Who did Chef Price land this cycle?  He struck out on all the Texas DL and Diggs was all Robinson.

He worked extremely hard to land Devin Price.

He showed Devin the power of Aggie Network, and the opportunity available at the state's premier and only SEC program.  It was a bit of hard sell, but it worked, obviously.

Another UGA hire, looks like Austin Thomas' replacement.

Kipp Adams: Georgia support staffer Marshall Malchow headed to Texas A&M

Quote

Kirby Smart has another staff position to fill this offseason. Dawgs247 confirmed on Saturday that Director of Player Personnel Marshall Malchow has left his post for a similar position at Texas A&M, with a substantial pay raise expected. He will replace Austin Thomas, who just left to become the General Manager of Football Operations at Baylor.

One of Kirby Smart’s first hires at Georgia in January of 2016, Malchow has led one of the best-recruiting departments in the country. Georgia just two weeks away from reeling in its fourth consecutive top 3 recruiting class and Malchow’s fingerprints were all over that success. The best have targeted him, too. Malchow’s worked in personnel departments under Nick Saban, Charlie Strong Chris Petersen and Smart. He will now head to College Station to work under Jimber Fisher, joining the recently departed James Coley, now the tight ends coach for the Aggies.

In 2018, FootballScoop honored Malchow after the Bulldogs signed the nation's No. 1 class, naming Malchow it's Director of Player Personnel of the Year for the 2018 recruiting cycle. Not only did Georgia sign the nation's top class but it signed, at the time, one of the three best classes, in terms of point total, in the history of the 247Sports Composite. Only Alabama's 2017 haul and Florida's 2010 haul had ranked higher. The Bulldogs also ended a streak of seven-straight years where Alabama had finished No. 1 in the 247Sports Composite but make it 10-straight for the Southeastern Conference. 247Sports also honored Malchow in its 30 staff members under 30 story.

Malchow was one of the first few hires made by Kirby Smart when he took the job as UGA's head coach. He hired Malchow, an Augusta native, away from Washington where he had spent two years in the same role. Before that, he was with Chris Petersen at Boise State. Malchow also spent a year at Louisville as the director of on-campus recruiting after serving as a recruiting specialist at Alabama.

As is often the case with on-the-field success, Georgia has had some staff changes since the season ended. New offensive coordinator Todd Monken was brought earlier this month, as was quality control analyst Buster Faulkner. Georgia has added a pair of defensive coaches to its support staff, including another who was an on-field coach at the college level in 2019. Former Furman and Austin Peay cornerbacks coach Rod Ojong is now a defensive quality control assistant at UGA. The Bulldogs have also brought on Laiu Moeakiola as a defensive graduate assistant. Defensive quality control assistant, Jules Montinar accepted a position as the cornerbacks coach at South Florida, landing an on-the-field coaching position.

Georgia has also filled the two openings on its strength staff. Those two positions were vacated by Jamil Walker and Ed Ellis, who left UGA to become the Director of Strength and Conditioning and Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning, respectively, at Arkansas. Kirby Smart and Scott Sinclair tapped Maurice Sims, who spent 2019 at North Carolina, to fill one of those roles. They hired Tersoo Uhaa to fill the other role. He comes to UGA after working at Texas Tech's basketball team, one that made the national championship game in 2019.

Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee was also recognized this week for the Bulldogs tremendous signing haul, being named the 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year.

The Ags approve of the Malchow hire ... KKL is very excited about the hiring of the Director of Player Personnel from UGA.

(Totally normal for a casual ex FSU fan to know about this staffer.  I'm sure he was NOT  professional competition in the SEC/FSU bag-person wars.)

SOME NOTES FROM SI

Per multiple sources, for the second consecutive day, the University of Georgia is losing a member of their football program staff to Texas A&M. Bulldog Maven received a report earlier today that Marshall Malchow, Director of Player Personnel for the Georgia Bulldogs football program, will be heading to Texas A&M alongside former Offensive Coordinator James Coley.

The timing is something to pay attention to here as all of this is happening during a key weekend of official visits for Georgia. The Augusta, Georgia native has done good work for the Dawgs and has been credited with helping UGA build up the roster that they currently have.

