Not as a punishment, per se, I don't think.  But a fine will be levied and one that most likely can't be dodged like a civil judgment.  The State of New York will become a super-creditor behind only secured creditors for the most part, so I am not sure even bankruptcy is really going to help.  Whatever cash and other non-leveraged property and equity will be subject to seizure.  And they may even be able to foreclose properites, although they would be behind secured creditors.

If it got to that point would there be any surprises in who the secured creditors are?

He never ran a casino. Every “business” Trump creates is scam to make him personally wealth by stealing the investors money, and there’s no shortage of dumb investors.

Trump made money in Atlantic City through two primary means. One was extracting management fees from companies he was involved with, and the other was transferring personal debts to companies he controlled:

  • The pattern started with his very first Atlantic City venture, a partnership with Harrah’s for which he was paid a $24 million construction management fee.
  • Over the years, the Times reports, Trump "collected millions of dollars in salary, bonuses and other payments."
  • In 1993, Trump Plaza casino sold more than $100 million in junk bonds and "more than half of the new money went to pay off Mr. Trump’s unrelated personal loans."
  • In 1995, the company staged an IPO, and then a week later "the new company began using some of the almost $300 million it had raised to clear Mr. Trump’s personal debts."
  • Trump’s casinos paid $300,000 a year for the right to use Trump’s jet to transport celebrities to gigs.
  • Trump appears to have bilked the shareholders of Trump Casinos and Resorts out of the opportunity to share in a $1 million profit related to the sale of shares in Riviera Hotel and Casino, keeping the money for himself instead.

What Trump did not do was run successful casinos:

  • "Revenues at other Atlantic City casinos rose 18 percent from 1997 through 2002; Mr. Trump’s fell by 1 percent."
  • "Had Mr. Trump’s revenues grown at the rate of other Atlantic City casinos, his company could have made its interest payments and possibly registered a profit."

The public company never turned a profit, leaving behind a trail of losses for shareholders and bondholders, and unpaid bills to contractors and subcontractors.

Yep about all the sumbitch ever does is collect fees.  It never requires the business to generate a profit or be successful in any way.

One year, my high school girlfriend was talking to us about the Thanksgiving meal plan.  She was trying to describe yams, or sweet potatoes, but in her brain, got yams and beets all muddled up, so she asked if we would be serving "yeats."
To this day, we laughingly call sweet potatoes "yeats."
In my defense, she was really cute -- kind of a young Cameron Diaz thing going on.

You dated a young Cameron Diaz type? Yeah, sure.

Unless he ultimately decides to hold his nose and vote for Trump again. I can't see how any person who legitimately follows the teachings of Jesus/Christianity (I say this with full knowledge that most Christians are anything but) could objectively look at all that Trump is and STILL pull the lever for him. He's the anti-Christ in nearly every respect.

Racism. They don’t vote democrat  because they’re told and will tell you democrats are corrupt, without proof. We see republicans ignore blatant corruption within their party with proof. What else is there? Tax cuts make people willing to forego democracy? Less government doesn’t legislate fake morality and marriage.  What some need to understand is there’s either democracy for all or there’s no democracy, and that is a real, slippery slope. Want to watch Christian’s pitch a fit, tell them that Jesus was dark skinned.

The Frozen Chosen are having their own internal struggles around questions of modernity that has caused some synods to fracture (my mom and dad no longer attend the same church), but they're still miles better than most American denominations.

Join a church like St. James Episcopal in East Austin. Welcoming, tolerant congregation. It began Life as an African American Church long ago but is now about 40% black and 60% everybody else. There are two hymnals. What is typical, standard Episcopalian fare and the other is Lift every Voice, which is a gospel hmynal. Great church.

Somebody explain this real slow...Trump's transition and legal teams needed the GSA's help to rent a storage facility in South Florida?

You can walk into one of those places down there with a brick of uncut coke and $1000 cash with no ID and no paperwork, and have a storage unit in 7 minutes.  Why the fuck would you need the federal government's help getting something you can get with a prepaid Visa card and a smile.

His legal team did.

I saw something that Chris Kise, the Three Million Dollar Man, had advised that failure to cooperate in full in the past was a terrible mistake, because Trump has the worst lawyers.  And he was put on the shit list for it.

Now that they have lost the PR and legal battle on the Special Master, it seems he is going to reverse course and try to save his own bacon.

He isn't cooperating. He's offering nothing for something. The Government declined.

Trump’s attorneys offered to let federal investigators observe the search at his Bedminster property, but that offer was declined. Given the Justice Department’s response, Trump lawyers did not make a similar offer for the search of the other properties.

