While a possible record-breaking hurricane is about to hit Florida, let's not forget the important things like it is illegal to mention global warming in Florida school books. I'm sure the Florida Legislature will pass a bill saying hurricane's are Jesus' way of punishing us for allowing gays to marry.

“To keep it simple for the State of Florida: it’s the First Amendment, stupid.”

That’s what a federal judge wrote Thursday as he sided with local TV stations in an extraordinary dispute over a pro-abortion rights television ad.

Chief U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker of the Northern District of Florida granted a temporary restraining order against Florida’s surgeon general after the state health department threatened to bring criminal charges against broadcasters airing the ad.

all schools have shitty grads .....

During today's press conference @GovRonDeSantis   demanded the power to run his own deportation system where he can catch Haitians and others "and we can have our guys just take them back to Haiti or Bahamas or wherever they're coming from - right on the spot." @CBSMiami

Setting aside the legality of what he is saying, it is statements like this that have made many legislators nervous. They argue that in his eagerness to keep the spotlight on himself and remain relevant he could overstep his role as Governor and undermine what Trump is doing.

I have also had several Republicans start using words like dictator and tyrant in describing DeSantis.
For six years, they say, DeSantis did nothing to build a relationship with them. In fact, he did the opposite, punishing and belittling any legislator who didn't obey him.

All of that anger is now bubbling up and the fight over the immigration bill is likely just the beginning.

Reminds me of when I found out a great great uncle had been a senator in the late 1800s/early 1900s. I was somewhat puffed up with my own non-achievement by this connection. Eventually I ran across a book of his speeches. The first one I saw was where he was arguing that poor children should not be forced to attend school when they could be of more use working in the fields.

I put the book back up.

Congrats, I guess, to anybody who is catching up to 1906 Alabama.

I didn’t read the proposal but I am 99% sure there is a clause buried in there lowering age of consent to 12yrs.

That's why the law is being changed so 14 year olds can work overnight. When the younger ages have to go home, they can clock in.

That's supposed to be sarcasm, but alas, it's Florida so....
