I have a few relatives who are blaming the bullshit at the border on Biden's inflation (I shit you not), but most people understand DPS fucking around after the trucks have been through the federal checks is Abbott's doing.  I've been pointing out that DPS is taking the chance to write a shit-ton of tickets, which is slowing everything down even more.

It's not really hit most areas yet though, and it's going to take a few more days, which makes me think Abbott will still shut it down after he gets a few "promises" from the Mexican leadership.  If this drags out and really starts to impact more grocery stores and restaurants, Miller will probably ramp up the rhetoric.  If he's got aspirations for higher office, this is a great issue to hammer Abbott over.

This assumes people are paying attention.

If it doesn’t make it to Fox News, it’s not real news. I mean that in, Fox isn’t even trying spin it to deflect. They’re just ignoring it.

Abbott will not pay a political price.

The cake is baked my friend.
President Brandon, man. That’s the narrative.

Its a meme. The President is a meme that encapsulates all bad things.

That’s the difference between Teflon Don vs Let’s go Brandon.

It took a global Pandemic to take down trump. That’s the only way he lost.

People trip on a fucking tree root and blame it on Biden. It’s unreel and It gives me no real hope in the future.

He’s completely dropped the inspections.  After hundreds of millions of dollars in losses.  That he doesn’t have to cover.  But that we will be paying for.  Because Republicans are so fiscally responsible..

Restrictions are fine when they are put on the other guy. Restrictions for thee but not for me. It's part of the new American ethos.

honestly...i often wish i was stupid. or at least uninformed. like i seriously wish i cared way more about 'Real Housewives' or making TikTok videos or the Kardashians or something. those people all seem happy in their obliviousness.

but noooo... i'm a textbook overthinker, reader, and analytical type who just HAD to major in government and sociology 😐 well, fuck me 🤬

bleah!

Yep.  I'm pretty much heading to that place.  Well, maybe not the Kardashians.  But I'm going to pay attention and do what I can until 2024.  After that, if shit goes sideways, I'm out.  I have enough of a safety net that I'll probably be ok.  My brain just can't handle it anymore after what will almost be a decade of this shit.  I've only got one life and I'm not going to spend the rest of it trying to stop these ghouls.

So he ended it on Friday…turns out freedom truckers put out statements bitching about it the day before.  Interesting timing.

$9 billion.  Abbott's political stunt cost the US economy $9 billion, with almost half of that impact falling on Texas alone:

https://www.mrt.com/news/state/article/Perryman-Abbott-s-border-inspections-cost-17116604.php

Quote

Long wait lines for trucks at the border after Gov. Greg Abbott ordered increased inspections cost Texas more than $4.2 billion in goods and services and the equivalent of 36,000 jobs, a report from Texas economist Ray Perryman said Wednesday.

The border standoff essentially ended Friday after nine days, with Abbott agreeing to end the additional inspections on commercial vehicles after the governors of four Mexican states — Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas — announced they had reached security agreements with Texas.

But the dispute that started April 7 cost about $1 billion a day in cross-border trade to the United States and $470 million a day to Texas.

In all, it will cost the equivalent of 77,000 job years for the country and 36,300 for Texas’ economy, Perryman said. A job year is considered to be one person working for a year, though Perryman said in this case it’s primarily multiple people working for shorter periods.

For the U.S. as a whole, that’s about $9 billion in lost gross domestic product, Perryman estimated. He has studied the Texas economy for more than 40 years and regularly examines the economic repercussions of significant events affecting the state.

Abbott and the GQP are at war against the people of Texas and the US, and our economic well-being.  They are willing to sacrifice you, your life, your job, your income, for their political grandstanding on Fox and Newsmax.  That truth is beyond argument or debate.

That may actually cost him some votes. Three maybe four actual votes. Dumb fucking state.

Correct.  It has been sufficiently proven that a (R) candidate in this state could walk up to the average voter's house, pour gasoline on it, strike a match and light it, and forbid the fire department from fighting the fire as the house burned to the ground, and he'd still have that voter's support.

Because socialism and pedophiles in a pizza parlor and MAGA and shit.

We're committing political suicide with a smile on our face.

This.  They are also the trump train people that tried to run Biden's bus off of I-35.
