So basically... the team from the "line of scrimmage league" didn't run the ball as often as the team from the "7 on 7 league". I guess that's why they have taken so many wide receivers, huh?

Statistically there is very little difference in the QB running workload.  Sam had 164 carries out of 1045 offensive snaps or 15.7%.  Mond had 149 carries in 980 snaps or 15.2%.  Sam scored 16 TDs rushing vs 7 for Mond.  Tom Herman could have fixed the problem entirely by calling fewer TD runs from Sam.  Or Herman could have fixed the problem and then some by matching aggy in failing to make the conference championship.  Think about the "system" bragging rights that would have produced!

To be fair Jimbo didn't intend to give his QBs that many carries.  Mond just got sacked a bunch.  34 sacks in 13 games vs 26 for Sam in 14 games.

I believe a poster on here has worked with The List Eater. He said she worked for one of the Big Four in Houston.

10-4. Will research and get back with the group. Last I saw she was a teacher but perhaps I found incorrect information.

She is certainly not at my firm.

Every answer is hedged but he talks so fast and in circles that the audience just takes what they want to hear and allows them to paint him as what they are selling. When it goes bad, Jimbo won't change but they'll hear the wv hillbilly  & same hedging to roast him out of town.

That just sounds so fundamentally true, that you can easily get sucked into it and forget the other reality, the one that applies so thoroughly to life as an aggy:

Consistency is only a virtue if you are not basically a permanent fuck up.

Holy shit, Howell used to cover Texas and he's a fucking idiot still.

No, dipshit. Texas started going after Eaton when all the other CBs fell off the board and Ringo started trending hard to Georgia. If Rogers had picked Texas, the CB board would have been full. Same with Alford and Jerrin Thompson, both were behind Ransom, Washington, and Thompson Jr. Somehow all 3 of those guys who most considered Texas leans at one point in time decided on other places.

Still, should Texas end up with Crawford, Jerrin, Alford, and Eaton it would be a very good class. It also gives Texas 2 decent developmental guys, since the CB position is loaded currently with 5 underclassmen.

I generally find the way this thread talks about the QB/RB run thing really annoying, but the first paragraph here is right.

Aggies obviously butcher the whole thing, but the point is that Sam had 16/24 rushing TDs last year. He had three times as many as Ingram and Watson combined. It’s not about carries or yards.

The teams we’re fighting for top RBs are talking to them about Heismans and the NFL draft and then pointing out a truth about Herman: a fundamental part of his offensive philosophy is running the QB with the RB as a lead blocker in order to create a numbers advantage. In important moments, that’s Herman’s bread and butter. He’s not going to change that for recruiting. He’ll call whatever plays give us the best chance to put points on the board. For now that means RBs are more likely to block than to get a designed run in short distance and goal line situations

As our OL and RB talent improves, the problem will go away but until then that pitch will be used against us. It’s an easy enough pitch to counter. Bijan shows they can use Zeke Elliot effectively. Herman also knows that he needs to protect Sam so I expect RB red zone carries to go up in non-important games. (Side note: using RPOs instead of zone reads is also a smart adjustment.) But until we see better production from RBs we’re going to hear about it.

Also I haven’t forgotten about D’Onta Foreman. But in the same way that we talk about poor draft results not being Herman’s doing, neither was D’Onta.

This is funny considering Texas has lost DB's to Ohio State, Florida, Auburn, and OU all in the last month or so. If we were paying there is no way we go 0-4 on those kids.

This logic will never permeate the aggy filter. As much money and as many billionaires Texas has, we wouldn’t lose a recruiting battle if we played that game.

If we were paying recruits why the hell would we being trying to buy Eaton when we could get Ringo?

My 2nd favorite thing about this right now, is that Eaton is a take for depth. Not because we desperately need corners like them.

Eaton isn’t just a depth/development guy. That would be someone like Caldwell who we took a flier on to fill out the 3 deep. After the 2020 season, Cook and Green will be able to declare and we’ll likely need to find a new pair of starters between Jamison, Watson, Caldwell, Crawford, possibly Eaton.  That’s what you sell these recruits on, they get 1 year to learn the system and then we expect them to win the job in year 2 (like we’re doing with Cook/Green).  If Eaton can’t do that then save the scholarship for 2021, but it sounds like the coaches think he can even if he’s our 3rd contingency.

Good point, I was under the assumption we’d find better prospects for the 2021 class, but that doesn’t look to be the case.

Who's Next: Looking at the most likely players to commit to A&M
VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 96 minutes ago

This summer has been a busy one on the recruiting trail for Texas A&M. Since the beginning of June, the Aggies have added 11 new commitments in the class of 2020 and two in the class of 2021.

With the coaches now almost fully focused on fall camp as well as the upcoming season, things are bound to slow down a bit. However, that does not mean the momentum will stop in the recruiting department.

Heading into the summer, only a pair of in-state prospects in the class of 2021 had made pledges anywhere. However, that number has gone up quite a bit. Both of A&M’s commitments have come in that time and the Aggies could be in line for a few others.

So, who in the 2020 and 2021 classes could be the next commit or commits for Texas A&M? There are a few players that are possibilities.

ALDINE MACARTHUR CB JOSHUA EATON

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound four-star cornerback from Houston had long planned to announce his decision this coming Tuesday. It seemed very likely that Texas A&M would be his choice.

However, Joshua Eaton recently took an unofficial visit to Texas and decided to push back his decision a bit. He had originally said he would shut things down after a commitment, including no more official visits. However, now he wants to take a few visits. He has one scheduled to A&M for the Alabama game weekend.

It’s still not out of the question that Eaton decides to make an announcement on Tuesday. If so, that would bode well for the Aggies. But, even if not, A&M has put in a lot of work with him.

