This is an odd story.  Some broad, 38 years old and an experienced hiker, was missing for two weeks in Zion NP.

After the initial search was called off, other park visitors spotted her near a creek or river.

Supposedly, she hit her head, became disoriented, and couldn't leave or didn't want to leave the water source.  She was found dehydrated and malnourished.  This according to her daughter.

Now it is being reported that she mostly walked out under her own power.

Clearly, she is crazy as a shithouse rat.

Something here doesn't add up.

I mean, an experienced hiker should know to follow the water downstream. On the one hand she could barely take two steps, but on the other she managed to walk out under her own power...

Sounds like maybe she either wasn't that experienced or she was suicidal. I guess the caveat to that would be that there is the possibility that following the water downstream could lead to some technical canyoneering that she didn't have the equipment to navigate, but we would need someone familiar with the area to weigh in on that.

This is like that chick who got lost for a week or two in a tiny national park in Hawaii a few years ago....It's honeycombed with trails, nowhere was the park more than a few miles from a highway, and she wandered lost for days and days. And then I think her brother rescued her?

So she got dehydrated, and as somebody said, diarrhea could do that fast if you drank not-so-clean water.

And doctors said her potassium levels had bottomed out and she was starting to have kidney failure.  Sounds like she was within a few days of dying.

For the love of Pete, tell people where you are going and where you will be in the park.  Jesus.  Happens in Big Bend each year.  Some idiots take the land for granted and pay with their lives and the Rangers don't have any idea of where to look for them.

Yeah, that makes a certain amount of sense.

But how often do hikers sustain head injuries?

And the whole "credible tip" thing.

It sounds like she was pretty much "in the open," and/or "near a trail" and fairly easily seen by other hikers who, rather than attempt to render aid, gave a "credible tip."

Almost sounds like she was going "Hills Have Eyes" or something.

Weirddddddd.

Way too much strange about this story.   2 weeks seems like a long time to survive out there.   I think she might have gone to hang out with another dude for a week.  Either that or she was replaced by an alien.

It is two hours from Vegas.

This story, taken on its face is full of shit. That is rough country. It’s hot in the day and cold as fuck at night and she had nothing? Walked out with rescuers under her own power? Yeah, bullshit.

That chick, and that look/those eyes in particular, is a carbon copy of a fling from my past way back in the day, almost did a double take. Not surprisingly, she was team "orange" as well.

Just gonna point out that on this graph, the Y-axis baseline level of crazy is 4.

Quit being insensitive and mansplaining this.......That water source was not alkaline.  You can't expect her to drink that, especially when she didn't have her essential oils and crystals with her.

I did a 5 day 4 night hike in Zion last year and this story doesn’t make sense. Every day I saw at least one person on the trail and I bet with Covid it’s more packed. You have to have permits to camp and cannot just show up.
