You’re a huge piece of shit. I almost want the far right populists to take total control just so they march your fucking ass either into a camp or out of the country. You’re brown. You’re a second class citizen to them. You don’t make yourself sound smarter parroting their bullshit. You just sound fucking pathetic. Cocksucker.

I LOVE bullshit like this. It shows complete lack of any real counter to the need to control illegal immigration. Can you give me citation to back up your claim that I’d be subject to the scary Republican concentration camp in your dystopian future? It’s either some Nazi allusion or simple we hate brown people response. You’re a brain dead white liberal and are actually racist towards me because you expect me to toe the line of wanting unchecked immigration because of my background. Liberals go after people like me and Candace Owens even harder than other right wingers because we don’t conform to the identity based bullshit grouping you want us to stay in. That’s racism.

No one in the Trump Administration is attacking the illegals because of their race or ethnicity. They are poor, uneducated people coming illegally. That’s the fucking problem. It’s like you’re expecting the GOP will be instituting the Nuremberg Laws. Let me let you in on something, lots of US born 2nd or 3rd generation children of legal immigrants want immigration controlled. Talk to the Cuban-Americans in Florida and Mexican Americans with means. Lots of them agree with me.

There is def an argument for going ahead with impeachment. Make the Rs in the Senate argue the case for Cheeto.

they don't really have to argue, they just have to vote.  and they won't.

i guess i just don't see the point.  right now, the dems are being painted as whiny crybabies who won't let shit go.  this will help that argument with literally zero chance of removing him.

My position on all this nonsense has been pretty clearly laid out in numerous posts and restatements here. Typically in response to being called a treasonous traitor to the republic for calling out the right out nonsense and hysteria here and the scat site. I said that Trump would likely go down for financial crimes related to international real estate.  I didn't anticipate porn start payouts, and that was clearly a deficit in imagination. You need me to call out Barr for being a hack?  OK. He's a fucking hack. I am not sure his hack ass has infringed the power of the House to impeach.  I wish they would.  I am way fucking upside down in that market but committed to riding it out at this point.

Sorry about the gifs.  They bring me joy.

I’m good with that but you’re clearly not as neutral as you see yourself.  All good.

I think h-gandorf's rhetorical question is on point.  I get why Trump isn't bitching about Russian meddling in our elections -- there is zero doubt a great deal if not most or all of his bread is buttered with Russian dairy products.

But why aren't other Republicans pitching a fit over election interference?  Is it because they have hitched their wagon to Der Furor, or is it more nefarious, and they're actually in the same financial cahoots?

The Russia --> NRA --> DC pipeline isn't a figment of our imaginations.  It probably crosses the aisle, too.

Thinking back to Clinton, there was the trial in the House with R and D 'lawyers.' So arguments would definitely be made in the House. I was thinking maybe there were some closing arguments in the Senate before the vote. I may be wrong on that.

Of course I am not neutral.  I staked out a position wrt conspiracy and coordination a couple years ago.  That position was that the Trump campaign was not capable of coordinating among themselves, much less with a foreign entity to overthrow our democracy by posting pictures of LGBTQ Bernie on twitter. In response I was told that #bothsides went to Prague and similar such nonsense.

I’m pissed.

In a fb convo with my conservative dad and he’s unwilling and immune to reason.

Quotes from the report are met with “hogwash you’re just mad he’s conservative” and more.

Mueller basically says I can’t prosecute but congress can, here are the factual circumstances that could be obstruction and I can’t conclude that trump didn’t commit crimes.

You know what? Bring the judiciary committee process to a quick conclusion and proceed with impeachment.

I don’t give a rats ass if it isn’t politically viable or isn’t the political savvy thing to do.

Do the right thing goddammit!

even if literally everyone knows it's political theater (some won't figure it out for a while).  it helps his bullshit story if he acts pissed off and it plays to his base.  if he redirected some (fake) anger at russia (instead of at the left) it would play amazingly.  for that reason alone, i hope he doesn't do it.

Because we have weeded out the RINOs save for a few that are remaining. Unfortunately, their ranks were added by Romney but they’re nearly extinct. I’d rather have a Democrat that we can attack than a RINO. Republicans punch back and no longer apologize for everything like RINOs did. That’s why has the highest approval rating amongst Republicans in recent memory.

So you're going with the angle that current Republicans aren't concerned with external election interference?

OK, if that's the way you think it should be played.

No.

Take the mic from Barr and fulfill your constitutional obligation. You can’t say trump is a constitutional crisis and that he is breaking the law and not fulfill your own duties. It is my position that the House is obligated to pursue this for the preservation of the rule of law.

exactly.  you can't have it both ways.

either you have to accept that trump worked with russia, or you have to at least act pissed off and concerned.

Agree. Rs in the Senate would never convict. One positive of impeachment would be making the Rs (prob in the House) argue for Trump and justify his actions.

I think I misspoke. There may be some brief, concluding statments in the Senate, but the majority of the arguments occur in the House.

Let's play a game. Imagine every time the above has the word "president" in it, it is referring to Obama. Does your above statement change?

