TIGHT END
A&M's personnel is now much more restricted at the position than it was just over a week ago which means that you'll probably be seeing fewer 12 personnel groupings than what fans originally hoped for. However, this means even more playing time for sophomore Jalen Wydermyer which is a good thing. With him on the field, A&M now has far better ability to get downfield in the passing game and generate big plays after the catch. Nonetheless, the Aggies have to be more flexible in their personnel groupings which means more of what we saw last season (11 personnel and 10 personnel with Wydermyer in the slot). There's also still no talk right now of moving Fadil Diggs from defensive end to this side of the ball because A&M should be able to work around what's going at this position via Wydermyer as well as the personnel they have elsewhere.

Its actually a good thing that the most talented TE on their roster is yet again injured and that there is no depth behind Wydermyer.  Who knew?

That's aggy mental gymnastics at its finest.

Micheal Clemons will be a fixture here because he can both set the edge and come off of it as a pass rusher.

24 games played. 1.5 sacks.

Has always looked the part. Has always been terrible. Perhaps he turns it on in a contract year?

Donell Harris has stood out early because of his burst off of the edge much like Von Miller did when he was a freshman. However, like Miller, Harris needs to put on more weight before he can be an every down contributor or even be someone that you're going to use as a situational rusher and expect some pass rush out of him.

Not many people talking about how big of a setback losing Braden Mann is going to be for the Aggies.  He was a hell of a punter and saved their ass so many times last year by flipping the field.

Yep, absolutely.  Remember thinking this multiple times, while watching them.

Also, they like their top 6 OL and the 6th one is Luke Matthews.

Give me a line of Larry Allens and I'll win a Super Bowl.  Give me a line of Mathews kids and I'll win a war, all while those sorry tsips sit their sorry tea sippin' asses at home.  Whoop!

I think they want to keep Leal at DE for the most part (moving him inside on passing downs, etc). I think it would be Brown and Peevy starting and Hunter and Rogers as the backups.

Have Hunter or Rogers had a live game rep?

Rogers is a RS JR and has been around a while. 16 Games - 3 TKLs. Hunter played a bit last year in 4 games so that he could keep his RS but he didn't log a tackle.

Their starting DL will be pretty solid, but they have no depth. They really have almost no depth across the board because of all the attrition form the 2017 and 2018 classes. They’re gonna need to hit on like every 2019 guy and have some true freshman ready to in order to get anywhere near their 8-2 fantasy.

Good thing Jimbo doesn’t have a horrible track record of attrition and a low blue chip ratio for those highly rated 2019 and 2020 classes. It’s also fortunate that almost the entire offseason didn’t get cancelled so all their young guys got plenty of reps and development and will be ready to right away.

QUARTERBACK
It's one thing for senior Kellen Mond to communicate with just a few people like he previously; now, he's more communicative with the entire team and they all are more likely to be on the same page when it comes to operating the offense. As a result, even though Mond has been missing some targets due to injury as he normally does at this time of the year, you're hearing that the passing game isn't struggling. On the contrary, it's been efficient and there are fewer practices where things on that side of the ball go completely south. Most of his teammates feel like he's ready to take them to the next level because he's more confident around them (as opposed to the media) but we'll still need confirmation of that when the Aggies take on Alabama and Florida early in the year.

Jesus fucking Christ these fucking people. The season hasn’t even started and they’re already talking shit about Mond. What is this (as opposed to the media) fucking dog whistle bullshit.

What does this even mean

It means he is normally hurt and doesn’t throw the ball well in ...checks notes...September.

or it means his receivers are normally hurt and not playing in...September.

and one of those things is true again but it’s not affecting their offense like it usually does because mond is actually great this year.

Man if his communication skills have really developed enough to talk himself through an injury they might really have something here!

How big of a bag did Craig drop to FWK?

funny you should ask...

after more contemplating, I realize this does not refer to athletes posting images of improper benefit payoffs and possibly endangering their eligibility,  but rather young people posting images of their material possessions such as vehicles, jewelry, shoes, clothing etc to avoid possible robbery and/or bodily harm or even death.

sage advice regardless

Defensive tackles, my friends:

They're going to be a handful this season for everyone on the schedule and they're capable to taking over a game in the right circumstances and winning it for A&M.

I used to hate this guy, but then i grew to respect his marketing strategy.  The dude gets paid to post videos of high school athletes on twitter, and gets paid well. I just wish he would steer more kids toward UT, but Broughton could be a good one.

Demas, enjoy being misused in that boring Jimbo offense.  Dude is going to be wondering if that bag was worth it in a couple of weeks.

1st time things go south or he's getting over/under thrown he'll throw a sideline tantrum.

Over/Under on catches/yards:

4 catches for 50 yards?

I mean, who else would even start at this point?

Vanderbilt's top 3 corners go 6'/6'1"/6'1", and two of them are RS juniors.  So, could be an interesting matchup there.

Hez Jones is their experienced(ish) skinny-but-fast guy, right?

I guess for aggy standards 17 catches in 7 games over two years counts as experienced.

He’s got wheels, but Jimbo doesn’t usually make good use of guys like that.

And by that, I mean wide receivers.

Wright and Preston should both be kicking ass by now. If they had gone just about anywhere else they'd already be stacking stats. Preston really should've hit the portal when his Manvel bros headed out of town. Holgo would certainly have loved to have him.

Buckley's injury has a much bigger impact without Ausbon.

Ausbon is way under-valued by aggy fans in general because he's slow and steady (read boring). The problem that they have is that they think removing Mond's security blanket, in Ausbon, will result in Mond getting the ball to their faster playmakers. The issue is that those faster playmakers haven't been getting separation - hence the need to go to the security blanket. He's like a budget Kwame Cavil and while it might not be as exciting as a dude housing a screen, guys like Cavil and Ausbon move the fucking chains. Their passing game is going to completely rely on Wydermeyer.

I’m still skeptical on Wright, even if he had gone elsewhere but he’s definitely got potential. I actually thought Ausbon was really damn good last year. Losing him will hurt them a ton. Like you said, he was Mond’s security blanket and they were forced to make scramble drills work to convert a lot of third downs.

That’s rough.

enter transfer portal and finds out that nobody good wants him.
Leaves transfer portal and finds out that aggy doesn’t want him either.
goes back into the portal probably looking at Southland and southern conferences.

I was reminded of a Nike ad from 1992 with Bo Jackson and Denis Leary. Worth googling. I couldn't make it embed.
