I watched the base camp episode.  Supposed to be the coldest location ever and lots of grizzlies.  This group seems like they may make it more interesting and not play the starving game.  The arctic season was so good, so maybe we'll get something similar.

Almost through ep 1.  I took a break to post on here about how annoying Creek chick is.  I read your post and... 30 seconds later.  Wow.  What a way to go.

Speaking of your post, I did something sort of similar.   I got really drunk one night while in college   Decided to walk home - 20 miles.  Yes, I was really drunk.  I climbed up a hill to take a piss in peace.  On the way down I fell, and my hand landed on a metal spike.  Went straight through and out the back.  Good times.

Ho lee fuk, that first tap was amazing.

I’m fairly certain a drunk Surlster couldn’t have done that.

Also, the dude losing his line & hooks because a random branch snagged his backpack zipper just enough is rather questionable. Maybe pack the small stuff in the middle, bro.

Like the guy who lost his arrows last season. I wouldn’t rest until I found them.

I always thought shooting a beaver in the water was a bad kill.  Isn't it likely that the animal will dive into its den?

Also, curious if anyone knows about the liability this show has to provide.  I'm sure there are a multitude of waivers to sign; however, would that carry weight if, say, a dude gets mauled by a bear and dies before production can assist?  Can a show really say, "Sign this.  If you die, you die."?

Sweet fancy Moses... I just finished the first episode.

This season is shaping up to be really good.  All the contestants seem capable, and a few don't really have family to miss so they should be able to last a long time in isolation.

The guy from Labrador talking about wanting to move his family out of "fast paced" life in that tiny fishing village made me laugh.

He and I definitely have different opinions on fast paced living.

Tonight was a pretty damn good episode until they fucked it all up with that chick’s airtime.

Thank you!  I was wondering if I was the only one.  She was like Skylar on Breaking Bad.

I hope the moose guy isn’t the one medically removed from the game leaving a wasted 1000 lb moose behind. He seemed to want to kill it out of pride more than game strategery.

Hopefully, they will allow him to keep the head and cape for taxidermy purposes, even if he doesn't win.  Very impressive kill.

No doubt that was a hell of a job to take it down with those old timey bows. I hope he’s not the one extracted as he seems to be a rare person who is wired for that situation. He’s not entangled in relationships at home, he thrives on the isolation, and he was raised in what sounds like an off grid no electricity cultish home. I like his rendering and storage of moose fat; he knows that’s the key to survival in that environment. That cape and hide will be very warm in his shelter.

I guess he had to take advantage of that opportunity when it presented itself, but taking that moose while the temps were still in the 40s and 50s is really risky for all of that meat. Also glad that the chick is gone.

Watching these jabronis lose a fish to showboating will never cease to amaze.

They catch a fish that will give them a couple days protein and then quit. They need fat and they need to be catching and smoking a shitpile of fish a day.

Appears the way to bail
Honorably is simply quit shitting. “I haven’t shit in 38 days! I wonder if that’s an issue?”

Since YouTube lost a&e and its properties I watch it on Philo which is only $25 a month. I’m probably dropping YouTubers and living with an antenna, Philo, and all my apps.

So I watch all the history shows on Philo. There are commercials but it’s easy; hit FF then play and it skips the whole break.

That was a real bad idea because it was setup exactly like marten traps are.  They like running on polls towards bait.

Do these guys not watch Mountain Men?

Pretty strong looking final four, although we know that things can change in an instant.  I knew WV game warden had no shot.

I’m fine with that. I like this show best bingeing it. I just skip thru the entertainment parts. Don’t care about moose bass, or game show shit, or singing. It’s a better show when they can fish and hunt with some measure of success. Those are huge fish they’re dragging out of the river.

We used to catch tons of Northern Pike when we had our cabin in northern Minnesota.  Never ate a single one of them.  They have a weird bone structure that makes them tough to fillet.  Of course, I was never starving either.....

Well, I made it to the end. That was a lot of goddamn TV, even with the FF button.

Were you watching on the History Channel app?  10 mins of content, then 3 mins of ads.  At least I eventually had the option to watch 30 seconds ads by the final 2 episodes.

The guy that won wasn't even done.  I think he'd still be there if he didn't win.  I mean, who goes through that and immediately asks if there is going to be an All Star version he can return for?
