To finish out the term through 2022.  Georgia law says you have to have a special election to fill the rest of the term.  Unlike Perdue, whose term expired on January 3, 2021, as no one was elected and certified as the winner of the race (bc of the run-off).
She's still the placeholder until the results are certified - either she has been elected to finish the term or she has lost and Warnock has been elected to finish the term.

so the bottom line is she's contesting the election that she was actually in. That is on brand for the Trump Republicans

Psh didn’t you listen to them - only the presidential result is “suspicious”

It all appears to be pretty similar to me.  In a campaign, getting elected is all that matters.  In governing, getting re-elected is all that matters.

I miss governance.

Oh yeah. She’s not the only one. See the comments from our new QAnon-loving representative.

Oh and the best part is that she has slammed the Republican governor who appointed her against Trump’s wishes (Trump wanted Doug Collins).

Festivus was two weeks ago dude.  TWO WEEKS!

I look at how quickly the Trump team is cobbling together this 'showdown in the senate', and I'm thinking...your whole playbook is based on Two Weeks.  And you guys are just throwing shit against the wall between Georgia, the Proud Boys, Hawley, Cruz, and few other rag-tag members of the Disappointing Dozen (apparently Magnificent Seven was already taken).......you knew you were gonna lose last summer.  You really knew you were losing in November.  And that funny exercise called the Electoral College only clinched the deal.

I know publicly you had to put on a different facade to keep grifting and getting your base riled up.  But you didn't have the two days you're using this week, you didn't have the two weeks you always disclaim, you had like two full quarters to get your shit together.  And the best you have is whether or not Mike Pence can get a hall pass from mother to hang out in the Capitol tomorrow after 5:00p to hear the results of the two-chamber debate on certification despite the fact that Congresswoman Boebert is walking around in there in her tight pants, waving that Colorado sass around in his face.  You're like me in college Trump, you're scrambling before the final exam in the last two days not realizing you had two months to prepare.  Meanwhile, Biden is the guy walking into class saying, "You know...I only need a 37 on this exam to make an A in the class."  Which would make him a total fucking nerd that we'd throw a beer on later, but he's also banging the teacher and drives a Z28...so he's kinda cool too.

For the rest of my life, whenever I hear/read, "Many calls.  Many meetings"...I'll never think, "Oh that guy must be busy, a real go-getter."  I'll realize that this guy is just one of those guys trying to look busy like my ex-business partner or Donald Trump.  Like Kevin Spacey says in "The Big Kahuna" (a movie I make every employee of mine who goes out on the road on behalf of our firm watch before their first conference/fundraising trip)....."Because when you know what you're doing, it doesn't look like you're trying to look like you know what you're doing.  It's the people who're trying to look busy...who think they have us all fooled...they're the ones full of shit."  It was a charming scene in a wonderful little film that I think about often for 20 years...and know it's the bane of my fucking nation.  Thanks Commender Dickweed.

The Hoary Canards = today's great punk band name.

To be fair, that only seeks "disbarment" from practice before the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

It's going to be up to the respective state bars to "disbar disbar" them.

Unless multiple courts from multiple jurisdictions make similar sanctions orders and referrals, I don't think disbarment is on the table for most of these people.

I strongly suspect that Lin Wood will be suspended from the practice of law on disability grounds soon, these lawsuits being evidence of the disability, rather than the source of the sanction itself.

that could be hot on the right woman in the right underwear.  Keep on Fuckin'...I mean Keep on Truckin'

How is the Trump campaign gonna marry the fact that most Georgia GOP voters rejected him but went with the two Senators all in the span of 2 months?

Trump wouldn't completely misrepresent the details of a private conversation, would he? He hasn't been caught doing that since [checks notes] two days ago.

It would be funny as shit if Pence recorded the conversation on his phone and it was leaked.

One would think that if there's anything that anybody should have learned in the last four years, it's that all calls with Donald Trump must be recorded.

Sounds like the traitors decided their plan is only to challenge 3 states:
Cruz will challenge Arizona
Hawley will challenge Pennsylvania
Loeffler will challenge Georgia
Cruz said he will not challenge any other states.  Ron Johnson will probably challenge Wisconsin.
I hope Ms. Loeffler is still planning on challenging Georgia's certified votes. I know the irony will be lost on every Trump supporter after last night's election results where she lost, yet hasn't conceded because she wants to wait until all the votes have been counted.

I mean, she's not a Senator at the moment, right? Her term expired on Jan 3rd.

When your conservative ideology is so out of touch with the majority of voters that you lose the presidential and two senate elections in GEORGIA in the same election cycle, you’ve got worse problems than the threat of being primaried.

No, I think he is just trying to make sure that any 2024 competitor is not viewed as being the leader on this day. Hawley knows this has no chance so he just needs people who vote in primaries to think he was the one that lead the way. Even if Pence makes some sort of statement that he can run on in 24, Hawley wants everyone to know he is not relevant today.

There's no crying today.  Man up, we got nation shit needs doin' today!

As C-SPAN's Steve Scully told me today after I dare question whether their production infrastructure can possibly sustain what is going to be the most C-SPAN viewers in the history of his little network, "With all due respect asshole, I believe this is going to be our finest hour."

Seriously, I don't want to hear/read any network bias (even CNN) while this proceeding takes place.  I want C-SPAN grainy cameras and their 1980's digital counter on the bottom letting me know what's what.

The Vice President's role in this is largely ceremonial.  The Dotard is a complete fucking moron and has obviously never had a civics lesson in his fucking life.

Yep.

I heard Amy Klobochar describe his role perfectly - he’s a presider not a decider.

The Hoary Canards = today's great punk band name.

The one thing that bugs me about this motion is that they only attacked the Ramsland declaration.  They should have added on the "Spyder" declaration (I know that was in it) and the Terpsiwhore declaration (which might not have been in it).

To me, attempting to foist off anonymous declarations of dubious characters is worse than a few errors, even if egregious, in one declaration.  It certainly points to a pattern and practice of lack of candor with the court.
