I've already had coaches and trainers reach out on certain guys behalf. Those names will be withheld until they actually enter the portal.

Did Brauny just publicly admit that the message board branch of the athletic department is actively involved in tampering with currently signed player before the portal is open?

They don't give a shit about rules. TexAgs has been recruiting for them since it was founded, whether it's trying to talk kids into going to A&M or making videos about them as a means of coercion. And you can count on the fact that Billy Loochie and his band of butt buddies passes along any intel they receive from a recruit or his family directly to the coaching staff.

Everyone knows that, it is just rare that the blast out publicly, though.

Did Texas back off Ty smith? If so, why

Gerry said a couple of days ago that we asked him to push back his official visit to a time when the staff wasn't so busy with game prep.  While that can be read at face value, I think there's also an element of "let's see if his interest is genuine and durable" with that approach.  I think Sark does that with a lot of recruits who aren't generational.  Basically he wants to see if they will take some initiative.  Well, it turns out his interest wasn't genuine.

Help an older guy out here...wtf does "cap" mean?

Quote

In modern-day usage, "cap" is often used as a verb or an adjective to describe something as fake or dishonest. For example, someone might say "He's capping" to mean "He's lying" or "That story is cap" to mean "That story is fake".

Conversely, "no cap" is used to indicate that someone is being truthful or sincere. For example, someone might say "No cap, that's the best burger I've ever had" to mean "I'm being serious, that's the best burger I've ever had."

"He returned to the SEC West in 2023 as Jimbo Fisher's offensive coordinator at Texas A&M. Petrino's stay there proved benign, as sources said he avoided staff strife and the A&M offense played well, finishing No. 25 nationally in scoring."

Is that quote from the article accurate?

Interesting stuff on Elko's likely coaching staff.

("Santucci would call the defenses. It's what he did at Duke.

Elko will be looking over his shoulder.")

Some Wednesday morning A&M coaching notes

Texas A&M let three coaches walk this week who will not be coaching in the bowl game: offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, offensive line coach Steve Addazio, and receivers’ coach Dameyun Craig. All of them were considered to be Fisher loyalists in comparison to most but not all of the other coaches on the staff. This is because they were all hired by him and also had ties to him dating back over a decade.

This is not the deficiency it appears to be on the surface (in terms of the bowl game) since if you’ve ever been to a A&M practice “analysts” did much of the on the field coaching themselves…and the Aggies will probably retain enough of those guys to handle workouts through the bowl game.

The only other coaches who were directly hired by Fisher were defensive coordinator DJ Durkin and tight ends’ coach James Coley. Durkin probably won’t be retained because he would be considered a Fisher guy. Coley has value through the bowl game in terms of his ability to coach multiple skill positions and call plays as an interim offensive coordinator. Running backs’ coach Marquel Blackwell was hired by Petrino so odds are he’ll eventually have to find a home elsewhere as well.

The remainder of the defensive side of the ball features two coaches who Elko brought in during his time in Aggieland: Elijah Robinson (who will be retained in much the same role as he had before under Fisher) and cornerback’s coach TJ Rushing. However, Elko also brought Ishmael Aristide to Duke from A&M (and promoted him from a graduate assistant to an on the field coach) when were previously in College Station.

Most of Duke’s defensive staff have been with Elko for years and so they’re liable to come with him virtually en masse, especially as the co-defensive coordinator would probably be former A&M co-defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci (who called the defenses at Duke as Elko’s defensive coordinator).

As far as we can tell, coaches both still at Duke or A&M are talking to prospects committed to their programs and they’re likely to be doing that through their bowl games in order to allow both programs to maintain some continuity. Duke has elevated running backs’ coach Trooper Taylor to interim head coach.

If Elko brings over Duke offensive coordinator Kevin Johns, then that suggests that at least one of the Blue Devils’ offensive staff will be coming over with him as well. Offensive line coach Adam Cushing worked with Johns at Northwestern in different roles between 2005 and 2010 and is considered to be highly likely to follow Johns to his next gig.

Taylor and receivers’ coach Zohn Burden are considered to be very good recruiters, especially Burden. Burden has worked parts of Virginia extensively (up until 2020 he had never worked for a school outside the state of Virginia and was at Virginia Tech for multiple seasons). Taylor has coached multiple positions at multiple programs in the South including Texas.

Man I love how the coaches that leave are Fisher guys. But the ones that stay Elko and e-rob. Are not Fisher guys. They were all hired by him

I enjoy this as well. Elko by definition was a Fisher guy.

Also, holy shit Trooper Taylor is not only still alive but he's now a head coach.
