Lol. Never heard of that dude, but he says he is Trump's favorite author. So what sort of books does he write then?

Trump probably confuses Nick Adams with the Dilbert guy.  That would make more sense as his favorite "author".

Yeah we can, twicehorn will be here any second now to explain why not only can we let that happen, but we MUST let it happen.

I never, ever said we must let it happen.

You guys are really good at putting words in my mouth/posts.

What I said was, "we're stuck with it, for the most part, so here's why it might be OK."

It appears that the way DOJ has it set up, that it isn't going to ask for a stay pending appeal of the entire order, so the Special Master thing is going to be done and dusted by the time the 11th Circuit rules on the merits.  Now the only question is whether the classified docs will be part of the review.

Hey pal, I need someone to blame and sadly your posts are giving me the most sads.  Don't take it personally.

I think our judicial system would be improved a little bit if such long deadlines weren't so frequently given for matters that shouldn't take that long to consider.
I work on Saturdays regularly. I think the urgency of justice demands a little overtime every now and then, especially when it involves a president stealing nuclear secrets
Or more use of technology and zoom meetings for non jury matters.

Three days to think about this is plenty, I feel. Monday should have been the deadline.

What you're failing to consider is that the other side must be given an opportunity to respond and then the judge must consider.

And, these are not the only matters on which the lawyers or the judge are working.  At least the gubmint lawyers and decent lawyers in private practice.  Trump lawyers probably have no other clients.

Lawyers tend to work very long hours, and not just Saturdays.  Sundays and federal holidays, as well.

Tell me how long it took you to write your last 20 page paper?

Most law firms require about 2400 billable hours a year to keep your job, much less make partner.  That's 312 eight-hour days a year, and you can't bill eight hours in eight hours, it's more like 10.  There are only about 260 weekdays a year.

Any decent litigator will have at least two of these deadlines a week.  Maybe one every day.

But experience tells us otherwise

This time it's different.

Mueller wasn't really different.  The impeachments weren't different.  He was legally protected and we should have known that from jump and never gotten excited about any of that.

Federal criminal prosecution is different.

The collective "experience" has been based on faulty assumptions.

Find the most qualified, objective, unbiased person to do the job and I guarantee the Trump team will object to them. To Trump you are either biased for him or you are biased against him. There is no objective middle ground. (Sort of like how Dubya foreshadowed Trump when he declared that you’re either with us or you’re with the terrorists.)

Actually, a former SecState or SecDef would have the security clearance.  It's just the law degree that would usually be lacking.  But Hillary would work (and would be completely hilarious).

I can’t even parse this. What does she want to happen?  What does consider mean here?

It reads to me like a “I don’t really understand what’s going on, so here’s something vague I can say for you to use to tell me something smart.”

She's a MAGA mouthbreather,  so I'm not defending her, but this order is not surprising.  Both sides were already supposed to submit briefs tomorrow regarding how the special master should work, such as timing of the document review.  She wants the parties to include in those briefs a discussion of the DOJ's motion filed today to keep the classified documents outside of the special master review.

She may (and I have no faith in her) be laying groundwork to grant the DOJ's motion, and take the off ramp they've provided her.  It'll be interesting to see how trump argues the classified documents could somehow be subject to executive privilege and that he's entitled to them back.

I hope the execute searches at Trump Tower and the combo golf course/cemetery this weekend

If they search the menu of “Champion’s Grill” at Trump Doral they will find it the very tasty deconstructed  “naked burger” with a half pound patty cooked to spec, heirloom tomatoes, arugula dressed with olive oil and balsamic, and burrata. Delicious!

The government pretty clearly alleged, and there must be some basis in the briefing of Trump, that he conceded or waived many of the points about the classified documents.  I think she's giving Trump the opportunity to agree that they should not be subject of the order, which vastly simplifies the appointment of a Special Master, i.e. no security clearance.  And then that simplifies the stay pending appeal.

So she wants Trumps team to agree that the classified docs should not be subject to the SM so that her ruling does not go against Trump but can be what he asked for (as long as they change it)?

I scratched your back granting the SM now scratch mine and make your request reasonable or I will have to rule against you.
