Not sure where this fits, but Kentucky doesn't believe in the Don't Say Gay law.

As you can see here, at least one school wants to make sure it's students talk to their friends about being gay.  And how it's awful and they are wrong.

Every time I start thinking that maybe Jesus wasn't such a bad guy, I think of all the people that call Jesus a friend and am reminded why I want nothing to do with Jesus or them.

I call Jesus a friend. If my children were subjected to that direction, I’d yank them from that school or church or whatever. That’s bullshit.

And I’m not defending it, but it is a private school. For the record my kids go to a public school and our school district (Highland Park) has to withstand groups trying to infiltrate the school board to introduce more God into our schools. My friends and I - all church-going WASPs - are adamantly opposed to this infiltration attempt and any introduction of God into a school curriculum.

The lawsuit filed by the Congregation L'Dor Va-Dor of Boynton Beach contends the law that takes effect July 1 violates Jewish teachings, which state abortion "is required if necessary to protect the health, mental or physical well-being of the woman" and for other reasons.

Quote

"As such, the act prohibits Jewish women from practicing their faith free of government intrusion and this violates their privacy rights and religious freedom," says the lawsuit, filed Friday in Leon County Circuit Court.

Every state has placed an order with the federal government to ensure coronavirus vaccines for young children are delivered as soon as regulators authorize their use — except for one. Florida has yet to request delivery of COVID-19 pediatric vaccines for children under 5, missing yesterday’s deadline for pre-orders and guaranteeing a delay in access for parents across the state, according to two U.S. government sources. All other 49 states placed pre-orders, which will be delivered in two tranches beginning as early as Monday to thousands of pediatrician’s offices, children’s hospitals, pharmacies and health centers across the country. Those facilities in Florida will not have access during this time and will remain without supply until Florida places an order.

Hey so now Orange County is ordering teachers with same sex spouses to not have pictures of their spouses displayed or mention them. Rainbow clothing also banned.

So all you dipshits who enable these fascist bigot fuckfaces with your bleating about how it’s just about stopping explicit sex discussions and not about oppressing and marginalizing people and hate can literally eat actual shit. You cuntrags supporting these people are directly driving more teens to suicide just because of ignorance and intolerance. Congratulations on being gullible naive tools for murdering kids you piles of dogshit.

they weren't gullible naive tools.  they were lying.

Isn’t that discrimination based on sexual orientation?   I guess they expect scotus to rubber stamp/overturn everything they don’t like?  Will scotus like having no agency?

Nothing in law at a federal level prevents discrimination based on sexual orientation.  Most states have not passed such a law either.

Super simple answer.  Way too many Republicans in Congress.

Right now, today, I could get fired from my job because my employer decided he didn't want to have any gays on staff.  That would be legal.  You don't have to go back that far in our history to see when our government used to work their ass off to root out all the gays working for the feds and fire them when they found them.  Didn't matter if they were an astrophysicist or a janitor or an FBI agent, either.  Out the door they went.  It's the reason so many people are still today in the closet at work.  It's why I was in the closet at work until my husband was safely on a green card and couldn't be deported because of our relationship.

There's a mental calculus that all gay people who work for someone else have to go through, every day.  We have to come out over and over and over again, and we never know for sure, when we come out to the latest person, if everything will be fine or if it will change the way we are perceived.  It's fucking exhausting all by itself, and it's only exacerbated by the fact that our government not only won't protect us, but periodically decides to flat out target us.

I’m new to it and I’m already exhausted. Was shocked when my wife said “I’ve been having illegal sex most of my life” in response to Clarence Thomas’ threats. We’ve both been the employer for much of our adult lives so we don’t live the employee part but yeah, pull the rug out from under you type discrimination is not a novel concept here for the rainbow mafia.

Shit, I could get fired for putting a rainbow sticker that says 'Everyone is Welcome" in my classroom. It's nothing remotely close to what you're dealing with, but just another statement about the sad state of affairs.

DeSantis and Florida Republicans really put everything on a tee to be blasted. This is just absurd.

but DeSantis suggested budget cuts could be imminent if universities and colleges are found to be “indoctrinating” students.

“That’s not worth tax dollars and that’s not something that we’re going to be supporting moving forward,” the governor said.

Following up on this, I read a hard copy of this New Yorker article on a plane yesterday.  It was very long and well in-depth.  The summary -- aside from him being an absolute dick as a person -- is that Desantis is much smarter and more disciplined than Trump (shocker), but less personable and more aloof and socially awkward.  He still has nowhere near the god status of Trump among the Republican crowd, but if Trump decides against a run in 2024, I'd bet that the nomination easily goes to Desantis.

Edit:  Oh, and he's also very much the same political weather vane as Greg Abbott, always willing to bend his policy or rhetoric to feed the MAGA crowd.

It has been known and that's been our concern, dude.

Desantis seems to be being groomed (no pun intended) to be the heir apparent to GQP idiotdom.

The DNC should have been working on a succession plan to nominate their own Biden replacement for 2024 who can win, complete with whisper campaigns and whisper money and building hype and momentum in the back channels, but we seem okay with trying to ride Biden like the old gray horse until he collapses.

Anybody talking about Ron passing out government checks to families. How does this work when both Cubans and DeSantis are against Socialism?

https://news.yahoo.com/desantis-uses-federal-covid-19-150914873.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall

  • Thousands of Florida families will receive one-time checks for $450 per child starting this week.

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis announced he set aside $35.5 million of COVID-19 relief funds to send out the checks.

  • The stimulus is aimed at offsetting the costs of inflation, according to state officials.

Cuban-Americans in S Florida are also among the biggest users of Obamacare, so I'm not shocked.

That's funny I was told that the sole reason for America's inflation was because Joe Biden cut those stimulus checks (cards) and people refused to work for a fair wage.

So now DeSantis is going to fix that inflation by pumping more money into the system?
