Both ladies catholic, both with children.  Both would fire up evangelicals, but Florida!  I think it will be Lagoa.

Look forward to seeing Harris vs Logoa.  Wonder how strong Harris comes?  She promised to prosecute the case against Trump.  This is as close as she is going to get.  If Harris comes too hard, could backfire.  Lagoa only had 15 votes against her last time.  I think Harris did not vote because she was on campaign trail.  Not sure.  Both ladies FBI investigations should be updated.

Seven of 15 votes against Logoa cast by....women.  26 women in senate.  Over 25 % female senators voted against her.     No vote by Harris, Warren, klobuchar.   5 senators did not vote.  Counted 16 women voted yea.  Looks like 69.5% of women voted yea.  Far less than total %...84 % yea.

Expect a cat fight.... no doubt.

But you assume they are wrong, of course, and there's nothing to it.  You must be right.  In spite of your limited knowledge of the subject at hand.

Amy Coney Barrett on what to do when the law and the faith of a judge clash - https://scholarship.law.nd.edu/law_faculty_scholarship/527/

  Quote

The Catholic Church's opposition to the death penalty places Catholic judges in a moral and legal bind. While these judges are obliged by oath, professional commitment, and the demands of citizenship to enforce the death penalty, they are also obliged to adhere to their church's teaching on moral matters.

Although the legal system has a solution for this dilemma by allowing the recusal of judges whose convictions keep them from doing their job, Catholic judges will want to sit whenever possible without acting immorally. However, litigants and the general public are entitled to impartial justice, which may be something a judge who is heedful of ecclesiastical pronouncements cannot dispense.

Therefore, the authors argue, we need to know whether judges are legally disqualified from hearing cases that their consciences would let them decide. While mere identification of a judge as Catholic is not sufficient reason for recusal under federal law, the authors suggest that the moral impossibility of enforcing capital punishment in such cases as sentencing, enforcing jury recommendations, and affirming are in fact reasons for not participating.

every justice is going to come to the court with their conscience. they are actually people with actual beliefs. any religious person will bring their world view with them on the court. as long as they rule in good faith and on the basis of the actual law. i hated some of the decisions scalia authored, but he was a legal giant. he was also catholic, and he was confirmed 98-0. again, different time and all that.

That is one front in a much larger battle. It is pathetic how little privacy is valued in this nation of laws. On its current trajectory, the right to be left alone will become more and more difficult - and unprotected by the Constitution.

Yeah. Once you try to divide "beliefs" from "dogma," you have a problem.

She makes a great point. RBG shouldn’t be replaced by someone that would dramatically flip the balance of power. Unless...she said these things because of her partisan beliefs and doesn’t in fact believe them. If she doesn’t believe them, what else is she willing to profess for the sake of her party

She’s a subservient woman who will vote to overturn roe v wade and whatever else her white male leaders tell her they want her to do.

If that’s what you want on the Supreme Court then by all means support her. Just stop pretending like it’s anything else besides that.

Perhaps the board’s resident misogyny expert gonna chime in here?

Fuck.  I think Lagoa might have actually been ok.  LOTS of potential for being a "switch in time."  Also, rather atypically broad judicial experience.

Barrett not so much.

Who knew that the boards self appointed both sides libertarian was such a big proponent of overturning Roe v. Wade?

Seems like an odd stance for a libertarian but these are some strange times.

Why? If you think a fetus is a human, then it's not that hard to say you're killing someone who's innocent.

Trump thinks Barrett is gonna help him steal the election. That’s all he cares about.

The anti abortion crowd thinks she will vote to overturn Roe v Wade. They’re right.
