I don't get it.  The contradiction in terms aside, how do they know who is pregnant and who is not and can even possess/order/consume the drug itself?  My politics aside, and even for the Deep South, I honestly don't understand how this can be implemented.  Da fuh?

Edit.  I got it.  They purposely wrote it like this so you have to provide proof of pregnancy (OTC test, OBGYN report, etc.).  Then you go in and have to provide that proof to get the drug.  Then at best, you're on some kinda "watch list", at worst you get arrested and made to carry baby to term.  Got it.  Took me a minute.  Seemed moronic at first blush, but looking at the language now, this is a long-game play.

Isn’t supervision and provision of the delivery of mail the exclusively within the purview of the federal government? Seems like that is pretty explicitly laid out in the constitution

Abortion question for Texas:

My brother has a 10 yo down syndrome daughter who is physically fully functional (even knows how to swim quite well), but alas is still not potty trained and seems like will never advance past her current grasp of things in language, communication, and behavior.

Since she is getting to "that age", the discussion has come up as to how to deal with her not getting prego in a few years.

Pretty much every form of birth control is out for some obvious reasons. She even has to be put under for routine teeth cleaning. So sterilization was also mentioned.

The discussion also included some what if scenarios imcluding her actually getting pregnant, let's say at a very early teen age.

Surly experts, run me down the options in Texas. My loose understanding of current Texas law leads me to believe that abortion would be out.

I realize there are pills and what-not, but I am going to assume that in this scenario, it would be too late for that given the individual.

Also assume a healthy normal fetus.

They can certainly ignore the cease-and-desist letters.  The consequences?  No idea.

IIRC it's largely out of his hands. I think there is a board and election and some shit. I dunno, but my understanding is it's not just a wave of a pen kind of thing. like a lot of shit trump ruined, his presidency was the perfect storm of caught-off-guard electorate and timing of being able to appoint some thorns in the side of government. his puppetmasters definitely got what they wanted out his first term. no reason they should think they won't get everything the second time.

We don't have a popular initiative, referendum, or recall in Texas because it's just anarchy if the citizens get to decide issues

It’s extremely backwards and weird because Texas has always been about the individual or it’s all on you. No government help. Don’t ask anyone to support you or feel bad for you.  I have mine, fuck you.

from a political perspective, Texas tries to crush the individual by voter suppression, no initiatives/ referendums, extreme gerrymandering, and every decision is made by the state legislature which is definitely not made up of our best and brightest ( far far from it).

They have their 7-9 million voting republican base and they want you to feel discouraged to vote, come in and shut up,accept republican rule for life.

Man....Bonevac turned into a huge POS.  I had him as my prof 30+ years ago.  And then got to know him through various other circles, although we haven't seen much of each other the last decade+.  But jesus, he went completely off the deep end.

at this point can they even articulate the life they are supposedly protecting?

If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.

It's not about abortion.  It never was.

Ban abortion.  Ban contraception.  Eliminate "no fault" divorce.  See where we're going?  You have to get pregnant, stay pregnant, and be locked into a marriage no matter how shitty it is.

The conservative movement is about enslaving women.  Always has been.  "A Handmaid's Tale" is an aspiration to them, not a cautionary tale.

Yeah, the party of “individual liberty” wants to force you to stay married to someone you don’t want to be married to.
