Those numbers are narrowing from before then- right?  At one point in time we were over 99% of deaths from unvax v vax, right?  Now we are at 91/9?  Is that because more vax are dying with delta or just b/c there are more people getting shots so fewer unvaxed people to get it?

My best friends MIL just died.  She was relatively young (like early 60's). Such a waste. I will never understand grown up people not getting the vaccine.

The "more likely to" numbers won't necessarily change. But yes, the "99% of deaths are unvaccinated" will absolutely change as the vaccination rate changes.

That, I generally agree with.  That said, if you end up in the  hospital for something else, but you pop COVID positive, they have to isolate and treat you as any other infectious COVID patient.  So, the hospital has to burn the room and follow the burdensome COVID practices, so from their administrative perspective, maybe it's not a meaningful difference.

But from an epidemiology, vaccine-effectiveness perspective, it sure as shit matters.  How many people got sick enough from COVID that they had to go to the hospital?  That's the valuable number.

All I know is that when I go in for my third penis-reduction surgery, and I happen to test positive for COVID but am asymptomatic or have minor symptoms, I shouldn't be counted as a COVID hospitalization.

Based on your starting condition, a third penis reduction surgery was technically a vaginoplasty.

It stands to reason that South Austin would have three penises.  A good mother always ensures that her children have it better than she did.

Handling three dicks, you can't even do sign language.

What was the old Hellen Keller joke?  Why does she only use one hand to masturbate?  She needs the other one to moan.  God bless the 80's, a simpler time.

Silliness aside, thanks to BrazilHorn for some modicum of encouraging data.  Our ISD repealed all mitigation efforts starting tomorrow, I pray that 1-9 bracket remains on the downward trend...or at least doesn't get any worse.

Just confirmed that my wife caught the 'rona.  Moderna fully vaxxed since March.  I think she caught it at a volleyball tournament on Saturday. While we were masked, about 50% of the people there were not.

Yeah.  She caught it at a volleyball tourney.  Not in some other, umm, "close contact" with a third party.

I hope you at least spared her your fried gizzard farts.  I can't imagine how awful those must smell under the covers.

Fried gizzards and beer.  And Applebees from the night before, in a fit of self-loathing.  Don't forget the other essential ingredients.  It was magical.

My mom's been having issues with her balance and has fallen 3 times in a 2 day period. She's 77 and has a neck brace she has to wear for the rest of her life because of a fall that caused a fracture in her neck. We needed to take her to the ER of the hospital that's associated with her neurologist and where he has residency. She has a shunt he implanted in her to help with balance. It probably needs to be adjusted but we needed to get her fully checked out to make sure nothing happened with the falls and also if maybe she had a stroke or something else. She also has had a chest infection for a few weeks that's not getting better. All of these things necessitated a trip to the hospital.

My brother took her in on Wednesday morning after I spoke with the neurologist's office who coordinated for her information and medical history to be relayed to the ER staff. She has been in the same exam room in the ER since Wednesday morning because there are no beds for them to move her to. She does not need an ICU bed, she just needs a room so they can treat her and evaluated things like her balance and how she walks. When I was there earlier today, the number of people waiting for a room was 20. When I just spoke with the night nurse a little while ago, it was now 37 people needing a room. The nurse said they've had to shutdown entire wings of the hospital because of their staffing problems. Now this has got to be because of the staff either quitting because they're burned out or they've been moved to help with all the Covidiots that are overwhelming their resources. Either way, it is not an ideal time to have to go to a hospital in Dallas. I also have to worry about her catching Covid while there. It's hard not to hate the people who choose to not get the vaccine and are rolling the dice.

Prayers @mdmost  🙏🙏🙏
