That line will come down

Why?  Ohio State played two good but not elite teams in their demi-schedule.  One came down to the final drive and another was a slug fest for 3 quarters.  The only times Clemson had any trouble with anybody was when their future overall No 1 pick did not play.

OSU has the second most talented roster in the playoffs, they're not nearly as bad as they have looked. I think they have suffered greatly from the short schedule and being unable to gel as a team with players out for covid. Maybe that will be too much for them to overcome, but they have more than enough talent to beat Clemson and Bama, they just need to put it together for 2 games.

How’s y’all’s pass rush this year? Fields has been god awful under pressure.

Not like it was in 18 when Lawrence won it as a freshman, but significantly better than last year. The lack of a pass rush last year really showed in the playoffs

Yeah, that’s what I was remembering. Fields looked great that game because he had clean pockets, but he really has been absolutely terrible under pressure. If y’all can pressure him, you’ll win easy. If you chat, it’s probably more down to the wire, but I still like your chances there.

Our defensive backfield is by far our weakest unit, and that won't change this year. We gotta scheme around it, or Lawrence is gonna carve us up. I like our running game's chances. As good as Venables's DL's always are, this one is down a bit. And our OL has played well the last 2 games.

Clemson is going to cover with ease. The line is only what it is because of the Ohio State name. Expect it to be close for the first quarter or so as Ohio State is amped and out to prove they belong as people doubt them for only playing five or six games or whatever. But they’re not stopping Lawrence and Etienne, while Clemson gets enough stops to win handily.

Here's some things to look out for tonight:

1. Expect Ohio St to aggressively attack Clemson downfield in the first half. Clemson safety Nolan Turner will miss the first half because of targeting against ND. Turner is Clemson's most experienced DB and the field general of Clemson's secondary. Expect Ohio State to try to isolate Turner's replacement in coverage with Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

2. Watch Clemson WRs vs. Ohio St DBs if you want an early indication of who will win this game. Both units have dropped off since last year. Clemson lost Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross. Ohio St lost Okudah, Damon Arnette and Jordan Fuller. Since Ohio St's front 7 is so good, Clemson will have to win in the passing game in order to open up the rest of the offense.

3. Clemson's secondary is great on paper. But in addition to missing Turner in the first half, they are missing AJ Terrell, Isaiah Simmons, and Tanner Muse from last year's secondary. Clemson also did not play the only other elite passsing attack in the ACC, North Carolina. Whether Clemson's secondary is as good as their stats suggest is an open question.

The average recruiting rankings favor Ohio State just slightly.  I was surprised to see that.

Clemson tends to fill the back third of their class with fairly unheralded dudes. Of course, they can evaluate and coach so well those guys tend to waaaay overperform their rankings.

Yeah the secondary is not as good, not even close. Kendrick is pretty good, but not Terrell or Mullen level. Booth is a stud in the making, but he's been hurt the last few weeks. The possible saving grace is the DL is much better and that unit's ability/inability to get pressure will be huge

If you can get Fields to wilt like Northwestern did, you should have the horses to finish the job.

Zach Harrison, Master Teague, Tyler Friday and Harry Miller will not play, because of Plague contact tracing.  Sounds like we're following B1G Plague procedures yet.  Which is bullshit.

You beat me to it. But Teague is out because of injury. I actually think Miyan Williams will be an improvement. Teague was terrible against Clemson after Dobbins was injured in last year's game.

Clemson missing Tanner Muse is like us missing Dylan Haines. Addition by subtraction
