New house to me and the closet light is this LED type.  Light does not come on now when you flip the switch.  What am I replacing, the led strip? The black Accudrive box thing?  The whole damn fixture?

The new ones at HD say they are good for 40,000 something hours or somesuch.  Best I can tell mine would probably have about 10 hours total on it so I’m guessing something has failed.

Please halp.

It may depend on the fixture but i recently had an LED fixture fail. It was a decorative fixture and it wasn’t cheap to replace. There were no replacement strips available that i could find. The strip is built into the unit. But a new LED fixture can last around 50,000 hours. At 5 hours a day that’s around 27 years. My new fixture came with a 5 yr warranty and it’s rated for 50,000 hours. The old one was 6 years old and it’s probably a fluke that it broke.

Oh, and I recently replaced one of my garage fluorescent fixtures with an LED unit like yours and it was about $39 for the entire unit. My guess is that you just replace the entire fixture.

Did the light ever work for you? (ie. sure the switch / breaker etc had been working)

If yes, I would just replace the whole unit with a newer one that will be much better anyway and run you only like $30. Will save you lots of time and hassle.

Just replaced the whole thing.  Took 5 minutes and $40.  I guess the estimated life on these things are advertised bullshit just like these lights that they said you would never have to replace.
