Tommy  Tuberville thinks that the 3 branches of the US government are the House, the Senate and the Executive branches and also thinks that WWII was fought to free Europe from socialism (not fascism), so when he claims that some part of the American education system is inferior perhaps we should take him as evidence that he knows of what he speaks.

my son just spent a few years in flight school at the Army Aviation school at Fort Rucker, AL. I visited several times.  Moving it would be a huge, expensive undertaking.   It won't happen. You know it, I know it, and...well, Tubberville may be too stupid to know it, so maybe you're on to something.

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Seems to me pretty much any Marine, enlisted and officer alike, would be justified in eliminating the threat.  Maybe I do not fully understand the oath.  Maybe I just don't read so good...

Tuberville is a gotdam disgrace.

Haha! What would it cost, like, 0.1% of the military's annual allotted budget?  Maybe build a really nice one for 0.2%?

start the process and make him blink. There has to be units that can be moved out asap

  • The Biden administration announced Monday that Alabama will get $1.4 billion in broadband funding.

  • Sen. Tommy Tuberville celebrated the news, calling the funding "crucial" for rural broadband.

  • But he voted against the 2021 infrastructure bill that established the program he's now

Cornyn did the same thing. Republicans and flies…

Nearly five months after Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville announced his hold on Department of Defense nominees, the tactic has become a major flashpoint within the US Senate as institutionalists inside the body are voicing concerns the hold could have long-term repercussions and are openly warning an overhaul of the nominations process could be needed.

Despite efforts from Republican colleagues, Tuberville’s been resolute, holding up the nomination of roughly 250 military nominees – many promotions that would typically be fast-tracked through the Senate. The dramatic impasse is forcing senators to openly question if it’s time for the body to consider changing the rules or at the very least limit the number of nominations that require Senate confirmation.

Maybe we need another gang to come up with a set of rules changes, but the vast majority of us who understand these tools should be used sparingly, I think we need to raise our voices,” Sen, Mark Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, said.

The angst is bipartisan as senators are grow wary of a further roadblocks in a Senate that is already doing very little legislating in divided government.

“Are we all gonna start taking hostages now?” Sen. Lisa Murkowski, a Republican from Alaska, said.

can Biden somehow get around this? what are the repercussions of this other than it blanketly weakens our self defense capabilities? god these people are the fucking worst

If a Democrat is running the country, the Republicans will do everything they can to weaken the country.  It's unfortunate, but Tuberville is making it loud and clear that this is the Republican way.

so how is that different from when they're in power and they do their best to weaken the country? is there a difference? I don't see one

In case you're like me and needed a refresher on why that jug eared fuck is putting our national defense at risk, here you go...

Quote

Tuberville first imposed the blocks in protest of the Defense Department’s new policy to pay travel costs for service members seeking abortion or other reproductive care. He claims that decision from late last year cuts against the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade, and vows to maintain the holds until Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin changes course or the senator gets a straightforward vote on the issue.

Yeah, it's a hat trick for that cunt: He gets to hold Democratic government hostage, he gets to take a pro-life stance, and he gets to casually dissuade women from joining the military, where he doesn't think they belong anyway.

Someone help me understand what "a straightforward vote on the issue" looks like? Because I can't imagine he actually wants one of those, and I can't imagine some R's won't vote against his bullshit.

I got news for Tommy Boy.  The military pays travel expenses for medical care for all kinds of shit.  If you need specialty care that you can't get where you're stationed they will pay for the travel and the care.  At least that's the way it was when I was in.  All the ruling said was that abortion law is up to the states.  Didn't say anything about folks going where they want to.  Dumb fuck.

I mean, that's specifically what he's protesting. That they can get the care period.

The argument that you can’t travel to get certain healthcare is a damn shitty argument for civilians.

but somehow it’s even shittier for military personnel that are told by the government where they will live.

what a piece of shit person he continually demonstrates himself to be.

The Republicans are not a serious political party.

I'm constantly reminded of PJ O'Rourke's famous quip: "The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."

Biden should just “promote” all of these military personnel as acting. Let tuberville sue the administration and military. If congress fails to perform their advise and consent role, then they are abdicating that power.

Tubs is circumventing this by withholding unanimous consent and telling his Senate colleagues that they can waste floor time by bringing each nomination individually for a vote. What really needs to happen is to change the Senate’s antiquated procedures for an era where there is no such thing as collegiality and the common interest.
