Illegals.  It has been bad the last year.  Worse than we have ever seen.  It's no joke when you're walking around in the dark alone.  My buddy's ranch in La Pryor he had 5 different groups on his game camera one night a couple weeks ago.  You fly a ranch now and you see sign everywhere.  Be a smartass all you want, but it is a problem.

I saw a good clip on reddit from someone from Tasmanian parliament that made some solid points re the notion that having a vaccine mandate means you are being discriminatory to anti-vaxxers.

I try to convince folks with data ... for example, I show them the results in places like New York and how cases dropped precipitously after the vaccine mandate was imposed in mid-December (in NYC, which is 70% of the state population). Same with masks ... people can see the data clearly between mask and no-mask mandates. But unfortunately there are a lot of folks that will not change their minds no matter what the data shows.

Thanks for posting this great story of yours in the Covid stats only thread. I wonder why you did that? Hmm...

My bad. Someone stated that anti-vaxers should die and are dying as the population growth in the US is the lowest it has been at 0.1% for the year. I stated that I doubted it was that low based on what I saw in South Texas. Illegal immigration isn't counted in the census numbers but obviously does count towards the true population growth in the US.

What math am I showing you in an answer to the question of what would hypothetically force people who have refused to take it for a year to now take it?

You said there was a 50+% kill rate on the unvaxxed.   That’s blatantly false.  I asked to see that math.

In addition, your retort is absolutely reprehensible English.

You should start a thread on this in the CR and see how it goes.

Not to mention that legal immigration was curbed for 18 months due to Covid, so another point of natural population growth was stunted.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Question from Bravo (which I quoted in my post but I will go ahead and bold the key part for you) -  How do you force people who haven't taken the vax for a yr now? I'd think short of doing something completely outside the constitution that isn't going to happen.

My answer which is obviously somewhat dark - Mutation with 50+% unvaxxed kill rate while vaxved kill rate remains close to 0.

Here's a tip....read the fucking post, or comprehend or do something.  Or do you just come in here looking to play "gotcha" and read what I said so fast you thought I was trying to say 50% of people currently unvaxxed are dying?  Fun game eh?

I always think of the George Carlin quote (and I am paraphrasing)

"Think of how dumb the avg person is and remember half of them are dumber than that"

Basically sums it up for me. We are faced with a wall of idiots that just won't believe the data yet they will eat fast food, heavily processed food, drink city water filled with chemicals, take other vaccines etc etc etc

Kind of like a group of vegans wearing leather boots, a lot of hypocrisy/inconsistency in the folks arguing against the vaccine.

Quit showing your ass. You have zero idea how insurance works. You are somehow trying to conflate constitutional law with insurance and doing a very poor job at it. Insurance companies mitigate risk. How do you feel about tobacco surcharges on insurance?

He has zero idea how the constitution works either apparently.  It isn’t a list of what people are allowed to do.

You have no idea how insurance works, I see. Insurance is built around the fact it purposely denies coverage to at-risk customers.

If that bothers you, I take it you are for universal healthcare which is wonderful news as I am too and America should adopt it ASAP. Win, win.

The list of things Bravo knows nothing about is very long indeed.

Really? My wife worked for Aetna for 9 years (actuary). The proposal dumbass I was responding to was have the govt tell insurance to not cover them. That is not what I was responding to. It wasnt increase premiums or deny coverage. It was have govt tell insurance companies to deny coverage, Move along and keep up.

You responded to my post. I never said the government should force insurance companies to drop unvaxxed idiots, they should do it to their own.

The government however can and should do it for gov-owned Medicare and Medicaid customers.

I dunno, it kinda reminds me of "Swingers" when Sue declares himself the authority on risk assessment because he grew up in L.A.  And they all remind him, "Anaheim, dude."  And he screams back, "Whatever.  You don't know what it's like there!"

"I know things about insurance risk, okay!  My wife led Aetna for decades!"

"She worked at the dental hotline during re-enrollment season."

"Whatever man!  I kept our rep!"

You’re evidently mocking this person, but she is a perfect example. No matter what you do Covid is hard to avoid. In that case the most important thing is to get vaccinated. She’s very unlikely to be hospitalized despite her obvious risk factors. Good for her.

Obvious risk factors?  Seriously?  If I had obvious risk factors, New York would not have made me wait until May to get my vaccine.  And obviously, my breakthrough case of COVID (of the Omicron variety) was not serious at all.  I am already recovered.

And yeah, that was a troll that posted that.  Either a long time poster who decided to create a new account a few hours before just to post that (my money is on Johnny Sack of Shit) or a previously crowdsourced poster.  Either way, I do not need you to come to my defense, thanks.

New York city is about half the population of New York State.  Most the rises in NYS before Omicron were upstate and in the burbs, and that is because NYC's adult population is 80% fully vaxxed (total population about 72% fully vaxxed) with quite a number of folks having gotten their boosters.  After Omicron, NYC is taking the lead.

Yeah, he lost me there.  It got us way off track, but since it has to do with Covid...I am wildly intrigued by his new notion that insurance companies can't change/drop coverages for people based on their life choices because it violates the U.S. Constitution somehow.  I mean, that changes literally everything.

More unconstitutional than requiring certain vaccinations to attend public school?

Jesus tap-dancing Christ. The level of constitutional wisdom being thrown around in this thread is mind blowing. If I don’t like a law I’m just going to start saying it’s unconstitutional.

It has never been the most informative Covid thread.  It's been a refuge for morons and conspiracy theorists.

I found the daily stats to be very informative, and they allowed me to ignore the shit posts.  Since all we get now are the never-ending shit posts, it's intolerable.  I still check it out of habit, but I need to kick that.

No, it is pretty well established as constitutional. The federal government is going to have some more limits on it, but state governments shouldn't have an issue absent some provision in their specific constitutions.

Have you ever read the Constitution? Do you know what it is and what it is does? Because your post suggests that you do not.

Hint: it does not dictate what private entities or individual persons can or can't do.

First Amendment: freedom of association

Fifth Amendment (as extended by the Fourteenth Amendment): "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."  See Cedar Point Nursery v. Hassid, 141 S.Ct. 2063 (2021) (holding that requiring a property owner to allow people onto its property constitutes a taking for which just compensation is due).

Actually, based on Cedar Point Nursery, the better question is whether Abbott's executive order barring businesses from excluding unvaccinated customers is an unconstitutional taking without just compensation.

Texas data/stats only post:

I put together the following three maps based off the total number of confirmed cases and deaths listed here by the Texas Tribune and weighted counties according to their 2020 Census Count populations. Green=Good, Red=Bad, Light Yellow=Texas as whole

I've seen various iterations of the first map but not of the second two, the first of which shows the overall severity of this virus through deaths on the local population and the other the severity of the virus for individuals (likely due to age, comorbidities, and access to healthcare) by local area. If you want numbers for a specific county, I'm happy to share.
