Told this yarn on Shaggy.

There used to be an old filing station at Sage & Woodway that has long been swallowed up by St. Martin's.

When it was operating I'd fill my truck with diesel there quite often.  One day I was pumping fuel and a white Mercedes station wagon pulled in and Barbara Bush, her own self, got out (no Secret Service escort or anyone in the vehicle with her), slid her credit card into the reader, snatched up the diesel handle and started pumping her own fuel.

I tried to play it cool and just gave her a nod.  She looked at me and said "I wish my husband George could do something about the damn high fuel prices."

This smiled and like that... she were gone.

I saw her waiting in a long line at customer service to return something at the Target on San Felipe a few years ago.  She had her detail with her.

Former President George H.W. Bush, who just buried his wife first lady Barbara Bush on Saturday, is in intensive care, CNN has learned.

"President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant," spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement.

Bush was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning, he was suffering from an infection that led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening, according to a source close to the former President. He was in critical condition, the source said.

Probably deserves it’s own thread.

Thread police can STFU.

I predicted that he’d make it a week without her. I might have nailed it.

I’m not sure how an infection or sepsis is caused by a broken heart.  And I agree that the will to live is important but even wanting to die won’t cause sepsis.

I agree with you that this really isn't due to "death effects".  But, it's been shown that depression can affect the body's immune system, and thereby allow less resistance to stuff that can make you sick or even kill you.
