So, what did you buy online while drunk?

I've cut down on my drinking quite a bit in the last couple of months, but the other night I drank a bottle of wine and bid on two Griswold 12's (not one, but TWO).

I've been outbid on both of them. That's what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving day.

I got of work one morning after working the night shift and sat out on the the porch watching the sun rise while sipping tequila. A couple hours later I had ordered a single shot bolt action .50 BMG upper reciever. Sometimes I miss being childless and single and having the ability to do stuff like that.

Bought a boat while drunk - that was one of the last straws for my wife and helped lead to my sobriety, but that was a huge fuckup..... online auction purchase, no inspection, had to pay for it to be hauled 1200 miles on a new trailer I also had to buy.

Not my finest hour.

This fits the thread perfectly.  I'm glad that it led to better things.

Usually plane tickets.

That's my go-to.  You really, really gotta get it together and look closely at those flight dates I've learned.

I buy lots of stuff or spend money online while drunk.  Most of it I don't regret.  I bought tickets to the Texas LSU game (from a surly poster) and planned the whole trip while hammered at a bar.  Then about 6 months ago during Covid lockdowns I bought my car after a drinking all day and searching on auto trader.  I already had a car that I don't drive so there was really zero reason to buy another that I don't drive...  In hindsight I'm glad for both examples.

In the next few days I'll get a good load on & then order the stuff my wife has put on her Amazon wish list for Xmas. Then, while drinking more, I'll search for other random things I think/hope/know she'll love & be surprised by.

While drunk? Years ago I'd get a wine buzz, go on eBay, and buy old Mexican silver coins. I had memorized all the exact weights of each type in grams, calculated that against the spot price of silver, and would lay down these Forrest-Gump-playing-ping-pong level-of-precision bids.

Then I realized I was never going to get to go to 1950s Mexico, so I slacked off.

Once, cold sober, I sold a car for a handle of Bourbon.

Maybe you need to drink more?

Can someone explain the Griswold to me?  $800 for a cast iron skillet?

It's kind of the equivalent of a vintage Corvette if you like to cook.  From what I'm told certain foods really should be cooked on cast iron above all else, including the grill.  I don't know if that's true or not, but I can tell you I don't want to eat any more of my wife's tasteless hamburgers (begun burger wars at Chez Bullneck, have they).

Griswolds are supposed to be great, but $800? I looked at them a bit last Christmas and it seemed like they were in the $80-$100 range. Maybe that's why I kept getting outbid.

I bought a Field Company instead...which was overpriced, but awesome.

I wasn't bidding $800.  😃  I bid $100 on one and $130 on another.  But the nicer restored ones (of decent size) seem to go in the $300 range (buy it now, anyway).

Then I notice they make these other specialty pans for cooking eggs and griddles for pancakes.

The whole thing turns into an obsession.  Need a spatula?

I ended up doing a buy-it-now for a Lodge 12" pan; coincidentally the guy in the NYTimes video looks like he's using a Lodge.

Gambling don’t count, right? Cause I’ve “bought” my share of “sure fire gonna win” that were just dumb dumb dumb.

not online but during 2003-2006 I more than once got wasted while out in the city, stumbled black out drunk by a porn shop on the way home, and woke up with xxx dvds.

My wife and I got hammered before and during a home game against OSU around 2014, then instead of going home we ubered to a Mattress Firm and bought a Temperpedic bed (our old mattress sucked and my wife had been shopping for weeks). Got a good price on the mattress but got suckered into an adjustable base with features we rarely use. About 10:30pm that night I started sobering up and uttered “what have we done?!”

Lego Millennium Falcon. Bought it drunk, put it together drunk, then destroyed it drunk while flying it around the house chasing the dog making "pew pew pew" sounds.

Two drones that have never flown.

Usually put in my instacart food and booze orders at the end of a drunken evening, and forget about them until they show up the next day.

I disagree. Tempurpedic sex is exhausting. I want some bounce back sometimes all the time.

Not meant as a humble brag but probably is CSB time.  I got a little too in the brown water during the first/middle part of Covid (changed that habit now, thank God).  Have been interested in ordering the new GT3 since it was mentioned.  Dealer hits me up about a month ago and let me know when it is time to place the order. Mentioned to the wife (no pics) that I was going to pull the trigger on it and put down the deposit.  Her response; "Babe, you paid the deposit in June".  Checked my email/texts...sure enough, managed to complete an entire form with the deposit back in June...No recollection.  Good part is my drunk mind made the same decision as my sober mind, lol.
