That was a perfect tackle. That's how tackles are made. You don't fucking throw your head back to make a tackle. The targeting to the head I totally get. But to the body? Fuck that.

Hmm. Perhaps Dabo should've spent less time whining about Ohio State getting in by playing less games and more time gameplanning on how to beat them.

Hit him with crown of helmet. Used to be called spearing. It’s been illegal for 40+ years

That was not spearing. Jesus. Not even close. He led with his shoulder and Fields twisted into the hit.

Please tell me how that's "clear targeting". What did 47 do that he shouldn't have done? Try to make a play on the ball carrier?

It’s not targeting.  It was technically  spearing, but would never be called in real time.  Replay sucks.

Clearly most the posters don’t understand why it’s targeting and that in this case it’s not about the hit fields took...it’s about skalski lowering his head to initiate forcible contact endangering himself, from concussion or neck compression/fracture

Fields fucking twisted right into his fucking helmet, if he didn't he would have got a shoulder in the gut. fucking ridiculous.

he's trying to hit him with the shoulder and Fields turns at the last millisecond.  that happens ALL the time on plays in the game.  it doesn't happen in the open field.

if you are trying to hit someone low you are going to lower your head.  Its impossible not to.  the rule is such shit and puts the defender in an impossible position.

on 3rd down and within 2 yards of the line to gain? Nah

It isn't worth it. There is a whole other half plus half this quarter left. Selling out for a 1st down at this junction of the game is not worth the risk. He was in pain after making that simple pass he just did. He's a tough sob to even go back out there. But that was way too wreckless. He paid the price.

Look at the reverse view. Crown of helmet is first thing that contacts Fields. I have treated 3 players for fracture dislocations after tackles like that. 2 were permanent quads one recovered
