Quote

But what distinguishes this woman, Megan Zalonka, is that she turned her relationship with Greenberg into a taxpayer-funded no-show job that earned her an estimated $7,000 to $17,500, according to three sources and corresponding government records obtained by The Daily Beast.

Quote

On Oct. 26, 2019, Gaetz attended the “Trump Defender Gala” fundraiser as the featured speaker at the Westgate Lake Resort in Orlando. Two witnesses present recalled friends reconvening at Gaetz’s hotel room for an after-party, where Zalonka prepared lines of cocaine on the bathroom counter. One of those witnesses distinctly remembers Zalonka pulling the drugs out of her makeup bag, rolling a bill of cash, and joining Gaetz in snorting the cocaine.

While The Daily Beast could not confirm that Gaetz and Zalonka had sex that night, two sources said the pair had an ongoing financial relationship in exchange for sex. "She was just one of the many pieces of arm candy he had,” said one source familiar with the encounters between Gaetz and Zalonka.

Quote

The congressman—who has declared that he “never paid for sex”—wrote off the stay at the hotel as a campaign expense, with his donors picking up the tab.

The U.S. Secret Service, which initiated the Greenberg investigation over allegations that Greenberg used county resources to mine Bitcoin, would not comment on the ongoing probe. Federal prosecutors with the Middle District of Florida would not say if investigators have questioned Zalonka. Greenberg’s attorney declined comment, citing attorney-client privilege.

Quote

Gaetz’s office did not respond to a request for comment. However, his hired public relations firm, Logan Circle Group, did issue this statement: “Congressman Gaetz won’t be commenting on whether he dated or didn’t date specific women. The privacy of women living private lives should be protected.” Harlan Hill, the president of that firm, did not address questions about cocaine, the party, or the fundraiser.

Secret Service getting up in their shit, LOL

No dead or underage girl?

At this point, a dead AND underage girl wouldn't move the needle.

Quit hoping for justice.  It ain't coming.  It never was.

The sex-for-pay and coke angles won't stick to Butthead.  The underage girl angle might.  Doubtful.

I have a feeling his buddy has plenty of evidence (outside of the payments) and/or there are going to be photos/video.

It will be enjoyable watching Matt try to defend this stuff, since he's the type to typically try to get ahead/own his scandals.

Why some of y'all are addicted to gloom mystifies me. Justice, of course, would be his head on a pike on the national mall, and that ain't happening. But he's going to jail for some of this stuff; he isn't the first, and won't be the last. He's not as clever as Dan Rostenkowski, though, so I just don't get why y'all think he'll walk. Smarter crooks than Gaetz have been taken down plenty of times, with less evidence and fewer enemies.

This.  Gaetz's buddy rolled has rolled on him to get a reduced sentence - he doesn't get that unless he provides some really good info on Gaetz and the others.

The fact that Gaetz tried to defend himself with the "I don't pay for sex" angle and "I am not commenting because of the privacy of the young women" is telling.  Not "I NEVER HAD SEX WITH THESE WOMEN".

If these fucking idiots are publicly doing Venmo shit like "tuition" and "food", they are dumb as fuck, and the evidence we've seen is nothing compared to what the feds have.

Yeah, the Eeyore chorus needs to leave this one alone. Dude is radioactive and going down hard. He'll probably get "saved" and make a comeback when the hookers and blow run out but he is done as a politician. No, we won't have his head on a pike, but this idea that he will just push through this is stupid.

It's the Venmo transactions and the "I don't pay for sex" comments that have me thinking he will go down.  Because, as I said, if they were dumb enough to publicly Venmo payments, then who knows what the feds have from going through his buddies phones.

Out of kindness, I suppose

If he were halfway as cool as Pancho, I wouldn't be having nearly as much fun watching him twist.

Oh, great, another "damning story" as Gaetz goes on w/ his merry little life.

Not one goddamned thing of consequence will come of this.

Yeah, that would be my guess as well.

Zalonka also features prominently in a tranche of Greenberg’s Venmo transactions, which include his payments to more than 40 women. Those women received hundreds of dollars at a time for memo items such as “salad,” “lemons,” and “ass,” according to financial records. The Daily Beast spoke to 12 of those women, who all said the payments were at least in part because Greenberg intended to have sex with them.

^^^ salad, lemons, and ass.

Well, to be fair...the expression used to be "tossin' salad."  I find the lemon twist to add a zesty, and refreshing addition.  /sergevoice

This.

My guess is there is so much to investigate they feds are taking a while to run down their leads and flip everyone leading to the biggest fish.  Cooking a banquet for 300 people take more time than making one omelet.

lemons?  wtf?

Lemons are one of those things I never let myself run out of. I always have to have on hand onions, lemons, limes, garlic, and olive oil. With those, you can make a meal out of damn near anything else you have on hand.

Oh, also, underage escorts. I make sure I never run out of those, either. That’s important.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen?

What always happens in this timeline: nothing. These stories end not with a bang, but with a whimper.

We do have a Texas AG who has managed to avoid going to court on a fairly obvious open and shut case...a literal criminal running our State's attorney general's office

forgive us for being jaded...

Which is why it's a good thing that Hot Wheels is not ultimately in charge of the Gaetz investigation.

Paxton's worry isn't the criminal charges.  It's being primaried by George P. next year.  And if he's out of office, the people he failed to properly launder money for are going to come for him.  At which point, he'll yearn for prison.

Cmon man. Don’t you do criminal law? With all the shit they charged Greenberg with and all the evidence they have against him you really think the feds are giving him a sweet heart deal and not going after Gaetz? I mean the plea agreement itself basically says what’s gonna happpen next.

And the reason nothing has happened to Paxton is he’s the Texas AG and Texas republicans are corrupt as shit. Apples to oranges.

Who will help poor Matt?  Options are:

  • Merrick Garland, AG (jenniferyeahOK.gif)
  • Head of the FBI under Biden (yeah, uh huh)
  • deSantis (oopsy, he's not a Fed)
  • McCarthy - (not much he can do)

Nothing really happened to the crooks during the Trump administration because the trump administration was corrupt to the core and trump just pardoned anyone who got convicted.

Donald trump can’t pardon anyone anymore sitting on his fat ass in Florida and can’t replace or fire federal prosecutors anymore since bill barf isn’t the AG anymore.

Some of y’all are seriously underestimating how much the game has changed. Hell dipshit trump knew the importance of holding on to the power of the presidency which is why he enlisted his mob to try to kill mike pence in the first place.

Not go to prison. He might pay a fine, go to sex addict rehab, do some community service and run 100 stadiums at Ben Hill Griffin. That will be about it.

You speak as if the Justice Department is all of a sudden going to act with haste and do something in the next decade. Again, adorable.

I do think the Biden WH and Garland DOJ can be expected to be a little more interested in the actual law.  Problem is, cases like this seem to go away with minimal penalty even when the state isn't helmed by criminals.
