowledged being the focus of a federal investigation.

The filing, which covers the three months between January and March, shows that Gaetz has incurred unprecedented fundraising expenses during a typically quiet period. In that time, Gaetz dropped six figures on a direct mail blitz, shelling out more for fundraising services than he did in all of 2020.

Quote

Gaetz also paid $5,000 in “strategic consulting” fees to notorious political operative Roger Stone, and he gave money to a number of GOP Florida state lawmakers that he’s never supported before. The report also indicates that Gaetz—who cites his lack of friends in Washington as a point of pride—may be increasingly isolated; he’s received no contributions from his GOP colleagues.

Quote

Months before news broke that the feds were investigating him for sex trafficking, Rep. Matt Gaetz was at the center of a separate internal fight at the Justice Department. The sparring match involved an Oval Office meeting, a foul-mouthed threat from the attorney general and voting in Florida. It has not been previously reported.

Quote

Gaetz said that Trump then told White House counsel Pat Cipollone, who was in the room, to tell Attorney General William Barr that Trump believed Keefe’s legal theory had merit.

Quote

When Barr learned about Gaetz’s conversation with the president, he was incensed. The attorney general called the U.S. attorney and gave him an earful, according to two people familiar with the call.

“If I ever hear of you talking to Gaetz or any other congressman again about business before the department, I am going to fucking fire your ass,” Barr told him, according to one of the people with knowledge of the call.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/23/politics/gaetz-probe-public-corruption-medical-marijuana/index.html

Quote

Federal authorities are looking into whether a 2018 trip to the Bahamas involving Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz and several young women was part of an orchestrated effort to illegally influence Gaetz in the area of medical marijuana, people briefed on the matter told CNN.

Prosecutors with the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section are examining whether Gaetz took gifts, including travel and paid escorts, in exchange for political favors, the sources said.

Quote

As part of an ongoing probe into Gaetz, investigators are examining whether he engaged in a relationship with a girl that began when she was 17. In pursuing evidence of potential public corruption, sources tell CNN that investigators are also scrutinizing Gaetz's connections to medical marijuana, both in terms of legislation he's sponsored and his connections to people involved in the industry, searching for so-called pay-to-play arrangements.

Quote

Gaetz has a long history of advocating for medical marijuana and has introduced several pieces of legislation seeking to loosen laws regulating the drug, both as a state representative in Florida and as a member of Congress. A number of his close associates have ties to the industry, including Jason Pirozzolo, a Florida doctor who founded a medical marijuana advocacy group and has in past news coverage in Florida been described as a "marijuana investor." According to reports, Pirozzolo accompanied Gaetz on the 2018 trip to the Bahamas that investigators are scrutinizing.

Donnie not actually supporting Gaetz, and Tucker putting that out there has got to make Matt nervous.

I mean, Carlson’s but was to kick the idea that public opinion had labeled Gaetz a sex trafficker before charges have been filed. Gaetz is probably happy Carlson is supporting him again. At least that’s my take from that snippet. Nevermind the fact that Gaetz being silent is his own choice.

Gaetz is running ads on Pensacola area TV showing campaign style video bites of his capped teeth, chin, jawbones, beady eyes and pompadour, with headline font message, "THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS WORRIED ABOUT MATT GAETZ" and similar dreck, with instructions on how to donate.  What a nasty little weasel.  The sooner he crashes and burns the better.