MIAMI (FLA.) GULLIVER PREP DE DONELL HARRIS

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound defender was originally a class of 2021 prospect before reclassifying to 2020 this summer. Texas A&M was in his top five and he spent the weekend in Aggieland last month.

The reclassification could be the best thing for A&M in this recruitment. With the late change, many of his top five teams had already filled up or had the scholarships at the position earmarked for the class of 2020 already. Even though A&M would likely be the leader anyway, that certainly is not a bad development for the Maroon and White.

There have been several Crystal Ball predictions for him to A&M recently. Donell Harris says he wants to take his official visits, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him shut things down at any point.

FOLSOM (CALIF.) RB DANIYEL NGATA

The nation’s No. 51 overall prospect and the No. 2 all-purpose back, Daniyel Ngata took an official visit to A&M in June. It is the only official he has taken so far and he says he wants to decide by the end of the summer. If he sticks to that timeline, things look good for the Aggies.

Ngata is also high on a few other schools and Utah could be the program to watch as the main competition for A&M. However, the Aggies are still in very good shape. A&M is going to have to figure out its running back board with how many and which running backs are takes, but Ngata could end up in the class before too long.

MEMPHIS (TENN) CENTRAL OT CHRIS MORRIS

Things are looking very up for A&M’s chances with the national top-100 prospect. Chris Morris has been to Aggieland numerous times the past couple years, including spending a weekend in town last month.

Tennessee hosted him on an official visit this summer but Morris is still very high on A&M. He has an official set up to Aggieland for the Alabama game. Morris has long said he wants to commit while on an official visit, so the Oct. 12 weekend could be that chance, but it also would not be a shock at all to see him commit prior to then.

EAST ST. LOUIS (ILL.) S ANTONIO JOHNSON

The four-star safety from Illinois has long been a top target of the Aggies, but he surprised a lot of people by committing to Tennessee, along with a teammate, while at camp over the summer.

A&M continued to recruit him, though, and after a weekend unofficial visit last month, he decommitted from the Vols upon returning home.

Though he is a bit wary of rushing into another commitment right after opening his recruitment up, the Aggies are in very good shape with Antonio Johnson. There are several Crystal Ball picks in favor of A&M for good reason and a commitment in the not-too-distant future would not be surprising.

2021 DENTON GUYER
KJ Liggins, who played at Coppell before transferring to Guyer this summer, is now playing with A&M four-star quarterback commit Eli Stowers. The Aggies were one of his first offers and the four-star prospect is very high on A&M.

The big question mark surrounds an injury that made Liggins miss almost his entire sophomore season. A&M may want to see him back in action at full speed on a Friday night before making the final call. If they decide to press, though, there is a good chance he ends up with his teammate Stowers on the 20201 Aggie commitment list.

2021 NORTH SHORE QB DEMATRIUS DAVIS

A&M already has one quarterback committed in the class in Stowers but, should the Aggies decide to take a second, Dematrius Davis is pretty much the only one left they would take.

He and Stowers have both said they would be okay with being in the same class together. Davis’ best friend and teammate, four-star wide receiver Shadrach Banks, committed to A&M last week and that will help in the Aggies’ recruitment of the quarterback.

Davis plans to take a little bit of time to make a decision, but it likely isn’t that far off. He is also very high on both Florida State and Nebraska, but it looks like a very strong possibility he ends up in Maroon and White.

Others to watch: Fort Bend Marshall WR Devon Achane, Athens OT Garrett Hayes, Kansas City (Mo.) Raytown CB Dontae Manning, Shadow Creek S Xavion Alford, North Shore LB Matthew Roberts, 2021 Houston Episcopal OT Donovan Jackson, 2021 Fort Collins (Colo.) Fossil Ridge OT Trey Zuhn, 2021 Katy Taylor OG Bryce Foster, 2021 North Shore OG Jaeden Roberts, 2021 Texarkana Pleasant Grove DE Landon Jackson, 2021 Texarkana Pleasant Grove DE Marcus Burris, 2021 Loganville (Ga.) Grayson DE Noah Collins, 2021 Miami (Fla.) Northwestern LB Terrence Lewis, 2021 Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood LB Junior Colson

Correct. The Aggie Mind is somehow able to hold both of these thoughts: "Y'ALL CHEAT! Y'ALL ARE CHEATERS!" and "Y'ALL NEVER GIT ANY GOOD RECRUITS, Y'ALL JIST GIT BREAD AND THEN THE CROOTIN SERVICES BUMP UP THEIR RATINGS"

likewise, the Aggie Mind can somehow hold both of these thoughts: "Y'ALL AIN'T GOT SEC SEC SEC LEVEL TALENT" and "Y'ALL UNDERACHIEVE EVERY YEAR, I CAIN'T BELIEVE Y'ALL WASTE ALL THAT TALENT"

Remember that fucking rich dork in HS that had a kick ass car and parents that were loose with securing the liquor cabinet.  Every weekend his place was the place to be.  He felt he was king shit.  Until the bottom dropped out and his usefulness wore itself out.

Hey Ag turd fucks - that's you.  The SEC welcomed you mouth breathers with opens arms, as you gave them full access to the talent in the state and monthly exposure to home games @ Kyle.  And when your usefulness wears out.  And it will.  You can gnash what's left of your dip-stained teeth together all you want while you watch 7-5 or 8-5 seasons roll past YOY and you jerk each other off about "next year".  A few will realize and speak out about how you got played.  By then, it will be too late.  Reap it twat waffles.

I am sure this post is going to be met with well-thought out, measured responses that exhibit aggy’s high level of social awareness.

also , any DB named Sage automatically drops a star in my book and gets compared to Blake Gideon and The human hurdle.
