Just looked it up. The Cure Bowl(what a name) payout is $573k. That's a joke. If a bowl game can't payout a million per team, they shouldn't be sanctioned.

College baseball has, in my opinion, by far the best playoff system of any sport.  Granted they don’t need a week of ice and rehab to play another game, and they don’t have to drag Walton and Lanier up/down the court for 48 minutes...so they can pod it out in a double elimination system capped by a fresh best-of-two to crown a winner.  However I have zero doubt that CC was the deserved winner of that CWS.

Yeah, it was a great series.

No Aggy got left out because their SEC schedule sucked this year. Of course if was "normal", they would not still be in the conversation

Who did tOSU beat? They played 6 games this year where their marquis wins were Indiana and Northwestern, both of which wouldn’t have been ranked if they played a full season. They didn’t play their rival. Take aggy out of the equation. Why wouldn’t Cincy get the nod? They played 3 more games than tOSU, who had an emergency meeting to change the rules in their favor. Not to mention, the Big 10 decided to delay their season until they were pressured not to with threats. That was their decision.

The teams were set before the season even started.

The discussion of expansion comes up every year in shaggy and workplaces across the country.

Do you go the way of txhsfb and have a separate bracket/champion for p5 and g5 teams? Make the season be 10 games, throw in a few out of conference games that don't affect your standings so we can still have marquee match ups? Maybe have 8 "districts" spread out across the country, the so called district champ and runner up make the playoffs?

The top 4 didn't change all season. Fuck this system.

I kind of wonder if the system should be that the committee chooses the two top teams. After that, you can't get a place if you've lost to one of the two top teams. If the two top teams have played against each other, they're still in. They can meet again in the finals.

I don't care about adding more teams to the playoff. To me, that just increases the chances of a fluke event keeping the best team from advancing. Football isn't like basketball.

College football is losing me a little every year that we're not good and some people around here want to just make colleege ball like the pros.

The fact that Note-R Dame and Clempson can play 3 times in the same year should tell you this is a messed up system.

Oh.....and the fact that Condoleezza Rice was once on the CFP committee should too.

The system is setup for the "yearly" preseason favorites to advance. Teams who are not in this category -- see A&M and Cincy have to accomplish something during the season the committee sees as worthy to overtake a sitting favorite.

Certainly the argument of punishing tOSU for their conferences decisions can be made, or that they didn't play as many games, but that's not about "are they one of the 4 best teams".

The teams are almost always set before the season's already started.  There are only 6-7 teams that even have a chance right now.

Next year will be #1 - Clemson, #2 - Alabama, #3 - Oklahoma, #4 - OSU (order might be different, but those are your teams)

The greatest gif I have ever seen was after the 2013 championship, LSUFreek made an elephant stampede through town where everyone was ND related. Sadly I cannot seem to find it anywhere on the internet which shocks me.

To be fair, The Cure hasn’t had any real hits since the 90s

ousux got better throughout the season.  That's not something we Texas fans are really used to.  If the ags had played them in week 1 or 2 they probably would have won.  If the ags played them right now, sooners would beat them pretty handily.  Turns out, good coaching matters.

Nah the aggy could barely score against Venderbilt

I don’t get it.  If other bowls were locked into taking teams with losing records, what’s that got to do with the Independence Bowl?

The Independence Bowl was cancelled this evening.

Army West Point released the following statement after the cancellation was announced:

“These young men haven’t quit all year and we surely won’t quit now. They deserve better. Period. They have earned an opportunity to get 10 wins and, as we have all year, we will continue to fight to get them that opportunity. We want to thank the all the constituents at the Independence Bowl for their invitation and hospitality as we were looking forward to our trip to the City of Shreveport.”
— Army West Point Athletic Director Mike Buddie
