This.  He seems legitimately surprised that having a sugar-daddy relationship with an underage girl might put him in prison.  Above everything else, he is just so fucking stupid.

The thing is that self-righteous loudmouths are typically conmen. They gain support by shouting about morals and religion and culture, but they don’t believe any of it. Moral outrage is just the lever they use to manipulate stupid, angry people to vote for them. And it works over and over and over again.

There was one?

This morning,

Luke's friend: Luke, did you know you're still listed as communications director for Gaetz?

Luke: Oh, hell no.  Good looking out.

Exactly. They’ve been having to comment on whether gaetz pays for sex or shares nude photos woof women he claimed to have slept with. I imagine that many comms directors or other staff aren’t in DC to be an employee of someone that is falling head first into a criminal/sex/creep scandal.

Gaetz (in true GQP fashion) is planning on just going with a full conspiracy theory, shit flinging response, and this guy cant stomach having to peddle the narrative. No matter how bad the reality is for Gaetz, he will always claim he is the victim. That's the Trump Way. So let it be written, so let it be done.

Looking at Joel Greenberg's twitter and it's all MAGA bullshit and I imagine that's how he won the office in the first place.  What the hell has any of that got to do with collecting taxes in Seminole County?  Yo, Seminole County voters, next time just elect someone competent that you're pretty sure isn't a lowlife crook.

Counterpoint: Gym and MTG speak for the heart and soul of the GQP, not the "major Republicans."

When Trump fucked up/fucked around, a lot of the rank-and-file Republicans in Congress would immediately rush to his defense.

Matt Gaetz fucked around, and he's got Gym and MTG, and a lot of crickets chirping.

Matt Gertz, a senior fellow at Media Matters, was targeted on Twitter Wednesday in the wake of a New York Times report that alleges Representative Matt Gaetz is being investigated by the Justice Department over whether he violated federal sex trafficking laws.

Gertz, whose name is only a few letters off from Gaetz’, was getting mis-tagged in tweet after tweet in response to the investigations. Gertz’ Twitter handle is @MattGertz, and Gaetz’ Twitter handle is @MattGaetz.

Classic mixup

Y'all stop it with the PTSD Eeyore ledge talk. Gaetz is walking the plank, getting tarred and feathered, and run out of town on a rail. Trump's out of power. The head of the snake has been lopped off, and this Gaetz shit is the rest of the serpent writhing around mindlessly. The GQP won't be finding another Trump anytime soon, and the man himself will probably be dead, imprisoned, barred from running, or non compos mentis by 2024. This movement has peaked. It will be a pain in the ass for some time to come, but many are dying off daily and some of the others are losing their fervor.

The question around why this guy is using SA or some other forum for his hookups, when he could probably do well on his own, likely hinges on the age of his preference. They don't ask him questions, they don't want to scold him, they don't look for answers...

Spoiler

I mean, you're probably right but I understand why people aren't exactly at ease.

Also – we need to continue to step on the GQP's throats while they're gasping for air. No quarter for these traitorous assholes.

Yeah, I think this is accurate.  I still see a few hold outs, but I see a lot of the people who jumped into the political arena because of Trumpism just sliding away from it, very quietly.

Maybe I'm naïve and overly optimistic.

it's hard to picture who else could step in ahead of time from our position.  try to remember what you thought in 2015 about trump.  absolute nobody doing a gimmick run for the lulz.

get the right bannon or whoever who can craft some Rorschach out of someone so everyone can write on them what they want to see as the slayer of whatever enemies they think they have.

my predictions of the person that could step into trump's shoes, and I would legitimately be afraid if bannon called him up today to start the process:

I think Trump's cult is uniquely tied to him.  If we've learned anything over the course of history, it's that cults tend to shrivel after the leader is dead or removed.

The biggest remaining threat is Trump running again.  Someone trying to be like Trump will never pull it off and get slaughtered.  Trump had a unique ability to stroke the egos of people who had been fed a plateful of myths about their shrinking status in the world and decided they had to flail about angrily or die.  I don't see it in his kids, and I don't see it in his sycophants.

https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/reports-gaetz-caught-on-surveillance-vid-with-alleged-sex-trafficker

Quote

CNN reported overnight that an employee at the tax collector’s office once saw Greenberg and Gaetz on an internal surveillance video, looking through driver licenses on a weekend evening.

The Daily Beast and The Orlando Sentinel, meanwhile, reported that surveillance camera footage showed Greenberg and another man in the Lake Mary branch of the tax collector’s office at night.

An employee at that office reportedly arrived on Monday morning to find driver licenses scattered on the desk, instead of in a disposal basket. She told her boss, who asked Greenberg what had happened in a text message. The text, which the Daily Beast said was dated April 16, 2018, was shared with federal investigators last January, the outlets reported.

“Did you happen to visit the Lake Mary Office on the weekend?” the message read, according to the Daily Beast.

“Yes I was showing congressman Gaetz what our operation looked like,” Greenberg reportedly replied. “Did I leave something on?”

It’s unclear if federal investigators have access to that surveillance footage —  Seminole County officials told the Daily Beast and the Orlando Sentinel that surveillance video is deleted after 60 days.

But the reported nighttime rummaging through seemingly discarded ID cards fits with existing allegations against Greenberg.

With every accusation being a confession, this motherfucker is so deep into this that I half expect we're going to find out in the next few days that the reason his head is so goddamn big is because he's been drinking these girls' adrenochrome.

So maybe I'm missing it, but the ID that Greenberg had made urgently made for Gaetz  -- did they alter a birthday or something?  I understand that Greenberg is a corrupt piece of shit, but this action (Gaetz using his privilege to get an ID made on a weekend) by itself doesn't seem criminal.  Is there something else to make it fraudulent?

Exactly. People rightly observed that Trump is an ignoramus. But they often underestimated his instincts for con artistry. He is an idiot savant of hucksterism.

His shit didn’t work on smart people (except the arrogant politicians and businessmen who thought they could beat him because they were smarter than him), but it didn’t have to. He aimed at the rubes and there are enough of them in the US to elect a pandering con artist to the highest office.

The problem is that those rubes are still there.  There are many millions of them and they are much more likely to be conned by a new con man than to admit that they were conned in the first place.

I've seen some intelligent people that bought into Trump.

The thing is, they were usually yellow dog Republicans before, so I couldn't tell if it was just "go team, go" or if they were true believers.

The people I know that really, really love him are universally uninformed and mostly lower intelligence.  I've met some big Trump fans that I surmise are intelligent people based on the level of success they've achieved, but they've chosen to just buy in completely to a manufactured line of bullshit in terms of understanding the world at large.

This.  Thinking that Trumpism is defeated is exactly how it comes back to beat our ass for good.  See the history of fascist movements last century.  They almost all followed that exact arc.

I'll rest easy when the last Trumpist is dead and buried (so, never).  Because....

The troops are all still there, fully committed, waiting for the next command/excuse.  Wish they will go away all you want -- they aren't.  At best, some will go dormant for a spell.

Imagine being a young girl in South Florida, seeing those three douchebags, and coming to the likely (and correct) conclusion that the older guy with the Nixon back tattoo visible through his white linen shirt is the least rapey of the three guys.
