seems like a no brainer, don't worry, he'll still beat Beto by 8. Beto wants to take your guns in the middle of the night with a gestapo police force that won't knock on your door and he's already got the registry because of gun registration requirements so hold your balls men and women hold your husbands balls too Beto's coming for both of you!  AND on top of that he wants to turn the Texas grid over to the feds, and when has that ever been a good thing, S-E-C, S-E-C, S-E-C-E-D-E!!!  Keep Texas #1!!! We're Texas! Own the Libs!

The gays that have gone over to the dark side are really interesting to me.  I mean, that is a special kind of evil to attach yourself to a political party that openly wants you dead.

it's a weird kind of psychology.

i would argue that it's not evil, like @NameAlreadyInUse said. it's just sad.

I would argue that it is evil because it's not like they don't know what they are doing.  They are grifting and putting other LBGTQ+ people in harm's way.

It's both sad and evil.

They hate themselves.  But they can't bring themselves to inflict cruelty on themselves -- it's really hard to punch yourself in the face.  So, they find those who are like them -- that is, those who are like the version of themselves that they hate -- and inflict cruelty onto THOSE people.

So, it starts with insanely deranged self-loathing, which is irrational and sad.  But then it turns to purposefully hurting others, which is evil.

It's really the sick and twisted GQP way of being in the world wrapped up in a single package.

Garza continued in a direct appeal to Texas voters: "Everybody that's getting ready to vote, I want you guys to know that. These guys don't have compassion for us. They don't care. [Abbott] doesn't care that all these children were murdered and these teachers were murdered. Y'all need to realize that."

^^^This needs to be heard

In recent interviews, Uvalde Mayor Don McLauglin said that he has repeatedly called on Abbott to return to Uvalde to speak with grieving family members. During a press conference Sunday, McLaughlin said he had not heard from the governor in four weeks.

Mayor is a Republican I believe. Abbott is fucking this one up pretty good, and normally he does well with these things.  This is the kind of shit that could knock a few points off of Abbott’s polling.  The fact that it involves a lot of Hispanic families is not a good thing for him either.

Even the fucking vampire Cruz reached out and made an attempt.

Yeah, the mayor was all up in Beto’s grille during Abbott’s initial presser. He looks pretty stupid now.

He looked stupid then too. The guy is just reading the political winds and needs to slightly call out Abbot.

And it all goes back to how they were raised, and how they internalized the messages from their family and their churches about homosexuality.  I don't know this guy, but I know people like him.  In some ways I can see a little of myself in him.
One of two things have happened here from what I know of this guy.
#1 - He was a rebellious teenager and was being extra gay because he was trying to get a rise out of his parents, but then he matured a little bit, realized how much him being gay was hurting his parents feelings, or their perceived reputation around town, and he decided that for his family he would pretend not to be gay anymore.  This would give him better access to the love of his family that he craves.  In order to prove that he's truly not gay anymore, he must, I repeat must, be extra straight.  In Deer Park that means he needs to drive a truck and wear a cowboy hat and be a good republican and go to church.  And in Deer Park if you are going to church it means that you are probably getting to hear about how terrible homos are on the regular.  So he just gets inundated over and over with this message about how broken he is, which causes him to act out even more to prove how he's straight and therefore not broken, and it's a cycle that just never ends.  In this scenario he's likely fucking his wife just often enough not to arouse suspicion, but his browser history is full of gay porn.
#2 - He was happy being gay but his family threatened to cut him off from their will, and so he's overcompensating to prove just how straight he is now so that he can stay in the will.  In this scenario he will drop all of this as soon as the money from the estate is deposited in his account.  In this one he's finding excuses to leave the state and he's fucking every piece of strange he can whenever he's not home.  Also, his browser history is full of gay porn.
I could be wrong, but I suspect that he's sitting in one of those two scenarios.  Had I made a couple of choices a little differently, I could absolutely have been #1 myself.   I'm so fucking glad I picked correctly, because It seems like a really really miserable existence.

But, I mean….either way, your browser is full of gay porn, right? Because, I mean…you post around here.

And Hillary commanded the Latino vote well in Texas in 2016. Joe did not in 2020 and probably will not get their vote in the future by relying on demographics instead of effort. His effort goes into states that have proven to vote blue and re-solidly whatever blue wall is left in the Midwest, upper Midwest.

There we’re numerous counties in South Texas with Dem participation higher in this years primary than showed in 2020 to vote.

Not in Uvalde.

Uvalde is a speck on the Texas map, something that happened "over there."  Because Abbott's policies and buffoonery had a tangible and horrific affect on this one community, I'm sure several Uvalde residents, Latino and otherwise, who would've otherwise voted for Abbott will now vote for Beto.  But I think in this election cycle we'll see the continuing trend of more Latinos statewide voting R.

As mentioned, New York had to deal with the fucking Italians and Irish.

Abbott and the Texas GOP have had decades to do shit (Abbott has been AG or Governor for 20 years), but they only seem to get upset and call it a crisis when a Democrat is in the WH.  Wonder why that is.

Oh yeah, and Bush, McCain, etc. we’re talking about a guest worker program in 2006.

And in August of 2001, Rick Perry gave a speech at the border with the Mexican President where Perry talked about an open border and a shared healthcare system in the region (using telemedicine) and making it easier to cross the border. The Texas Legislature had even passed House Bill 2498 to look into Texas delivering healthcare to citizens on both sides of the border (from Perry’s speech):

Quote

Legislation authored by border legislators Pat Haggerty and Eddie Lucio establishes an important study that will look at the feasibility of bi-national health insurance. This study recognizes that the Mexican and U.S. sides of the border compose one region, and we must address health care problems throughout that region. That’s why I am also excited that Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar is working on an initiative that could extend the benefits of telemedicine to individuals living on the Mexican side of the border.

Perry and the Republicans even wanted to boost Texas education, including for those in Texas who were from other places/countries:

Quote

The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABC’s in classrooms all along this border. Immigrants from around the world are being taught in Texas classrooms, and our history is rich with examples of new citizens who have made great contributions. We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, “we don’t care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.” And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers. That’s why Texas took the national lead in allowing such deserving young minds to attend a Texas college at a resident rate. Those young minds are a part of a new generation of leaders, the doors of higher education must be open to them. The message is simple: educacion es el futuro, y si se puede.

Perry and the Republicans were pretty fucking serious about boosting cross-border activity

Quote

President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity. It means we have addressed pollution concerns, made substantial progress in stopping the spread of disease, and rid our crossings of illicit drug smuggling activity. Clearly we have a long way to go in addressing those issues. At the same time we must continue to deepen our economic ties, expanding opportunities for Mexican and U.S. companies to do business on both sides of the border. The outlook is promising, even if the road to prosperity is a long one. We share a bond as neighbors, and we find our culture north of the Rio Grande to be increasingly defined by the strong traits of people of Hispanic descent. Texas has long enjoyed a unique identity, an identity forged by an independent spirit, and the convergence of many different peoples. We must welcome change in the 21st Century as we have in every century before it.

Crazy to think that with Abbott’s educational background vs Rick Perry barely passing meat science and animal husbandry or whatever at Aggy, that Perry had an actual competent and well-thought out vision for Texas 20 years ago.

Now it’s a bunch of chimpanzees shitting in their hands and throwing it at liberals.
