Most of Canada’s cotton imports come from  Turkey, they import very little from the US. Our Governor is a fucking ignorant moron about his own state everything.

FIF accuracy.

These retrograde morons want the world to revert to favoring entities with resource/resource extraction economies.  There's a pretty solid common thread about resource/resource extraction economies: they are 1) good for enriching a very small class of elites/barons/oligarchs who control the resource at issue (cotton, oil, silver mines, etc.) and 2) terrible for everyone else in that society, as they are relegated to the role of laboring peons working for a pittance "in the mines" etc.

The counterpart is a developed economy that has gotten away from relying on resource/resource extraction as its centerpiece, and adds dimensions of services and technological innovation, manufacturing, etc.  You know....EXACTLY what the American economy looked like when we were the "Great" of "Make America Great Again."  And.....Abbott and his butt buddies want to destroy that.

Dumbest.  Fucking.  Timeline.  Ever.

Hey, rayon isn't petro-based, it's closer to wood pulp.

Either way, so long as it's toxic to manufacture and terrible for the environment.

Over the weekend, Hot Wheels said he wanted to give $10K to private school programs and claimed that schools will be funded and teachers will get raises and property taxes will get lower.

I liked his "we will continue to fully fund public schools."

Dude...you sick, lying fuck....you have to START "fully funding public schools" before you can CONTINUE to fully fund them.  We rank 41st in school funding per student, and teachers are paid $7,700 less than the national average.  That lying fuckface is an evil sonofabitch.

He also said that the GOP would prevent any more rapes in Texas.  I think he resides in the same fantasy land that dotard, MTG, and tits with a gun do.

We’re now at the “make cotton great again” stage. Full reversion to pre-Civil War coming soon.

As part of the ptax relief, he wants 10billion to go toward it after both house and senate marked 1bn. Wants an extra 0 among friends. Additionally he wants any tax rate hikes requiring a vote to be approved by a 2/3rd super majority instead of simple 50% plus 1. Bc I guess the ppls vote matters, but only if it’s overwhelming

They are using the Oklahoma rules,  I only needed 51% of the vote this one time to get something passed in the future that will require 67% of the vote, since I know it will never happen.

Property tax relief hasnt happened in 30 years. Why? Because property values keep ascending, aided in part by the stimulus of lower property taxes. We would get property tax relief if we raised property tax rates while increasing homeowners exemptions.

For residential dwellings, families are fighting a losing battle with global investors. One way to tilt it a bit for homeowners is nail investors. Perhaps add landlord exemptions for longterm leases to residents.

On that first paragraph I could really get into the weeds on the feedback loop regarding slashing tax rates and the overinflating of commercial values. As well as the insanity of rates being set based on the certified roll before litigation is wrapped on values.

As for the UT President him leaving for the SMU job only tells me he was sick and tired of the politicians in Austin.  All of them think they can run the University better than the President.

I think he didn’t like the way some things were handled. He may be too conservative to lead Texas

I have never understood why the governor, a Texas Ex that has done nothing but support the school, is mocked with a nickname that makes fun of his disability on a Texas website.

So, rather than criticize his opinions and stands, you mock his disability?

This too.  Texas AD isn’t being interfered with by state politicians. And CDC has control of the boosters.

It’s the best gig

Matter of time.   Someone will be forced to write a trans policy soon for the AD and then the DEI examinations in a dept where most of the students are black will be next and it will get way shittier from there.
