Anybody who thinks the Democrats -- at least with current leaders and power brokers -- are going to save this country is very mistaken. Bernie, Hakeem, AOC, Schumer? They ain't got it.

The Democrats should have jumped all over Trump last night as soon as he walked in.

-- Booing him LOUDLY immediately as he is walking down the aisle.

-- LOUDLY interrupting his speech and calling out his lies.

-- Shouting this is fascism when he discusses mass deportation.

-- Heck, perhaps even some shouting of "No Seig Heil in America"  "No Seig Heil" ... "No Fuhrer" ... "No Fuhrer"

ANYTHING to break the silence of pretending there are still civilized rules in place.

Bu, no, they sat there like obedient house pets.

------

There are no fucking rules when you are in a political war trying to save a nation and even civilization ... from an obvious fanatical Fascist Evangelical regime bent upon destroying many sciences and armed with nukes.

Otherwise, don't even bother to attend the event -- a collective no show.

I don't have an exact plan ... but we need someone with some balls to say "NO! We ain't surrendering to fascists" and say it LOUDLY and REPEATED in the media. They must use the term FASCIST, not mere "extremist" or "far right." And organize and lead an elected resistance of some kind.

Of course, I am over the ledge and in abyss, so it is likely far too late.

Dems need to fight. I mean, literally fight. Shout him down as a fascist. When security comes to take you out…fight them. Make them hit you, and make you bleed. Be dragged out with blood on your face. Make them get violent in full view of the world.
Attack them. Physically. Show up at their offices. Assault them verbally, not pausing for breath. Terrorize them wherever they go.
We have a soft peacetime opposition party. We need a wartime party. We need Churchill, and some pipe-hittin’ motherfuckers.

I read your posts like 10 times before I realized you weren't saying censure. I was like, "but they did! DD is posting bullshit again!" :D

Bera - CA 6th, D+15

Case - HI 1, D+43 (!)

Costa - CA 21, D+5

Gillen - NY 4, D+2, R to D flip in 24.

Himes - CT 4, D+24

Houlahan - PA 6, D+12

Kaptur - OH 9th, D+.6

Moskowitz - FL 23, D+4

Perez - WA 3, D+3

Suzzoi- NY 3, D+3

Couple really close districts (One 2024 R to D flip), but a lot of unnecessary D on D violence here.

Who the fuck cares?

The punishment is having to listen to the censure resolution on the House floor. He didn’t have to walk naked through the streets of Kings Landing.

Let the Ds in the close districts represent their districts.

Are we better off without Manchin and Tester in the Senate?

I'm curous to see if Newsom's new take on trans athletes will work. My guess is it won't unless he goes fully on board with making the existence of trans people illegal.

It would only work if he plans to run as a Republican.

I don't know, it feels like the wedge shit like trans panic and "wokeness" is becoming a problem for some who traditionally lean left. I think it's gross that the entire country is literally going backwards on human rights, but here we are.

Anti-trans voters are not Democratic primary voters.

Curious how party leadership reserves their "hottest anger" for the few elected officials who understand what's going on and are responding accordingly.

Oh, I have (it's been a while).  Trust me, I know how to get punched pretty hard and bleed.  Hell, that's why I decided I didn't like fighting much as I matured: even when you "win," the other guy usually lands a few, and punches hurt.  Also, chicks hated it when dudes fought, and when I was out and about and tensions got high to where a fight was possible, I was also likely at a bar or somesuch trying to meet girls.

End up in fight with random dumbass vs. chat up the cute brunette with the button nose at the end of the bar?  No-brainer, man.

But what I'm suggesting is not exactly novel.  It's right out of the civil rights movement and Ghandi's nonviolent resistance.  Make the oppressor take offensive, brutal action against you in the light of day.  Those sorts of images turn the stomach of civilized people, or even people who like to think they're civilized.

Images like this changed the world.

If Republicans will not hold townhalls, Democrats with media in tow absolutely should hold them. This could be an especially effective tactic in Republican strongholds. I would hope the Democrats realize the value in these is not getting Democrats to talk rather Republican voters to air grievances together and organize efforts accordingly.

Shut the Government down on Friday or not?

This will likely be the last time in 2025 that Democratic votes in the Senate will be required to pass the CR.

The Democrats better give these people nothing. No support at all. They want to rule unconstitutionally without the rule of law? Well make them do it. Don't rush in to give them a fig leaf.

However, it is Chuck Schumer we are talking about so he will probably let a "rogue" senators cross over. Party discipline is only for those opposing Trump, not supporting him.

There are elected Democrats who I believe are working for the good of the Republic. Unlike Republicans, unless you have given up on the Constitution. Unfortunately, there are plenty of Democrats in the pocket of billionaires.

Tomorrow’s cloture vote is apparently rather critical. And,it is not surprising, but deeply disappointing, because the waters are muddying, to see that Shumer is arguing to approve cloture, To be fair, he argues that a government shutdown gives DOGE free reign, and that courts will close, and there will be no safeguards.

I, personally, don’t trust Shumer, and the Dems I do trust say that voting for cloture is what will free DOGE to completely kneecap our government. I know that any bipartisan vote that can be spinned as support of DOGE is devastating.

So, what am I missing? What say y’all? Is DOGE unaffected by a government shutdown? Are the courts?

Correct, Schumer is arguing that a shutdown would give Trump/Musk blanket powers to do whatever they want. SPecifically, kill the courts that are needed to check the power. His argument means that every CR that comes through the Dems will have to agree to pass, no matter what is in the CR. I don't see how it makes sense.

If Republicans wanted a shutdown so bad, what is stopping them from doing it on their own? Why would they even offer a CR? Are we really to believe they need to pass a faux CR because the publicity would be too bad to force a shutdown? The publicity is already terrible right now, so what is a little more?

“Killing” courts was not on my bingo card. A nod to acknowledge the nightmare fuel.

The Republicans needed votes for cloture. You'd think Democrats could get something out of that.

Oh well. Guess not.
