These fucking idiots just don't want to believe that they looked like total shit at LB this year while we just developed a low 3* to one of the best in the nation and not to mention Overshown was better than anything they rolled out this year as well.

And what attractive DL?  Sure, it looked good on recruiting sites until they're getting pushed around to 200+ rushing yards a game.

Howell knows it's going to be Texas next week, he just doesn't want to flat out say it to delay the meltdown another week.

And let's not forget he did make 3rd team AP All-American, FWIW.

That's quite the home that comes with its own Stargate.  I mean, WTF, who built their house, Forever Legacy?

You know recruiting is in the shitter when 5 coaches show up at 1 recruits house. Hopefully one of them took a Warehime type shit in the master bath.

There’s a nonzero possibility that they were trying to keep Petrino warm as a candidate and he said no thanks.

They had very little leverage to begin with in negotiating this OC contract, but when you’re the last guy standing you’re pretty much going to be able to name your price. Riley at $6m for 3 years is normal aggy overspending, but that contract for some lame duck  retread is going to be hilarious.

Riley would be a dumbfuck if he went there for anything less than double whatever the highest paid OC currently makes.

I had to look up Derek Dooley. Why would he be a bad hire? Looks like he's done some good work along with a few failures.

Is it that he would be so far down anyone's list?

He has like 2 years of experience as a playcaller and Missouri's offense regressed big time with him as the playcaller.

His offense meshes well with Jimbo's, in all the ways aggy should be looking to get away from.

IDK if really anything to it, but some posters on texags are throwing Derek Dooley's name out as an OC option.

Can't remember if it has been talked about here, but the rumor de jour has been Andy Ludwig, the Utah OC

Dooley is the perfect hire because it's a name people know and he's so bad that Jimbo will be able to take play calling duties back.

His last name is the only reason he isn't selling insurance.

No, but he should use the opportunity to at least get a raise from Utah

Right, and my hope is that is exactly what is happening. I would expect any agent worth their salt would be floating interest in aggy to secure their client greater compensation.

At the same time, I can't imagine any P5 OC with even a modicum of success at their current school would actually take the position.

That would be a very good get.

They were 18th in offensive EPA/play, which is good. Not sure how much of that you chalk up to this guy, or how much is the Utah football institution that's been built up over the past decade or two where most OCs have had some various level of positive success

That target list is a group of kids that just want to get paid as much as they can next year. They might get all of them due to desperation. Most of those kids have likely cut deals with several teams this year. I’m guessing most teams are willing to cut ties at this point.

So they expect a visit from: Platt, a 4 star TE that they're trying to pick off from Stanford's turmoil; Tony Mitchell, a highly safety that they're recruiting as a CB, currently committed to Bama and seriously interested in Auburn as well; Caden Jones, a 3 star OT from Louisiana that is also considering UH and Florida; and Marcel Reed, a low 4 star QB whose ranking is driven by the sloth of Rivals.

I would be impressed if they landed Mitchell. That would be a heaping bag of cash and would cause Saban to lose his shit. The other three guys are filler for the roster. The problem with taking filler is that eventually you might have to play it.

It really looks like they're going to close this signing period with no WRs and no QB. Maybe they land Platt to include a TE. Looking like a class of 13-15 with risk on losing several important commits.

Bertrand is talking to other teams, Hicks' recruitment was called "shaky" this week by On3 analysts, and the CBs have been talking seriously to other teams. Going to be some overpaying going with this group for sure. Should be fun.

Didn't they just offer a WR who no one had previously heard of, wo which Peroni said something like "well you have to fill out the roster somehow" in response

Accurate, tough QB who is a good runner.  They have two tight ends who are matchup nightmares.  Pretty good offensive line.  I liked his playcalling against USC for the most part.  He was like, they can't cover these TEs so we will just keep throwing it to them.  What a concept.  USCs defense is pretty bad, though.

Using the Googles it seems that Andy Ludwig is from Utah, first coached with Whittingham in 92, and spent the previous 2 decades climbing the P5 ranks to varying degrees of success.

A&M can and will make him say no to a lot of money but he seems like a guy who is at home, on the back side of his career, and coaching with a friend

agreed, making $1.25M already and likely in HC drivers seat when Whittingham retires

Ludwig is ok but anything but innovative
