Norwich City won promotion today before their game started. When Swansea (Wycombe) and Brentford (Millwall) both drew their games, that ensured that Norwich will finish at least in the top 2. With a win today, they will be 2 points from clinching the Championship title too.

The rest of the promotion/playoff slots are still up for grabs, but there appears to be a pretty good separation going for the 2 and 3-6 slots:

1. Norwich City 90 pts, 5 games left
2. Watford 82/4

3. Swansea 76/4
4. Brentford 74/5
5. Bournemouth 71/5
6. Barnsley 71/5

7. Reading 67/4

Norwich now has a legit shot at qualifying for CL next year.

I wonder if they could get the guy from PSG.  He seems to be doing good things.

Did Poch just lose the locker room at Spurs or what? Or did he want out?

Leading up to the 2019-2020 season, Spurs were coming off 4 straight CL appearances - the last being the Final.

a bad start to regular season and sacked after 12 matches and 14th place? But was it really all that dire?

Mourinho comes on - wins his first 2 matches which put them back immediately to 5th place. Finished 6th place to end the season.

I don't know.  I don't follow Spurs closely or anything but based on his track record I thought the firing was premature at the time.  And hiring Mou was obviously never going to lead anywhere.

The reports from Spurs beat writers had said that Pochettino saying the same things for 5 years to the same players led to some of the locker room effectively tuning him out. Pochettino also admitted after his sacking that he was frustrated and burned out after the CL final loss.

I don't agree. It's studs up on the knee, that's pretty much text book red. Is it accidental? Sure, but it's still a red.
Yeah... looking again. The studs were definitely up. If it had been top of the boot, maybe not, but those studs to the knee could've been season ending.

Okay. I'll agree.

Foxes up 2-0 on West Brom before Big Sam has had time to finish his first pie.  I'm not the only one hoping that karma puts both them and West Ham in the CL next year, right?

i think 100% of fans who support teams not in the ESL are rooting for Leicester and West Ham to make Top4 .

Although I have an unhealthy hate for that ratface Vardy.

The moment they have to draw the lines, that should end the VAR check for offsides. If it’s that close, they should just stop.

I think the Dutch league has a margin of error in their system. The officials on field still signal for offsides if they see it (unlike England) and if it’s within the margin then the call on the field goes.

there has to be a change in the laws of the game.  it should be the position of the feet only outside of the "VAR Zone"... in my opinion offside should only go to var remotely when the call in question takes place inside an 18-yard arc centered on the penalty spot.  outside of this area, unless var can clearly isolate one of the attacker's feet as "ahead" of a defender's foot, there is no distinct advantage, as was the case just now when we wasted 30 seconds looking at richarlison's run that led to the goal.

here it is, the global debut of hagbard's VAR Zone:

outside of the penalty box and the 2nd arc, var should only be summoned automatically by the remote control center when one foot of the attacker is *CLEARLY* ahead of the foot of the defender

Too many words:

get rid of VAR

Well with that goal it sounds like Newcastle deserved the win and had to settle for the draw.

Eh, they would have parked all 11 plus the substitutes behind the ball if they'd leveled in the 92nd minute. Would have been a draw either way.

And the VAR call is intuitively and competitively complete garbage but that's the rule right now. The problem there wasn't VAR, it was the rule.

This. The inequality of handballs against the offense and defense is awful. They need to make them the same. Until they do, then we are going to see more of these all the time.