It would be highly unusual for the Justice Department to observe searches that aren’t conducted by law enforcement. The department declined to comment. Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, said the former president and his counsel “continue to be cooperative and transparent.”

Classified Docs Found at Trump Storage Unit With ‘Swords and Wrestling Belts’ Lawyers for the former president turned over more sensitive documents to the FBI after conducting an independent search of his properties

Quote

FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD Trump’s lawyers identified additional documents with classification markings in a search that spanned three Trump properties, including the Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey and Trump Tower in New York, according to a report from The Washington Post

The lawyers, who hired an external team to conduct a search of Trump’s properties following the August raid at his Mar-a-Lago estate, found at least two documents with classification markings in a storage unit in West Palm Beach, Florida. The documents allegedly made their way into the storage unit as part of a 3,000-pound transport of miscellaneous items shipped from Virginia to Florida. It was full of “suits and swords and wrestling belts and all sorts of things,” a source told the Post, who asserted Trump had likely never even been to the unit.

The bigger question is why they weren't already searched by DOJ.

Every Trump property should have been searched top to bottom immediately, after the first warrant turned up stolen classified documents.

So much this.  This country is broken and will soon be dashed against the rocks.

My only guess is they were waiting for trump to say that was everything so they could prove he was intentionally covering up his crime. Basically let him tell on himself. Otherwise i got little

Well, you do have to have probable cause for a search warrant.  And that's probably going to require some rats familiar with what's at those other properties.  I'm a little doubtful that you can generate probable cause on "we found them at one place."

Also, given the relatively small amounts of time he spends at the non-Mar-a-Lago places, and the small number of documents, that probably would not have been worth the candle.

Also, it is quite possible DOJ held off on any warrants to avoid another Special Master shitshow and that this "voluntary" search was provoked by the poor faring at the 11th Circuit a couple of weeks ago.

Something tells me that if Joe Citizen had highly classified docs found at one of his three homes, the Feds would easily have warrants for the other two domiciles. National security and all?

If Joe Biden was found to be in possession of classified documents that would tell me it's actually Tom cruise wearing a Biden mask and it's the opening scene to Mission Impossible 9.

You mean the special master opinion that was completely obliterated?

lYou mean these boxes?

and news reports of boxes being delivered to Trump Tower?

I think we can downgrade this scandal to the pile.

It can be elevated again based on the value of state secrets being mishandled. Then, if it’s substantive, the next scandal would be on the Justice Department for dithering around with our National Security.

I'm not a lawyer, but the case seems quite a bit stronger than that.

The National Archives knows specifically much of what's missing. They know Trump and Trump sycophants were the last ones to handle the documents. DOJ had inside info that gave them probable cause to search Trump's residence. The search found some of these missing documents, but there are more still missing. Some of these documents are national security threats.

For all subsequent search warrants, they can conclusively show that Trump stole documents, lied about it, and tried to hide them. They can also show that Trump/sycophants were the last person to handle documents that are still missing.

Apply that same fact pattern to a normal person. While searching the suspect's house, the FBI finds some of the missing documents. DOJ can show a judge there are still missing documents the defendant almost certainly possesses. They are going to get a warrant for any other houses, or storage units the person owns/rents as well, until they recover all of the documents. They won't have to have a witness saying I saw them put the documents in their storage unit.

Just because Trump doesn't spend much time somewhere, doesn't mean he doesn't store stolen classified documents there. There are more documents out there and they continue to be a grave national security threat. Recovering as many of them as possible is worth the candle.

I'm not so sure about that.  I think they had strong suspicions that a lot of things were taken, but couldn't itemize them.

Otherwise they would have asked for those items specifically.  And NARA has no jurisdiction in particular over classified things, and could not deal with those items recovered.

That's not what I meant.  I mean that documents recovered some place he doesn't spend much time makes it harder to prove that he exercised "dominion" over them necessary to prove the commission of a crime.  It's not very probative, is what I mean. so not worth the trouble.

And, we're getting back to that fundamental kind of question that is is a subpoena or search warrant the proper vehicle to recover government property in the absence of evidence of a crime.  I'm not saying there isn't evidence of a crime, at least for those documents at MAL, it's somewhat less likely for the other places, particularly in light of the apparently small amount of information recovered (here, I'm guessing that if Kise prevailed on them to do this search and cough shit up, they did it "for real" this time).

Mossad doesn't need a heads up.  When you have the Ben E. Keith delivery schedule to Mar-a-Lago...things tend to work themselves out.  To this day, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Carter-their SS detail still randomly shops are various grocery stores in their domicile area.  They don't eat 85% of their meals from the same fucking kitchen week in and week out.
