I've seen some intelligent people that bought into Trump.

The thing is, they were usually yellow dog Republicans before, so I couldn't tell if it was just "go team, go" or if they were true believers.

The people I know that really, really love him are universally uninformed and mostly lower intelligence.  I've met some big Trump fans that I surmise are intelligent people based on the level of success they've achieved, but they've chosen to just buy in completely to a manufactured line of bullshit in terms of understanding the world at large.

They may be book smart.  They sure as fuck are not intelligent.  I know that might be mincing words but those words are important - to me damn it.

Y'all stop it with the PTSD Eeyore ledge talk. Gaetz is walking the plank, getting tarred and feathered, and run out of town on a rail. Trump's out of power. The head of the snake has been lopped off, and this Gaetz shit is the rest of the serpent writhing around mindlessly. The GQP won't be finding another Trump anytime soon, and the man himself will probably be dead, imprisoned, barred from running, or non compos mentis by 2024. This movement has peaked. It will be a pain in the ass for some time to come, but many are dying off daily and some of the others are losing their fervor.

I will still seek out pulp magazine stories involving secret Trumpist cells in Argentina.

This.  Thinking that Trumpism is defeated is exactly how it comes back to beat our ass for good.  See the history of fascist movements last century.  They almost all followed that exact arc.

I'll rest easy when the last Trumpist is dead and buried (so, never).  Because....

....this.

The troops are all still there, fully committed, waiting for the next command/excuse.  Wish they will go away all you want -- they aren't.  At best, some will go dormant for a spell.

Scott Pressler and the others are flying around the country getting people signed up to run for office, holding meetings from coast to coast. Sure, pay them no mind. But it starts local and with the voting laws changing, getting them signed up and going for everything from school boards on up, pretty soon you have a thousand little knives poised to attack. Or fifty more Greenburgs and Gaetzs doing whatever they can for $$ and power.

He is one of the more visible ones, but he is not the only one. So, as long as people like Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, the Freedom Caucus, and others are out there acting like January 6th was no big deal, or still believe the Big Lie that something wasn't quite right, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Oh, definitely this.  But never, ever forget this -- his vote, all 76 IQ points of it, counts EXACTLY the same amount as yours does.  I'm gonna guess your IQ is a fair bit north of 76.  Doesn't matter.  They don't have to be smart, they just have to outnumber us.

And they're dangerous as fucking hell in that capacity -- see the quoted post below.

They've gotten a taste for batshit populist insurgency, and as they are wont to do at any nearby Golden Corral, they are going to gorge on the shit they got a taste for.

It's the new era of America.  Except to be disappointed, and you'll never be disappointed.

I do think Greenberg is singing like a canary.  Guys like that will take down as many people with them as they can.

And guys like Greenberg have insurance.  You know he has incriminating stuff on other people.

Stupid people will always outnumber smart people. You doomsdayers forget they are fairly evenly distributed across party lines. I’m not going to even bother linking you the polls showing continued evaporation of the Republican base.

Numbers matter.

So does motivation.

"Empowered stupidity" may be the perfect catch phrase for this new era.

If 90% of the 40% StupidsX show up, and only 60% of the 40% StupidsY show up....bet on StupidsX.

StupidsX remain a threat even at 40%.  Sleep on them, and you wake up....well, stuck in bed with StupidsX.  And they ain't pretty.

She's young looking but apparently graduated from UCF in 2018.

This guy is the worst. He's another narcissist that doesn't want to give up the attention he got in 2016. Listening to him speak is like nails on a chalk board.

Wouldn’t an innocent person write that they have zero reason to resign?

Fox News has this up on their front page, albeit it's not the top headline right now (thanks to the attack at the Capitol)

And it's getting airplay

Matty of course “cherishes” the relationships he has had with all his former “girlfriends.” He remembers all of those nights fondly. He especially cherishes the night he busted multiple nuts while flying high on X. Those were the nights.

I’m still celebrating Rush Limbaugh’s passing.

Cheers!

Listening to that brought me back to middle school with a friend awkwardly yelling something in the background while you call a girl.

Except, of course, that Gaetz and Your Favorite Tax Collector are undoubtedly smoking crack

That's what I believed about Cohen. Guess they've all been playing the long game because apparently a sitting president could've been a serial killer off the present rulings.  Now they've tried to defend stating a president post office can't be tried, which is fine if this were Bolivia but it's not and we're supposed to be tough on crime.  I dunno, maybe something will happen before there's another attempted coup at the capital.

I did some research on Eskamani.  Seems like a great state rep, heart really in the right place.

Why the fuck these two douchebags are calling her is 100% mystery.

Didn't you hear about the points game for sleeping with other politicians, double if they are married.

I think Trump's cult is uniquely tied to him.  If we've learned anything over the course of history, it's that cults tend to shrivel after the leader is dead or removed.

The biggest remaining threat is Trump running again.  Someone trying to be like Trump will never pull it off and get slaughtered.  Trump had a unique ability to stroke the egos of people who had been fed a plateful of myths about their shrinking status in the world and decided they had to flail about angrily or die.  I don't see it in his kids, and I don't see it in his sycophants.

yeah, Dotard is effectively done. Thank God.

But the country is still broken. I'm not giving up my spot on the ledge just yet.

Speaking as a woman who’s been on the receiving end of those kinds of calls/conversations/texts/emails/DMs/etc. It’s no mystery to me.

It’s the self-assessed invulnerability of a certain kind of toxic man. They pick the perceived “weakest of the ‘herd’” and make her the target of deniable on their face harassment and creepy behavior in order to make her afraid and hopefully malleable to future escalating attempts to get her in a position in which their can ramp up “locker room” talk into more aggressive overtures.

Those kinds of men take advantage of the social conditioning of women - we’re taught to be polite! Don’t make a scene! Don’t be aggressive! It could damage your career and future! Just humor them and deflect and de-escalate! And it will all be okay!

Until it becomes obvious what these men see instead of aloof politeness and friendly brush-offs is permission to continue.

Read her responses.

They saw an assumed “weak target” and decided to go after her.

It’s this, but possibly a lot of things. There’s also the two drunk frat pricks or or jocks type scenario where they think they’re going to basically treat her (the Democrat/outcast) like Carrie. Or as someone else mentioned Gaetz and his dildo of a friend had her on a bingo card. There’s half a dozen ways these pricks had zero good intent here.
