The beverage giant had already announced that it will discontinue some beloved, if outdated, drinks, like Tab, Zico and Odwalla. Thursday was the first time the company said it would get rid of 200 of them.

Reducing the portfolio will allow Coca-Cola to focus on its most profitable offerings, the company explained. Those include its core products like Coca-Cola Zero Sugar as well as brands that fit into trendy new categories, like Topo Chico hard seltzer and AHA, a caffeinated seltzer the company launched last year.

There's a stark difference between Coca-Cola's successful brands and its struggling ones, CEO James Quincey said over the summer. He explained that the underperforming beverages have "little to no scale," and that their sales represent only 2% of total revenue.

Tab goes the way of Jolt Cola

Western tastes in beverages still baffle me.  Eventually the big guys have to retool but it seems to be all sparkling beveages, Hard Seltzers, IPA's, pumpkin spice coffees, and probiotic juices these days.  But there's obviously a market there.

Still, you'd be surprised how long you can sustain yourself on a regiment of water, coffee, and whiskey.  Sometimes, altogether.

I was having significant cardiac symptoms for the past month. Lots of random chest pain, pain radiating to my elbow, etc.  I had stents put in 4 years ago and have always had some anxiety induced symptoms but the past month had been worse.  I cut out diet soda a week ago and I have not had a single symptom since. Now I wonder if all my symptoms for the past few years were caffeine instead of anxiety induced.  Gonna do a stress test anyway next week to be safe but it's definitely looking like it was just caffeine.

I went on a two week dry spell earlier this year from soda and had gotten over the caffiene headaches etc.  Then my brother convinced me to try one of those and I jumped right back into the addiction.

Agreed.  Wanted to try their cherry chocolate version but it was only in limited release and don't think it made up here in NY.

Stopped drinking sodas and I am now addicted to Topo Chico.  We go through a case a week.

Keep in mind that Topo Chico does have some sodium, albeit quite a bit less than basic club soda.

I like most of the Waterloo flavored seltzers, better than La Croix IMO.  Strawberry may be my favorite.

the soda formula tastes like ass though.  even the pepsi-branded stuff.  (stop it, coke doesnt sell the syrup to consumers).

just drank a coke today.  the idea that a little can contains 30 g of sugar.  its pretty disturbing if you saw that volumetrically

I quit drinking sodas 5 years ago, but damn, Dr. Pepper was always my favorite

I do find the Coca Cola company fascinating, like McD’s, they’re products are delicious but are horrible for you. I guess I like to see how they continually change and survive.

La Croix is garbage. How can water make you thirstier.

Haven't had a soda in 2.5 years.  Powerade zero calorie is my jam though.  Hopefully they don't cut the orange flavor.

If while an occasional sweetened beverage is fine if you can wean yourself of those you’ll be helping yourself out in the long run. The naturally flavored unsweetened (or unflavored) low calorie waters (still or sparkling) are a healthier option.

A Coca Cola is my favorite hangover cure.  The combo of the sugar and the carbonated water is absolutely magical.

Other than that, I maybe have one coke a week on average.  I do not drink diet, but I have found a coke a week keeps the sugar cravings at a minimum.

Ugh there was nothing better than chugging a fountain drink coke after a night of drinking.

When hangovers would make more frequent appearances in my life, I was a big fan of the ice cold 32 oz  bottle of orange gatorade, and not that G-Zero crap....the OG Gatorade.....its got electrolytes.

We're a Dr. Pepper family; however, the wife and I just watched a doc on Dublin Dr. Pepper and now she wants to stop buying it.  FWIW, the doc is about how corporate shut down the original, sugar-based Dr. Pepper in Dublin.

Anyone else agree with the phenomena that Dr. Pepper tastes good out of a bottle, but shitty over ice whereas coke tastes shitty out of a bottle, but better over ice?

The single best thing you can do for your health, your weight, and your attractiveness is to stop drinking sodas. They are one of the worst possible things you can put in your body.

I decided 22 years ago to stop drinking them cold turkey. For the first few months it was tough, but within a year I not only didn’t want them, I didn’t enjoy them when I drank them. In 22 years, I’ve had fewer than ten sodas, and only drank them because of either boredom or a lack of access to water. My entire liquid diet is water, coffee and alcohol and that’s it. Not even juices because it’s basically natural sugar water. And I don’t miss any of it.

Diet Dr. Pepper is my drink, and caffeine, of choice. I don't do coffee so my first one is at 6:00 am. I used to drink a 2 liter bottle a day, but have cut back. Now just 3 cans with my last one around noon with lunch.

I’m unsure on the “attractiveness” part, but you have it right-they’re all awful for the body.  That said, I may sneak in one or two 20 ounce Sprites or ginger ales monthly during the season to treat those damned Texas football hangover flus.............

I haven’t drank soda with any frequency since college. But I’m glad I’m blessed with decent metabolism, because my mom bought pallets of Coke when I was a kid and I remember during the summer time going through 6 or so a day, on top of the chips and other junk food in the house. We had pretty healthy dinners, but our pantry was loaded with crap snap food. I’m surprised I wasn’t overweight as a kid.

But still, every once in a long while, I love a Coke or Dr. Pepper from a soda foundation on ice.

Idk about Dr. Pepper being better in a bottle but but coke sucks unless its in a big glass with extra ice.