No. Obama's Wingman Eric Holder would assure the special counsel is removed by never appointing one.

ok, so i'm trying to pay attention but also get a little tiny bit of work in, so i'm behind.

it seems as if he didn't obstruct justice "officially" because the underlings didn't follow his orders to obstruct justice.  while earlier i asked if "attempted obstruction" is a thing, i think the more accurate assessment is "conspiracy to obstruct justice" which i'm pretty damn sure is a thing.  has this been discussed?  he obviously has a history of instructing his people to do illegal things for him - a bunch are already going to jail for it.

secondly, i know the metaphors with the pawn shops and how "receiving stolen goods" is a crime, but receiving stolen/hacked info used in a conspiracy to defraud the public to win an election (see clip below) is somehow not a crime, because the administration didn't technically "ask" or "organize" the front end of the theft.  but what if somehow they took his campaign "hey russia, can you please hack this for me..." and presumed he was legit asking, since within 5 hours, they starting hacking?

it's not really something, but it sure seems like it's not nothing.  if that makes sense.

There's a freedom of speech that does not extend to hot watches.

I don't completely disagree, but I'd like to see them establish more facts in public via hearings with Mueller & Barr before initiating impeachment proceedings.  I'm on board with getting there soon enough -- early summer, perhaps -- but the House majority needs to be careful and set things up to reveal the Senate as the festering coffee klatch of sycophantic shitbags they are, or at least as is reasonably possible.

Two unbelievable findings or lack of findings in Volume 1 of the Mueller Report:

1.  Papadopolus told NO ONE in the Trump campaign that Russia had Hillary’s emails.

2.  J.D. Gordon completely took it upon himself to change the GOP platform language to be more pro Russia because he FELT it would have better synergy with Trump’s campaign messaging.

I've long maintained that Mueller's ongoing prosecutions, which are now under the purview of EDNY, SDNY, EDVA, DC US Atty, etc. will have to penetrate GOP Congress/RNC on joint corruption with Trump before a sufficient sense of urgency is generated to make Senate GOP budge.  Dems can't control that, but waiting for it in the near term as they bring in Barr then Mueller, and gain access to the unredacted report makes a lot of sense

Speaking of urgency, wonder what the timeline is on this from Michael Cohen and his Atty:

Spoiler

Things could snowball pretty damn quickly going forward.  Dems are not being unwise to pace themselves right now.

Just to name a few.  The report establishes both collusion and obstruction, just not criminality based on the collusion.  Dems should move to impeach quickly, but won't because they are pussies.

right, of course.  and use of the word "war" was intentional, but my question was probably more rhetorical.

my real question is - if the russians attacked us (which they did) and trump was not involved (which he keeps claiming) then why isn't he screaming bloody murder about all the retribution he's going to get?  why aren't we making threats?  maybe we are doing the normal amount of counter-intelligence and spying and who the f knows, but you'd think at least for appearances, our president (who just got "fully exonerated") would be making big blowhard speeches while waving his fist saying "they won't fucking get away with this!"  i mean shit, that's what i'd do.  it would fire the fuck up out of his base and everyone else who's been trained to hate russia for decades.

if you were a staunch republican, and you believed every word out of his mouth, wouldn't you be screaming for retribution?

I'm pretty sure I understand why Trump isn't furious at Russia.  Putin's meddling helped Trump win the White House; even if no one from Trump's camp was involved, they probably knew and definitely benefitted.  And Trump admires Putin and is dumb enough to think it's mutual.  He's not pissed at Putin because in his mind that's his buddy and his business partner.  Part of why Trump won't release his tax returns is because they'll show gains from hedge funds that are most certainly profitting in Russia.  And Trump has probably laundered money for Russian oligarchs who are loyal to Putin.  Etc.  He's not mad at Putin because he can't be and he doesn't want to be anyway.

As for why isn't the average Republican pissed off at Russia?  Because Fox News hasn't told them to be.

I agree.  I think they move swiftly but completely with a review of documents, Barr and Mueller testimony and follow through with subpoenas needed for testimony and documents.  These hearings should be public.  and then based on oversight committee hearing finding, pursue impeachment.  politically make the republicans say nope.  constitutionally, fulfill your duty.

And these long delays aren't helping the House Ds get the truth out there. Mueller should be testifying next week (week after at the latest).

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the idea, either, but then, I wasn't a fan of the direction the GOP has gone under Trump, either. They're kinda pissing all over the ideals of Family Values and Limited Government that used to be principles of the GOP. Instead, we have an adulterer and a liar whose goal is to become a dictator, and they're more than happy to have him.

Be careful what you wish for, Trump supporters... you may very well get it. And what happens when a Democrat becomes president and exercises the same powers you're so happy to see Trump expanding? Will you be so happy, then? Letting Congress limit the power of the President is a good thing.

i'm just saying for the sake of his narrative + political theater, it seems to make sense that he should act angry, but never has (at russia).  if this was a movie, and we had no other backstory, we would expect our president to address the nation and make threats.  he's been tweeting today, but why is he only tweeting about democrats and being framed?  why isn't he tweeting about the dirty russians and keeping our future elections safe and the future of democracy that we all hold so dear?

eh, maybe he will and i'll be happy to have some closure on the idiocy.
