It's a hypothetical. If we're OK with Clinton taking money, we're fine with Trump doing it too, right?

It's very simple. It's Kant's Categorical Imperative. It's the litmus test for determining if you are acting like a partisan douchebag.

If the other guy did it, would you be OK with it?

The Trump foundation was dissolved because of multiple felonies, that's not a hypothetical. That's a fact.

Just an FYI, any man that continuously whines about rep on a message board is automatically assumed to have a tiny little penis and/or is a virgin.

We passed that resolution at our last meeting of the Ladies of the Internet.

I thought it only fair to inform y’all.

By the way, does he even own the hotels? He mainly leases his name is my understanding, though I expect he owns some personally.

Emoluments is a dead letter. But good luck with that. Russians were going to stay at his hotels if he won or lost. All I'm advocating for is don't miss.

Can we crowdsource this fool?  He's not even trying.  I'll start.

Sure, as long as Trump opens up his books like the Clintons.

Nope.  So long as its a FISA warrant, I'm fine with it.  They don't just hand those out for everything.  Next question.

What of they did? Would there be any ramifications for paying for oppo research then using that info to get a FISA warrent and spy on your political opponents? Some sort of 'insurance policy'?

But they don't.

Well that settles it! Release the FISA warrent and the Mueller report and everyone can stop crying over this stupid bullshit.

Nothing's gonna happen, it's a show to keep people entertained. Trump trained in the WWF for this heel role and he's doing it perfectly.

https://civilrights.findlaw.com/enforcing-your-civil-rights/discrimination-in-public-accommodations.html

Quote

Federal and state laws prohibit discrimination against certain protected groups in businesses and places that are considered "public accommodations." The definition of a "public accommodation" may vary depending upon the law at issue (i.e. federal or state), and the type of discrimination involved (i.e. race discrimination or disability discrimination). Generally speaking, it may help to think of public accommodations as most (but not all) businesses or buildings that are open to (or offer services to) the general public. More specifically, the definition of a "public accommodation" can be broken down into two types of businesses / facilities:

  • Government-owned/operated facilities, services, and buildings
  • Privately-owned/operated businesses, services, and buildings

What am I missing here? I stated the law correctly. Trump is "taking money from Russians" in the same sense that they are paying to stay at his hotels. To deny them that service would be illegal. Everyone who has owns a public accomodation "takes money form the russians".

Wildcat correctly identified it's an ethical conflict. It's a good talking point. But it's not politically significant.

But I'l restate my question. Why don't people act normal here? Why can't you just respond "Well, that's a good point. On the other hand, it's an ethical conflict. His unwillingness to create an effective blind trust means that he can be influenced by people spending money at his hotels". Because that would be entirely valid and factually correct.

If donations to the Clinton foundation are irellevant than visits to Trump resorts are too.

Those two are not the same at all. The Clintons have not used their Foundation for personal gain.

He’s literally getting foreign dollars routed to his pocket via his hotels. They aren’t going to a foundation. They’re going right to his personal bottom line.

You don’t fucking care about corruption. You’re just another lying piece of shit. On the bright side, congratulations on your upcoming cabinet appointment.

The Trump Organization said that it had donated the company’s 2018 profits from its business with foreign governments to the U.S. Treasury, the second year in a row that President Trump’s company has made such a move in an attempt to avoid running afoul of an anti-corruption provision in the Constitution.

The donation was for $191,538, up from $151,470 the previous year, according to a check dated Feb. 20 and made out to the Treasury, a copy of which the company provided. The check was signed by the president’s eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who are running the company while their father is in office.

“This voluntary donation fulfills our pledge to donate profits from foreign government patronage at our hotels and similar businesses during our father’s term in office,” Eric Trump said in a statement.

President Donald Trump has donated his salary from the third-quarter of 2018 to the federal agency that researches alcoholism and alcohol-related problems.

The White House says Trump donated $100,000 to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Alcoholism is a personal issue for the president. His older brother, Fred Jr., died in 1981 after struggling with alcoholism, and the president has said he learned from his brother's experience.

Trump pledged as a candidate in 2016 to not accept the $400,000 annual presidential salary he would be due if elected.

The daily drivel around inauguration was the Trump had to put his assets in a blind trust so he wouldn't know how his executive decisions affect the bottom line.  Actually all Presidents are supposed to do that with their assets.  Maybe President AOC will be the first not to on the grounds she has no money.

I mean, I appreciate the slow pitch across the plate.

Would you rather be poor in Venezuela, poor in Cuba, or poor in America? Your choice. But not really, all their poor want to move here.

Homelessness in America is a death sentence (for being short on rent). There's no way out of it, without socialism or family help. So, don't get severely injured or sick because America has NO true welfare system at all. Be good to your family members and be mindful while driving.

Trump assets are in a trust controlled by someone else, but it is just not blind. While we might prefer the traditional blind trust, someone who's going to be unethical is not going to be stopped by a document they drew up themselves.

If Homelessness is a death sentence in America then shouldn't the San Francisco street problem solve itself?

Let’s say we concede ever accusation of Hillary, go ahead, lock her up and throw away the key if it makes you feel better.

It still doesn’t change the facts surrounding Trump and his outlaw regime that are destroying and degrading whatever is left of our democratic institutions.

Disregard treachery, focus on Hillary.

How you can’t see how dumb this is remains remarkable.

So much this.  I couldn't care less about that bitch.  Lock her up.

What matters is the damage Dotus is doing and how it's being supported like morons like Chrispy, Hammer, et al.  Fuck you bitches.

I have no problem w/ that but the Dotus is a current clear and present danger to the U.S.  Let's get rid of that piece of shit and we can start a conversation.

The Democratic party has been doing that every day since the 2016 election. The Republican party has been actively attacking our democratic institutions for decades. Stop equivocating.

Only one side is doubling down on the stupidity of 2016. The other is at least doing some inward reflection of what they did wrong and presumably attempting to correct course.

Literally the only way to break the duopoly is to end first past the post voting. A lot of Dems are proposing exactly that. Precisely zero Republicans are.

lulz

The mental gymnastics required to deflect from the current state of the White House is amazing.

Hillary’s primary flaw was being the subject of a decades long campaign of bashing by Fox News, talking heads, radio hosts to the point that people just accept that “Hillary = corruption” without any evidence.
