She’s a straight up grifter like he is. Plus she’s much better looking. No surprise she got the nod. It’ll be fun to see how the Republican senators assess the 25k quid pro quo.

I would argue that she's worse, because she's actually an experienced prosecutor.  Evil as she undoubtedly is, she might actually accomplish something. Gaetz, like a young Anthony Soprano playing center field, would miss the fly ball because he was thinking about cooze.   Gaetz never had the makings of a varsity AG.

Gaetz has like one year (maybe) of experience being an attorney — as shitty a human as he is, can’t imagine he’d have been very effectual as AG. Probably would’ve done more illegal shit.

Lulz. Maybe he did the math on people who work for DJT and concluded that he'd be in the waste bin and out of a career as a political grifter in short order if he gave up his elected position to take an AG appointment.

I hope that SOB sits back and wonders why he didn’t get rid of Trump when he had the chance.  Then I hope he decides to spend the next 2 years getting in Trump’s way.

Isn't he retiring?

The report must be really, really, really, really bad.

Dammit, you beat me to it! May Moscow Mitch rot in hell for not taking care of the GOP's "Trump Problem" back in 2021 -- and a whole lot of other shit before that.

Yeah, he can spend the rest of his miserable life thwarting Trump and it won't even begin to make up for his role in this shitshow.

His term runs through Jan 2027.  If he can fuck with Trump through the mid-terms he would be doing us all a solid.  Although he should have just gotten rid of Trump at one of TWO impeachment chances he had in front of him.

"I was charged with nothing: FULLY EXONERATED. Not even a campaign finance violation. And the people investigating me hated me," Gaetz's post said in part. "Then, the very "witnesses" DOJ deemed not-credible were assembled by House Ethics to repeat their claims absent any cross-examination or challenge from me or my attorneys. I've had no chance to ever confront any accusers. I've never been charged. I've never been sued."

"Instead, House Ethics will reportedly post a report online that I have no opportunity to debate or rebut as a former member of the body," Gaetz said in his post. "In my single days, I often sent funds to women I dated - even some I never dated but who asked. I dated several of these women for years. I NEVER had sexual contact with someone under 18. Any claim that I have would be destroyed in court - which is why no such claim was ever made in court.

"My 30's were an era of working very hard - and playing hard too.

"It's embarrassing, though not criminal, that I probably partied, womanized, drank and smoked more than I should have earlier in life. I live a different life now.

CBS news: Matt Gaetz ethics report says his drug use and sex with a minor violated state laws

Quote

The report gives fresh voice to allegations of misconduct that have circulated around Gaetz for years, in spite of his firm denials. It draws on testimony from witnesses who told the committee they were paid to have sex with Gaetz, text messages discussing the transactions, and Venmo and PayPal receipts.

Among the report's most lurid findings were the allegations of sex- and drug-fueled parties and travel, including a 2018 trip to the Bahamas where witnesses say he took ecstasy and had sex with four women.

"From 2017 to 2020, Representative Gaetz made tens of thousands of dollars in payments to women that the Committee determined were likely in connection with sexual activity and/or drug use," noted the report, which lists payments totaling more than $90,000 to 12 different women.

The committee said it also received testimony that at a 2017 party, Gaetz twice had sex with "Victim A," who was 17 years old at the time and had just completed her junior year in high school.

"Victim A recalled receiving $400 in cash from Representative Gaetz that evening, which she understood to be payment for sex," the committee wrote. "Victim A said that she did not inform Representative Gaetz that she was under 18 at the time, nor did he ask her age."

So, he is in jail now?

Idk, it's state crimes he's being accused of violating. So you'll have to ask Florida why not done.

Whelp maybe we won’t be seeing Senator or Florida Governor Gaetz after all …tho I have been in FL for the last few days and based of general observations he might still be fairly electable here…

"The Committee determined there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress"

I mean, it's no wonder trump wanted him for AG with a resume like that

Is statutory rape so prevalent in the House that it needs to be specifically mentioned in the thou shall no do rules?  I mean, I can understand the prostitution prohibition to prevent Boebert from relapsing, but statutory rape?

Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida exist.
