Bold move Meatball.  Only thing old Floridians love more than enforcing condominium association rules is good insurance coverage (health, hurricane, whatever kinda auto coverage enables their 89yo ass to wear ski goggles and drive a 7000 pound '93 Grand Marquis, etc.).

You know you're only 6 months into a 4 year term, right?  This is only going to get worse for you.  And you don't really have a whole lotta Democrats in higher office there to blame it on.

But it's okay Sunshine State old-timers, Gov. DeSantis is on top of it.  After forecasting this type of market turmoil, his former Insurance Commissioner resigned.  And who did DeSantis appoint in his place to see them through these rough waters?  You guessed it...Michael Yaworksy!  And what did Yaworsky do before taking over the volatile Florida insurance regulatory oversight?  Why he ran the Florida Gaming Control Commission-casinos, slots, OTB, video card games, etc.  Exactly the kind of experience you want ensuring old people get the right coverage from the right carriers at the right prices in the right situations.

If we're living in a simulation, I'm 90% sure the fucking input port is fucking Florida.

It's already killing off coral reefs.  If it keeps up, a lot of the scuba diving and charter companies will go under, pun intended.

With those water temps already hitting 97 degrees, and projected to get worse, Florida is ripe for a massive storm strike.  Watch Ronnie beg for help when it happens.  Fuck DeSantis and fuck Florida.

Most sea level rise is from the expansion of water as it warms up. About half the rise in sea levels the last 25 years is due to just the increasing water temperatures. In the worst case, with all glaciers melted, it is estimated it will be the cause about 75-80% of sea level rise due to the increased global temps, if that comes to pass.  The rise in sea level makes flooding more common in FL   because the limestone bedrock  it sits on acts like a sponge so that the water table rises with the ocean's rise.  This causes problems with sewage systems and clean water supplies. Flooding can happen on sunny days due to tidal forces there.  Storm surges cause more damage. This is why nobody wants to insure in FL. That state is screwed within a decade or two, if not sooner, and that is why insurance companies are bailing.

Here is a nice, fairly short summary of Florida's issues. Surprisingly, Texas has seen sea levels rise 18 inches compared to 8 inches for FL since 1950 due to sinking land. Here are the issues from it that Texas faces.  Sea level rise on the west coast is only 3 inches because the land there is actually rising due to tectonics.

I never fully believed melting ice could lead to the catastrophic rise but expanding water I can. I never had seen this analysis thank you. I mean fuck all of it but thank you for sharing.

I don’t know which of those categories this falls under, but I think a lot of folks might not be deniers at this point, but have a short-sided selfish view of the world and think that because nothing catastrophic will happen in their lifetimes, why bother.

Morons, then.  Since both Texas and Florida have governments that seem hell bent on denying it (they fall in the first category), and Texas and Florida voters seem to want others to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, the next fucking climate caused crisis in either of those states should result in the federal government telling them to pull themselves by their bootstraps.  Fuck it.

Al Gore made a movie about global warming.
Al Gore is a Democrat.
They vote Republican.
Therefore Al Gore is wrong.

I watched it again during the lockdown. It still holds up. The funny thing is you’ll find a lot of Republicans who will tell you that it’s been thoroughly debunked despite the fact that none of them have ever watched it.

The sad fact is that during the late 1990s, there wasn't much of a gap between Republicans and Democrats on climate change. Now, fewer Republicans than ever recognize that it's happening and is a threat and that humans are to blame.
