Just Desantis respecting the sanctity of life...

Quote

The first, which he suggested during an appearance before the Florida Sheriffs Association, was to allow juries to sentence someone to die even if the jury vote is not unanimous. “Fine, have a supermajority,” DeSantis said, adding that executions should be permitted if “maybe eight out of 12 or something” of a jury’s members vote for the death penalty.

When it comes to bullshit culture wars, DeSantis is General Patton.

Governing by "shit I heard from my cousin on Facebook."

this is so utterly insane that i figured it was being somehow misrepresented or mischaracterized.  i went to the source to try and understand what possible pretext the athletic's association panel could possibly have had in recommending this or what type of nuance was attached to possibly justify such an obviously outrageous privacy violation...

couldn't find one.  i cannot believe how committed the state of florida is to trying to make the state of texas not look like the biggest collection of dumbfucks possible.

so once you have a consistent record of a young woman's menstrual cycle, you can also use the "rhythm method" (or the height of reproductive science) to figure out when she's ovulating, and when she's able to have sex with very little chance of pregnancy.  Hmmmm, that's the kind of information she and her family want out there in a loosely-controlled database run by the lowest bidder in Ocala, FL so she can play JV tennis?  But yeah, it's the librarian letting them read a book a girl with two dads that's the groomer in all this, right?

Taking bets on when this comes to Texas?  Maybe not this session but certainly by the next one?  Dan Patrick will not stand for other people getting to know whats going on in children's underwear...that's his deal!

Yeah, no chance Abbott and our psycho’s don’t try to copy this.

I'm expecting Abbott and the legislature to fuck around and do this stuff, because Greg is so fucking desperate to do something beyond being Governor.

Glad to see y'all got the joke setup for D as in David.  Just straight showbiz right down the middle.

But yes, aside from "running", he's only in this next round for Court of Appeals or cabinet.  The days of 68 year olds like Abbott would be in 2026 when the next seat opens up to SCOTUS are over.  Either 5th Circuit or DC Circuit, or cabinet positions such as: Atty. General, Interior, Commerce, Energy, or Homeland.  Slight possibility he'd go for Cruz's seat if Cruz gets that Texas Cabinet position instead.  He can basically appoint himself in 2025 to the Seat if Cruz gets the nod from a GOP POTUS.  Of course making Dan Patrick our Governor.

Posted

Yeah, I just thought through that whole scenario through.  Oh fuck.  Cruz, being younger, becomes a more viable nominee for SCOTUS or Cabinet.  Abbott appoints himself to to fill that seat.  So now you still have Cornyn and Abbott, Cruz is now even possibly more powerful.  Dan Patrick is now our higher-visibility Governor.  And Briscoe Cain is his appointment to fill the Lt Gov. spot until a special election is held.

Holy fucking shit.

You know what?  I'm totally fine with how it's setup right now.  Forget I said anything.

He’s just lost and flapping in the wind like a torn up Trump 2020 flag.  Trump will insist on a debate just so he can look down on him and call him ‘Lil Ronnie’ over and over again.

worse voice: ron, gym, or ben?

I’m not sure to which Ben you’re referring. Shapiro? I don’t know if I’ve heard his voice. Carson would be up there. Jim Jordan is capable of speaking calmly and when he does he can sound like a normal person. It’s when he’s in bullshit mode that he gets hyper and starts screaming a.mile-a-minute. And he spends a lot of his time spewing bullshit.

I’d probably have to go with DeSantis. But is he any worse than Mike Pence? Nobody is worse than Trump. Whether it’s sleepy Trump reading someone else’s prepared speech from the teleprompter, unhinged Trump ranting and raving off the cuff, or even just speaking conversationally. Just the sound of his voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

Others that are really painful to listen to are Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ted Cruz. Lindsey Graham probably deserves mention. There’s Rudy Giuliani. I don’t think I’ve heard him speak since his confirmation hearings but how about Brett Kavanaugh? He also comes with an exceptionally punchable face. Same goes for Tucker Carlson.

It’s the ole ‘keep it simple, stupid’.  As mentioned above that’s too big a word for his dumbfuck supporters.

Probably too big of a word for his supporters.
Trump blundered trying to say "yesterday" multiple times and on tape said "that's a hard word for me." No chance he can adlib "desanctimonious" during a debate or rally.

Yep.  It would be Little Ronny, then a seamless transition into a diatribe about how great a doctor Ronny Jackson is and how amazing his own health is…

huge dick move

It really is - he's trying to make sure he gets some of that sweet, sweet Houston and Dallas GOP cash committed to his campaign before Abbott does, and given that Abbott is not flying around doing the same, DeSantis comes out on top.

I'd make a joke about him ignoring Niki/South Carolina because he doesn't think she's a contender, but this isn't about cleaning the board, but instead about building that donor list.

Very true, wasn't like they asked Abbott to be the headliner and for DeSantis to make an appearance.

Some interesting 2nd line acts gonna be at those Texas events though.  Also, couldn't help but notice our former Dr. Beeper is one of the co-host donors.  Well done.

This is fucking insanity. How could that requirement possibly withstand a legal challenge? Frankly I’d move rather than sue, but any parent who gives that information to anyone but their child’s doctor is a moron

With all of the despicable shit Desantis is doing in Florida, I don’t understand why so many people think he’d be viable in a general election.

He has to do despicable shit in order to be palpable to the deplorables. It's the Dotard Paradox.

We may be a semi literate electorate who knows more about pop culture than politics, but I don’t believe the majority will co-sign book bans, the unlawful jailing of certain kinds of voters, liberalizing capital punishment laws, restrictions on free speech and a host of other civil rights restrictions. But then, maybe so.

All laughs and grins until Ron sells them to Matt Gaetz's PAC to bankroll DeSantis' own POTUS run.