Kirby Smart and Marshall Malchow became close during their time at Alabama under Nick Saban. Malchow reportedly worked directly under Smart when he was the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator. Later on, the then Alabama staffer would go on to hold the title of Director of On-Campus Recruiting at Louisville, Assistant Director of Player Personnel at Boise State, and Director of Player Personnel at Washinton.

When Kirby Smart took over the program at Georgia, Malchow wasn't too far behind. In 2017 Marshall Malchow's work did not go unnoticed as he was named the 2017 FootballScoop Player Personnel Director of the Year presented by AstroTurf.

Details of the agreement between Texas A&M and Malchow are unknown at this time but we can confirm he is taking the same position ion at A&M.

AG

On Saturday, Jimbo Fisher added another key piece to the national championship puzzle when, for the second day in a row, the Aggies raided Kirby Smart's Georgia championship staff.

Yesterday, the Ags officially landed tight ends coach and ace recruiter James Coley. Today, the Aggies replaced Austin Thomas with UGA's Director of Player Personnel Marshall Malchow. One of Smart's first hires, Malchow followed the Dawgs' boss from Tuscaloosa and ran the show for a Georgia recruiting machine that has finished ranked No. 3, 1, 2 and 3 in the national rankings in each of his four full seasons. He also teamed with Smart to help the Dawgs close out the No. 6-ranked class in 2016.

Malchow was named Football Scoop's 'Player Personnel Director of the Year' two years ago and is considered one of the very best currently doing it in the college game. Marshall has already informed Coach Smart of his decision and could arrive in College Station as early as tomorrow.

I believe I called adding Coley 'the definition of a home run, splash hire.' This one, my friends, is a grand slam. The Aggies, who have finished 3rd and 6th (so far) in two full cycles under Jimbo Fisher just went out and poached the guy in charge of recruiting at one of the few programs that has actually recruited better than the Ags during that span. This should be fun to watch.

How many more 3rd place finishes will Loochie be able to spew this National Championship nonsense until the fan base finally turns on him?

They will never turn on him because of the John Sharp "tomorrow" turdition.  Tomorrow, tomorrow, we love ya tomorrow a championship trophy is only a year away.

Georgia is one of the schools that can actually recruit itself.

In the SEC, I'd argue it's the ONLY one that can. i mean, Bama football sells itself, but not the school. UGA, though, is a good school, in an awesome town, with a lotta talent, good food, good music, and a noticeable lack of gay milkmen (NTTAWWT).

Have you seen the 2020 schedule? 3rd place or bust.
Fresno state, Abilene Christian, and north texas dont count towards conference wins. If they finish 3rd in the west that would be a huge improvement. The auburn QB will be much better as will the ole miss one. And then there is leach.

So dont bet on it.

I’m hoping back to back digs at UGA causes them to send a shot across aggys bow.  Remember when Miss beat Bama back to back, then got brought back to earth?  Pretty sure UGA has never given aggy a second thought, until now.

If by shot you mean an ass kicking, the two teams don’t play again till approximately 2042. If you mean an NCAA report, Georgia cant report anyone right now.

Aggy’s Championship Puzzle, poor bastards will never realize that half the pieces they need don’t exist. They are on an eternal snipe hunt.
Someone with photoshop skills needs to update the Jimbo 20__ national championship plaque picture to be a 20__ snipe hunting national championship plaque. That is too perfect.

He's a bagman that can't coach. He's Dameyune Craig's twin.

he's a much more accomplished position coach than craig and short of brewster coming back, was about as solid a hire as we could have hoped for.

he was fucking horrific at coordinating georgia's offense last year, although part of me wonders how much kirby played a part.

Nobody welcomes dirty recruiting quite like an aggy.  It is really fun to watch Liucci getting all frothed up thinking hiring guys from one of the dirtiest programs in country will be the final 2 pieces of the "national championship puzzle".

No, you can't fix stupid, but apparently when you have lots of money, you can buy lipstick by the barrel,  to put on that aggy pig.

Saying he's a more accomplished position coach than Craig isn't saying much.

Ok so let’s say Georgia is running at a full 10 on the bag scale. Looks like Aggy is trying to get there as quick as they can. Where do we stand on that scale?

If aggy is at a full 10 on the bag scale, we would need to be at least a 4 or 5 on that scale to compete with aggy.
