Going to assume we’re locked in as the 6 seed (4 back of Yankees for 5 seed).

Do we want A’s, Rays, or White Sox in wild card round?

1.5 games separate those three right now.

I’m indifferent but will go with the A’s. Perhaps we beat Fiers to send them home.

or they beat us and put us out of our misery in this shitshow of a season.

Minor concern, but A’s would also mean easier travel if the Astros manage to survive the first round.  If they were to miraculously make it to the World Series, they would go from Arlington to Oakland to LA to SD and back to Arlington.

So this a potential 5.5 week long road trip that just started.

Sweep the WC round and there are 4 days off before the LDS.

I don’t think they’re going to hangout in CA for that long

If George is willing to take a shorter contract, something like 3/$75mm,  then he could stay. If he’s looking for 6/7 years at $30+ million per, then cya.

With the expanded playoffs and financial uncertainty for many teams, I wouldn’t be that surprised if he accepted a QO.

Interesting thought but there is no way he won’t get an offer well in excess of the QO number. Don’t know this year’s number but last year’s was $17.8 million.

you generally have to pay more per year on a shorter deal

That might be the hardest Correa has hit the baseball since early August.

I don’t know what to make of the offensive struggles. Outside of Altuve, the problem has mainly been a lack of exit velocity, not a lack of plate discipline. Even Bregman looks like a slap hitter now. Maybe it’s just a product of the shortened season.

Good news: assuming we don’t go down to sat/sun still looking to clinch, the rotation will be set up for Grienke and then Framber in the WC round

bad news: Lance will be ready for game 3
