Wonder if the Elk is wondering if he can toss some of the bread back in the portal now that several Bama players likely hop in the motherfucker very soon..

I love that aggy was crowing about the number of players they were able to snag out of the portal

He's already rotated out a couple - the ODU WR and the Marshall DE.

poor aggy

That looks like a slide for a sit-com.

Oh, Where's Evan? follows the hijinx of lovable Evan Stewart who may not always know where he belongs but ends up belonging there anyway! He's just so cheerful and likeable!

Pretty obvious attempt to detoxify his image.

Texas A&M pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff headed back to Auburn

Carter Karels (Aggie 247)

Spoiler

Texas A&M pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff headed back to Auburn

Carter Karels (Aggie 247)

Earlier this month, Texas A&M announced its hiring of former Auburn secondary/cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff in a similar role. Approximately one week later, McGriff evidently had a change of heart.

McGriff, who received “pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach” as his title with the Aggies, is headed back to the Tigers in a similar on-field assistant role. Auburn Undercover – the 247Sports website that covers the Tigers – first reported the news Thursday evening.

Without McGriff, new Aggie head coach Mike Elko now has nine on-field assistants: Collin Klein (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks), Trooper Taylor (associate head coach/running backs), Holmon Wiggins (co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers), Adam Cushing (run game coordinator/offensive line), Jay Bateman (defensive coordinator/linebackers), Sean Spencer (defensive line), Tony Jerod-Eddie (defensive line), Ishmael Aristide (defensive backs) and Patrick Dougherty (special teams coordinator).

If A&M fills its 10th and final spot with another secondary coach, senior defensive analyst Bryant Gross-Armiento would make a lot of sense. Gross-Armiento served as secondary coach for the Aggies last season, and Elko retained him in an off-field role. But Elko might look to hire a more veteran coach like McGriff.

Auburn hired McGriff ahead of the 2023 season, but he took a step back from his on-field role in October. Tiger head coach Hugh Freeze told reporters that McGriff was dealing with a “personal issue” and shifted roles to the "chief of accountability and in-house recruiting.”

McGriff has been a college coach for more than three decades, serving various roles at Savannah State (1990-94), Kentucky State (1995-99), Eastern Kentucky (2000), Kentucky (2001-02), Baylor (2003-06), Miami (2007-10), Vanderbilt (2011), Ole Miss (2012; 2016-18), New Orleans Saints (2013-15), Auburn (2016; 2019-21; 2023), Florida (2021) and Louisville (2022). He worked with Aristide at Auburn (2016) and Ole Miss (2017-18).

Within the last decade, McGriff has established himself as a solid SEC recruiter. He helped land several of the nation’s top recruits, including the No. 1 overall player in the 2013 class: Ole Miss defensive end Robert Nkemdiche. McGriff played a role in his team signing two other former five-star recruits via the 247Sports Composite: defensive backs Brandon Harris (Miami) and Tony Conner (Ole Miss).

Let me get this straight: Jimbo was fired for sucking with the secondary sucking horribly being a major reason. The secondary coach gets demoted to a $50K/year analyst job in a dingy basement.

Now Looch is going to need to spin him returning as secondary coach as a huge Elko W. 👌

I am disappointed as the phrase "this was expected " or  "this was not a surprise ' wasn't uttered one time.

But they’ve convinced themselves that they’re on an academic par with MIT, with an alumni network like Yale, with a military program like West Point, and an athletic program like Alabama in football, Duke in basketball, and UT in baseball

aggy doesn't think they are on par with those programs, they believe they are better than them.

The only reason this guy’s not completely wrong is that whoever replaces Saban will never be Saban, never dominate the way Saban did, and then be run out. Anyone should be leery of following a legend, particularly arguably the GOAT.

This will be read by hundreds who will repeat it multiple times as though they just heard the voice of God and must share the brilliant flash of originality with the hoi polloi.

You see, everything has changed in college football due to NIL.

It's the sad state of coaching today. Deboer probable given the speech of you do well this is the last job you'll have. You do poorly, this is the last job you will ever need with the buyout we'll provide.

What's the part that's specific to today? Because following a legend has always been miserably hard. And getting paid a lot hardly seems sad.

The part where a guy without a championship's buyout will easily be $50M+ instead of $10-15M

You're confusing a buyout with a guarantee.

- Even at Washington, the rumored new $9MM - $10MM per year contract would have been guaranteed.  So $70MM - $100MM total.  That's what the school would have had to pay him, if the school chose to terminate his employment.

- His Bama salary could be a little above that, so the guaranteed total could be commensurately higher, assuming equal duration.

- The size of the buyout determines what he - or typically the school that hires him away - would have to pay, to leave.  The smaller the buyout, the easier it is for him to leave.

- For example, Fisher had approx. $100MM guaranteed, with a $0 buyout.

There's no way. No school would be stupid enough to sign a coach to a contract for $100MM guaranteed with no buyout. Oh wait, nevermind.
