Nahlin's comparison of Jones to Young is interesting. Another safety misfit at corner, perhaps?

Jones is definitely a big kid. He's been a good corner at his size but he absolutely can't get any taller or thicker.

According to ESPN, he ran a 4.66 40 and had a 4.50 shuttle. The 40 is OK for a CB his size, but the shuttle is horrible.

I feel bad for tamu2017, the TexAgs IT guys are going to do a number on him.

It’s not like he was the only one saying it. He’s just the unlucky one to get quoted. I guess he’ll be banished to Hamms Facebook page for his aggy recruiting news now.

I mean, I think there's a line between hopeless miserablism and "it's cool we'll just go win the toughest recruitments in the country, no sweat."

If it was Collins or Broughton we'd be more in panic mode.  Sure we'd like Jones, but he isn't going to make or break this class.   Naiver and Washington have shown they can bring in a stellar DB haul.

They also offered CB Ryan Watts.

Hahahaha they're really going to use a spot on a mid-3 star son of a guy on the staff? That must have been written in Price's contract or something.

Hahahaha that headline 😂

Damon Sayles: 4-star CB Jaylon Jones commits, giving A&M big win over Texas

The Texas A&M 2019 class has been one for the books in the first full year of Jimbo Fisher and his relentless coaching staff. The Aggies have a top-five nationally ranked recruiting class, and it's a class that is close to being with February's signing period taking place this week.

The Aggies are now trying to build an equally talented 2020 class, and they got some huge news during Sunday's Super Bowl get-together, when Cibolo (Texas) Steele 4-star cornerback Jaylon Jones announced his verbal commitment to the program. Jones is now the seventh member of a growing 2020 class, and he's a big-time addition to a class looking to build with skill-position players.

Jones joined 3-star defensive back Major Burns in the class; Burns committed to the Aggies early Sunday afternoon. Recruited by cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist, Jones committed to Texas A&M over offers from Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida and other programs. He is ranked the nation's No. 11 cornerback and No. 101 player overall in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports. Jones additionally is ranked the No. 13 player in the state of Texas.

At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Jones is a long, athletic cornerback coming off a productive junior season where had 36 tackles and seven pass breakups for Steele. He also showed his versatility by catching eight passes for 124 yards and three touchdowns as a wide receiver. As a sophomore, Jones had 31 tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions playing in the secondary.

Jones was offered by Texas A&M on May 22, and he attended a day camp in June, putting on a show as a reminder to why the Aggies offered. He is expected to get solid tutelage from both Linguist and defensive coordinator Mike Elko. "The whole coaching staff is great," Jones told GigEm247 in July. "I like the culture up there."

Jones has made a few visits to College Station during the 2018 calendar year. He was at Texas A&M in April for the Maroon & White Game and got a good feel of what Kyle Field has to offer. That electricity arguably was more than doubled on Sept. 8, as Jones was one of the more than 104,000 fans in attendance when the Aggies battled Clemson. "The whole culture there ... the campus is amazing," Jones said. "Everything about it is amazing."

Jones and Burns are the Aggies' two defensive commits. They both join a class that is spearheaded by 5-star wide receiver Demond Demas and a host of talented offensive linemen. Texas had the Crystal Ball lead for Jones heading into Sunday but he had long been high on both schools. It is a big head-to-head win for the Aggies over the Longhorns.

So see if I got this right. Aggy states Jimbo owns the state in recruiting and Herman must go OOS to get his recruits.  And that the OOS recruits are not as near talented as the aggy recruits from Texas. But when aggy gets  a 3* recruit from Louisiana, he automatically becomes a 4* recruit?  Hmmm, gotta love aggy logic.

Remember that Mack used to do some of that to create the impression of the class filling up and increase pressure to commit.  There were camp specials every year it seems.  Of course Jimbo has much tougher in state competition and a lot weaker hand to play in CS.

Wait, I thought they said Texas wasn't second and Florida was more of a threat? Shouldn't a win against a conference rival be more important? Especially since they slap SEC on everything they report.

Well it is? We need to not be pussies when Aggy gets a good commitment.

I never felt Jaylon Jones was leaning to us, but still sucks he shut it down this quick.
